  1. Nah he looks more sickly tbh: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/03/madison-cawthorn-25-elected-to-be-youngest-member-of-congress-433992 He’s not a pleasant guy tbh: Cawthorn has been scorned on the left for his inflammatory rhetoric. A website launched by his campaign used racist language, and a since-deleted Instagram post showed him visiting the vacation home of Adolf Hitler, whom Cawthorn referred to as "the Fuhrer." Cawthorn also came under fire for historical inaccuracies in his speech at the Republican National Convention, where he also spoke about overcoming a 2014 car crash that left him paralyzed below the waist.
  2. Well I’d probably have to get a divorce as well, so it’s not exactly a decision I’m taking lightly. It’s being strongly considered though. I think America should be more ashamed of the senate. That there hasn’t been a widespread rejection of Trumpism means this is America’s right wing for the foreseeable future. Their next president will be someone like Tom Cotton. As repugnant as Trump, but actually competent.
  3. They’ve also elected a 25 year old to Congress that I can best describe as a Nazi in a wheelchair who isn’t qualified to write laws for anywhere. But he’ll legislate for federal laws
  4. They’re the American version of window licking Tory voters tbf
  5. I’m sort of held captive by the lack of a national plan with covid. Every day for the last 10 years I’ve woken up ashamed we have a Tory PM. I don’t think it’s too much to ask Americans to have more shame.
  6. I think Americans should be ashamed of themselves that it’s this close. Get me the fuck out of here
  7. I would hate to be the person that has to tell Kanye West he didn’t even pick up a single state.
  8. There’s a possibility of a blue swing, because this is mostly the same day vote right now. The news is saying neither campaign expects a result tonight. So maybe it’s not so bad. Who knows. Early signs look shit though lol
  9. It’s hard to keep Jota out of the side if he’s scoring. Especially after he looked really good with Mane and Salah. Klopp loves Firmino. And so do I. So he’s got tough choices to make. But it’s nice being able to call on either Jota/Firmino as a substitute, so pretty cool situation to be in. I’d guess Bobby starts against City though, probably was rested just for that.
  10. I was hoping to be wrong. But right now, it’s looking like yeah... Trump will win
  11. A bigger problem is the early numbers from Michigan
  12. I don’t think the Biden campaign was expecting to win Florida & I wouldn’t expect them to go for Biden either. I’m surprised it’s this close, Florida fucking loves Trump. I think it’s going to come down to if Biden can win Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio. Although if he flips Texas, that’s massive. But again, I doubt Texas stays projected blue...
  13. Florida keeps flipping back and forth. The end result of this will be I have a map of states I’ll never want to go to.
  14. It depends on the state, I think. Some states count the mailed in votes earlier than election day, some count them on election day, some count them after. Technically the deadline for having all votes counted and certified is in December (when the electoral college electors are meant to vote) - and sometimes a presumptive winner is declared in counties where they've got lots of ballots to count but it looks like a candidate has gotten over the threshhold of votes needed to be declared a winner. Cailfornia (usually) is just under 50% mail in ballots - the entire time I've known my wife, she's received a ballot in the mail and typically fills it out and mails it back that week... or takes it to our local library which has a ballot drop off. But this year, every registered voter in California received their ballot in the mail - people can still vote in person. I'm not sure when exactly California finishes counting mailed in ballots - I remember two years ago on local news a local measure was very close and the actual result on the measure wasn't announced for a few weeks after the election day. Unfortunately, I think Pennsylvania is a battleground state where they count in the mailed in votes & early in person votes AFTER they count the votes from today.
  15. If Trump loses I hope Pompeo’s political career is killed dead. I absolutely fucking hate that guy
  16. Sounds pretty fucked up, a lot like the coordinated attack in Paris tbh. To continue the fucked up news around the world, Kabul University was stormed by gunmen, 19 dead and at least 22 wounded.
  17. I can't see a situation in this election where America isn't divided as fuck and in turmoil. Trump wins, I predict 4 years of turmoil. Biden wins, I predict an absolutely insane 3 months until his inauguration. And then probably 4 years of turmoil. Seeing these Vanilla ISIS types yesterday was pretty eye opening, and that was after we'd seen the news one of these "Trump trains" had actually tried to run members of the Biden campaign off the road. I can't imagine what tomorrow actually holds in store for the US. I bet it's not good, though.
