  1. Southgate values the use of the youth teams and the progression through them. Gray is also an actual wide player, something Dele and Lingard aren't. Chillwell for me has earned the call up on club form alone, he looks so assured.

    Boxing

And fortunately for me I can finally watch some good boxing at a reasonable time (Canelo Golovkin)
  3. Probably a crime watch drone that was meant to be hovering over Slough

@The Rebel CRS give me chips and chicken nuggets and I'm happy as pig in shit mate, just not a big fan of fish. Chips need to be good though, big, soft and fluffy. Covered in ketchup

Tbh I've never been big on fish and chips, a fairly bland meal as it is. More of an event if anything. I've met tonnes of northerns out travelling, don't really seem to have a proper north/South rivalry out here as there would be back home, it's amazing what getting out of the bubble does to people! Though you seem fairly well traveled within the UK which is something I'd like to do a bit more of when I'm at home.

Has anyone ever been to a White Hart pub that hasn't been a proper spit and sawdust type of establishment?
  7. If you can't tell the difference between how United, Liverpool, Arsenal etc have done it and how Oil clubs have done it then there's not much I can say.
  8. I can't be arsed having multiple paragraph arguments over this, you know I'm not saying money didn't get those players there, it's a professional game.
  9. Man Utd were great because of Ferguson, their money hasn't really helped them in recent years.
  10. Liverpool are also a massive club and their outside investment haven't massively bankrolled them to where they are, outside investment didn't bankroll them to a Champions League win in 2005 or allow Rafa to push for the title while he was there. Liverpool would be the closest competitors to United and Liverpool, alongside Spurs anyway. And yes I understand how money effects football, but having Chelsea and City in the league doesn't make it more exciting. If Liverpool, United or Arsenal win the league you think it was deserved at the very least. If City or Chelsea do it it's just a hollow win that only there fans will appreciate.
  11. I would rather see United, Arsenal and Liverpool fighting it out with the occasional push from the likes of Spurs, Chelsea etc than what we have now. There is no excitement in City or Chelsea winning the league, it is not earned nor a surprise.
  12. Transfer window finally over...happy with how it's ended. Lost an experienced, good but ageing centre back in Bjelland and replaced with Jeanvier from Ligue 2. Sold Egan and brought in Konsa who already fits the team and style of play better, whilst also being younger and having more potential. Florian Jozefzoon was the biggest loss for me because he was starting to kick into gear, but he was only ever going to be here for a short amount of time based on his contract length and previous injury issues. Considering the early form of Watkins and Maupay his goals won't be a miss and Canos, Benrahma and Marcondes will all more than replace his output. The big summer transfer was Ryan Woods, sold for £7m via a loan move and judging by the opening games we've not missed him being out of the side. Macleod, Yennaris and Mokotjo all provide a mix of creativity and physicality/defensive nous, and McEachran's passing range has really come out on show these last few games. Overall a good starting eleven but a very strong squad.
  13. I bet they have but oil money, state owned clubs are a substantial jump for any generation. Turning fairly innocuous midtable-relegation battling clubs into global elites. Being pedantic about the role capitalism has had to play in the demise of football's reputation and perception to actual fans doesn't change the fact that we are living in a commercial golden era and it is now worse than it ever has been.
  14. I still have nightmares over seeing the Sydney "ultras"....will they ever go away????
  15. My grandad was Chelsea so I can't hate you that much! However you lot being an oil club is hardly an agenda, just disliking of what modern football has become.
  16. Aye but we're talking productivity, players who actually go on to play for the club. That's an academies sole purpose, anything else is just extra.
  17. Chelsea's academy is less productive for their first team than ours, and we don't have one.
  18. A largely underwhelming team in terms of creativity, hoping the likes of Sancho, Foden, Hudson-Odoi, Sessegnon and Maddison can kick on this season as it won't take much to break into this England side.
  19. Spain/Switzerland Pickford Trippier/TAA - Walker/Gomez - Stones - Maguire/Tarkowski - Shaw Henderson/Dier Lingard/Loftus-Cheek --------------------------- Ali Sterling/Rashford - Kane
  20. Suppose you've gotta take into account people living in the city and people living outside of it as that'll be where the difference is.
  21. I know there's been a lot of criticism of Mourinho and rightly so in terms of style of play, throwing players under the bus etc etc. But what's the view on Woodward? Surely he can't be with a job for too much longer either? As someone who has overseen the transition from Alex Ferguson, the lack of continuity has been amazing. I know Ferguson probably had a large hand in getting Moyes the job, but they have gone from a manager best known for rapid wing play, an attacking mentality where players can play technically sound long balls and a short passing game as well...to a manager who'd never won anything, was known for his pretty boring but resilient Everton sides, to a manager who's philosophy was to pass the ball around the pitch but lacked direction and attacking intent, back to a manager who's known for resilient football, albeit with a lot more league titles to his name, and general defensive and direct/physical play. There has been an amazing lack of continuity at the club. Youre meant to be appointing a DoF, is that Woodward instructed or part of a greater change including him? How has Ferguson influenced the previous managerial selections if at all? There's no way you appoint a DoF to set up a defensive based, physical, attackingly restrictive football brand of football. Has a DoF actually been interviewed/set up or is it just rumour at the moment?

This may be of entertainment you @carefreeluke @The Rebel CRS but when I was in Paris with the missus for a long weekend we'd decided not to use English and see how far we got on my very bad French and what she remembered of A-Level French. We'd managed to work out how to ask for some food and a drink and so I went up to a food van along the River Seinne giving it my best French, I asked for some food, a Coke and some water. I got to the word water though and completely forgot how the French said it, so instead of reverting to English I went for a potluck shot and reverted the years of Portuguese I heard my auntie speaking to my little cousin and asked for "Aqua" instead Needless to say it wasn't the correct terminology but she understood anyway and cracked a laugh at my poor attempt to speak French and no English. I generally find as long as you give it a go respecting local culture people respond well, like Luke said there are cunts everywhere.
