I don't know, if Joshua gets more out of Mayweather in terms of training then I could see it happening some day. I'll be watching that on the box, definitely not a fight of the year contender, only other "contender" would be another AJ bout this year. Reckon Brook's gonna lose this, Spence looks so quick and strong.

How long till Mayweather snaps up AJ?
  3. Source for the £300m of dividends? A couple of years ago he took £3m out and done it again the year after, can't see anything online showing that much money was taken out..
  4. Will it take off the same way football has? Rugby will be a direct competitor to NFL. Not surprised Exeter pulled that out, seems weird to have to play a final before a semi final.
  5. Josh Clarke is the only one to properly break the first team, Field has done so but largely at a squad rotation level. Even then Clarke hasn't been our first choice with the strength we have on the wings now. The rest have made appearances but it's Clarke has been the closest to breaking the first team, so whilst the academy lads are definitely stepping up, they've not cracked the first team yet. Time will tell, we may have a B team that has a host of players like Clarke and Field for example that can break through to the first team, we may have players like Stuar Dallas in there starting from humble beginnings. Our academy wasn't failing us, but I do buy into what we're trying to achieve and think we'll be able to get more from the B team than we have our academy.
  6. They have been, but I think if we give it time we will see what we get from the rest of the B Team. The idea is that it's a bit more competitive than the academy teams and offers more of a direct route to the first team, meaning we can sign a higher calibre of player and keep them on a decent contract. You make a valid point and time will tell what we get from it but I'm hoping we benefit.
  7. You're referring to what will happen if he sells his shares in the club which would cost around £700m and make him a profit of £300m...but how could you be more competitive without him? What money is at the club that you're currently not seeing?
  8. We'll see more next season I imagine, can't really make much out of it at the moment. I support the cause, why fund an academy if we can't keep our best youngsters...put it all into a B team that offers higher quality reserves the chance to break into the first team by playing world class academies constantly. All sounds great so I can't complain, but we'll need to see what it produced over the next few years. We're surrounded by scouts of Chelsea, QPR, Fulham, Arsenal, Spurs...a lot of clubs in west London alone, let alone the north London clubs. Let alone United stealing our best prospect. Id love for the club to run a good academy but at the moment if the B Team brings in better players then I'd prefer that.
  9. The only reasons he got that job were because he was from Glasgow and spent a million years at Everton.
  10. He scored 12 goals last season so obviously there's talent and ability in him, but you'd expect that to be carried on this season. There must be a reason why he hasn't.
  11. What'd you all make of Shakespeare? I'm not sure it'll end well with him in charge, wasn't he one of Pearsons staff to begin with?
  12. Holding you to ransom you poor little things He's not much of a loss if you look at what other youngsters are doing in the league, Kane, Alli, Lukaku...he's got the potential to be a class player but I don't know if he has the mentality or the intelligence for it. You could replace him with some good scouting.
  13. The almighty South American leagues, where they have a sponsor on every limb and over every organ.
  14. Costa is just such a menace, he's difficult to replace but I think the only player who could replace him properly would be Sanchez. Sanchez is probably the only forward around with the same high level and desire to win.
  15. What's the craic with your finances this summer? New stand, corporate facilities and added attendance.
  16. How much do Arsenal fans believe the club actually has? A lot made of not being able to spend money, but never really any proof and substance in the claims the board are holding it back. Quite interesting looking into your honours history, prior to Wenger you won 2 league titles in 9 years and then prior to that was an 18 year wait for a title, then you've won about 6 FA Cups with him and in about 19/20 years before him you'd won 3.
  17. London Irish beat Yorkshire Carnegie 18-29 in the first leg of the play-off final, can't expect much less than an Irish return to the Premiership after this season. Newcastle Falcons will play Saracens next season in Philadelphia, USA, as an Aviva Premiership "home" game.

    Off Topic

Used to play 7-a-side during the week, mixed level and everyone there is there to just play football. Every now and then someone would turn up and give it the Roy Keane, embarrassing when everyone's just there to play, stay fit and enjoy themselves.
  19. There's just no "big" clubs in England currently, not compared to the three Spanish clubs, Bayern and Juve. Even PSG do better than most of ours and they're gash.

    Rugby League

I did have a longer response written but my internet crashed as I posted it. But to sum up it was I don't disagree too much and you'll know more about the ins and outs of Super League and the RFL than me, but I do think the Super League branding holds the sport back and a Premiership title would do more to open it up on mainstream level for viewership.

    Rugby League

No but Super League to me just screams "t'up nooorth" and not in a good way. Rugby League maybe growing down south but you'd be kidding yourself if you thought most people didn't see it as a northern sport and I think Super League is associated with that, I don't think it'll ever really grow down south or try to match nationally Unions popularity whilst it's still called Super League. To me the term Premiership is nationwide and there's a reason other codes/countries have used the term Premiership due to the marketing success is brings.

    Rugby League

I just reckon if it was marketed as say "Rugby League Premiership" people would be able to differentiate quite easily, I mean Rugby Union doesn't have a hold on the term "Premiership" considering its been used for football and even NRL.
  23. I don't think he's too wrong. It is bad for football if direct/defensive teams constantly win trophies. You'd rather watch a United of old than what the last two years has produced.

    Rugby League

What do people on here think about a Super League re-brand? May not go down well with some, it may sound a bit silly or simple but I reckon changing it from Super League to Premiership would help change perceptions of the sport in the Midlands and the South.
  25. Saracens and Gloucester both a bit pissed off at the timing of the Lions meet up before their European finals...