  18. I don't think they count the ballots until tomorrow. Texas has had record turnout though, because of all of the early voting opening.
  19. So with Phillips not registered for our CL squad, when Matip & Fabinho aren't fit it looks likely we'll be going with Rhys Williams and Gomez (Matip faces a late fitness test for tomorrow though). But are we looking at Nat Phillips featuring in more league games than Rhys Williams? I do think Phillips is a bit more "ready" for premier league football than Williams. But he's 23, so this really last chance saloon for him at Liverpool - and we know he was one foot out the door on deadline day, we just couldn't get a price that Michael Edwards thought was enough. With Matip's injury history and age, this might be a good chance for Phillips/Williams to demonstrate they're a capable fill in as a squad player. I suspect they'll have plenty of opportunities to play this season given our injuries at the back and how injury prone Matip and Gomez have been in the past.
  20. It is, but I doubt Trump's going to have Bill Barr enforce federal law properly before an election if the voter suppression is his supporters stopping voter turnout. He's also indicated he's going to try to have the results from election night (which aren't likely to count all votes) null and voided. I suspect this means he thinks the early poll counts will indicate him having a lead. But in the US Constitution it says that the votes don't need to be all counted and certified until the Electoral College electors (which, imo shouldn't exist beacuse it's this weird anti-democratic body) meet in December... so what he wants to do is just not have all the votes count. The political reality of the situation is you've got a democracy where one party seems to be saying "voting is bad" and the other side saying "we should count every vote" - it makes me worry about the future of the USA as a democracy tbh.
  21. Tbh I think International football and even the CL/EL this season are reckless and stupid decisions. But we knew FIFA/UEFA aren’t going to give up their money spinners. Especially not in a pandemic where they’ve lost money too. So the fact they pushed for the reckless and stupid decisions should be a surprise to nobody. 5 subs might not have been the only answer on paper. But when faced with UEFA and FIFA insisting they don’t give a fuck about whether players get covid, it was probably the really only realistic option to help managers manage this situation. But we said no to that and made the job harder for all the managers. We all can assume more players will get injured, and injuries will happen more frequently this season... so it’s just something Rodgers and every other manager in England needs to deal with. Doesn’t really matter if their squads are equipped for it - but bigger (and richer) clubs still have an advantage. I think a bigger advantage tbh, but there’s no way we’ll ever prove it.
  22. Good thing my wife voted early! Yesterday our local polling place was blocked off by Trump supporters! And judging by the national news... it looks like this was a coordinated attempt at voter suppression all along the country in areas that solidly vote democrat. It looks like domestic terrorism to me, but what do I know I’m just a foreigner. Never in a million years would I think American politics would be anything like what it currently is. I hope back home we manage to hold Tories accountable, because for a while looking at Republicans was a bit like looking at the future of British conservatives. Hopefully enough people see this future and say “nope, this can’t happen here” because the state of American politics is shocking.
  23. If you want to be upset with anyone @Stan & @Dan with these injuries... is Rodgers rotating players right now? I ask because Klopp’s already done quite a bit of chopping and changing to the side (even without injuries) to try to give players because this season should be expected to be particularly brutal. Every manager knew the rules going into the season. And really they’re the ones in charge of protecting their players, and they can’t even expect referees to help them in that regard. Any manager not rotating players this season is going to see loads of injuries. I think every side this season is going to see loads of injuries tbh, so it’s something managers need to... manage. ... and obviously managers at big clubs and rich clubs are going to have the advantage with rotation as well.
  24. They’ve got a bigger advantage in a season with 3 subs and a shitload more injuries than normal. I wouldn’t get too upset about burnout, the clubs took a calculated risk and decided that they’d risk burning players out this season. The people that should be upset are the players. Not the fans who supported their clubs decision to take that risk
  25. Weird how in Germany only the massive club there voted against it, though? Tbh more clubs having more injuries is a bigger advantage to big clubs than smaller clubs. If City lose a player, they’ve already got a second first team that could come in the top 10 as backups. Meanwhile if Villa lose Grealish they probably just get relegated.
