  1. Yeah I’m not sure being on the edge of conflict is really a great thing. In the 1910s that sort of environment boiled over into a world war.
  2. I’m assuming he’s usually not moderating debates with the orange man then. Idk how after 2016 they didn’t allow the moderators to cut mics, tbh. Maybe that’s why the orange man seemed intent on debating him at times.
  3. I think that’s a nice ideal... but even before America’s Orange we were seeing China rise up as the eastern US going around attempting to dictate the course of action to the rest of the world. I may be too cynical, but I think people and, especially, governments are too selfish and shitty to ever allow for a time where one country doesn’t try to dictate to the rest of the world how things will be. So I’d rather the country that does push the world around be one that holds its politicians to account, rather than somewhere like China. Granted, you can make a good case that the US is not a good example of a country that holds its leaders to account... and I wouldn’t disagree tbh.
  4. And here’s a good link for all of us: https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/09/29/america-prosecute-presidents-pardon-trump-nixon/ it’s the one from earlier the filter ruined
  5. I still can’t get over that pathetic moderator. I’m told he’s Fox’s best journalist. Guess that says something about Fox. The next debates they better add the ability to cut mics so we don’t have the orange man constantly interrupting the moderator or the other old guy. The number of times he tried to speak over the moderator was unreal.
  6. ... Orange Man just told the Proud Boys (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proud_Boys) to stand down & stand by. I don’t know what the fuck that means, but that’s definitely unusual. I’m also going to leave this article right here - https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/09/29/america-prosecute-presidents-pardon-Barking Spider-nixon/ *edit* FFS you have to work around the filter to read that...
  7. What in the fuck was that bit about the cars?
  8. Omg we have to get rid of these filters
  9. The Orange Man, I think is a direct reaction to the last young guy (relatively speaking, for a US president) who was in office - Barrack Obama. I think the reason a largely moderate candidate that rubbed a lot of Americans the wrong way for some pretty unfortunate reasons. And the last young guy I think before him was JFK. Who got his head blown off. Clinton maybe? He was young wasn’t he? Still, I imagine he’s pretty polarising as well if someone like his wife is so wifey hated. But then after him... America gave us Bush. In short, I fear the backlash of America going with a young president again.
  10. Tbf the last time that happened, half of America decided they needed a racist orange man who can’t read. And before that they shot the President in the head. And this debate is a shitshow.
  11. Weirdly, these are the words of a true Metallica fan
  12. Because we've got all of these similar yet slightly different ethnicities that hate the fucking shit out of each other, because people are fucking stupid.
  13. Was wondering why this is flaring up again 30 years on. The Armenian Ministry of Defense is alleging a Turkish fighter pilot shot down an Armenian fighter pilot & killed him - Ankara has denied it. If this is true it would represent a pretty massive escalation here.
  14. Better than letting Alonso drive a bus for sure
  15. Pretty sure the last time I watched an MLS match I saw some pretty bad officiating and a weird VAR moment tbh. Not gonna lie though it’s been a long long time since I watched an MLS match.
  16. I’m against VAR purely because I don’t think the officials will ever be good enough for it not to be shit. And the way they’ve changed the handball rule for VAR is a complete abomination. Test it out in international football. Or make fucking Qatar and/or MLS league test it out and work the kinks out before bringing it over to the bigger domestic leagues.
  17. Actually they haven’t. They declared a “state of war” - apparently that’s like declaring a state of emergency.
  18. Azerbaijan’s parliament just declared war on Armenia
  19. Started playing Destiny 2 for the first time with a couple of friends. Pretty fun so far
  20. I'm intrigued to see how much he can fuck Barcelona up.
  21. I think the only thing that ties it to One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest is that her name is Nurse Ratched I'm still about halfway through, I'm finding it a pretty tough show to binge watch which is normally how I like to Netflix. But definitely a good show that's keeping me interested.
  22. No offense, but I think I'll take anything he has to say about democracy, transparency, or equity with about as many handfuls of salt as I can
  23. Well I'm not really surprised that the erosion of community connections is pretty commonplace all around the UK. Modern Britain was largely shaped by Thatcherism and generations of Tories that believed in that line "there's no such thing as society."
  24. That last bit's sort of how I ended up with an Xbox One. I had a PS3 back home, I was planning on getting the PS4... but most people here that I'm either friends with or the work colleagues I'd want to game with are on the Xbox. And that was pre-Gamepass too. But I came to appreciate what I think is a better UI for partying up and playing online than the PS operating system (granted, I can't speak for the PS4 because). But Gamepass has certainly probably guaranteed I stay with Microsoft for a while. I just think it's a pretty incredible deal and Microsoft keeps throwing money at it to keep it pretty compelling for customers.
