  1. I wondered in the Bush years if without the right to guns whether Bush & Co would have gone full 'Nazi' and insisted on conscription and invaded Iran as well as Iraq.
  2. Mount had a good season though he did have a spell in December and early January when he was off form. If he had been on form then he might have scored 15+. I wondered if perhaps England duty with mixing with DLC - modelling and Rashford - social media had taken his mind off the game for a spell. Remember him getting his hair cut short and then he was back to his consistent form. Weird.
  3. We officially have no guns here yet people are still being shot. I do recall Sasha Johnson leader of the UK BLM movement being shot and brain damaged. I was talking to a friend whose brother's friend was a superintendent in the police and had a firearm because of drugs gangs here. He said it was really dangerous now at certain levels in the police.
  4. On the scoring we started really well with scoring yet that was the full backs. Havertz has the technical ability though whether it is injuries or underlying infection does not always look to be fit. Re the 10 year rule, as you suggest always think business being business money and legal pros will find a way around if needs be, night be a new government by then too. Remind me about Carlo, I know he lost his father in the 2nd season and did not win anything so seemed harsh. What about Wilkins too, forgotten what got him in trouble? Nothing against Torres personally, think he had a mental crisis yet put in a shift on the wing and agree that goal at Barcelona was special too. I always felt TT was using deflection after the matches to the press to make excuses rather than reveal our main issues so as to not risk hurting players self esteem. I loved those two first season under Mourinho and without Roman that would never have happened and as the media said Roman's cash injection via buying players in that first season saved three Italian clubs from bankruptcy.
  5. I personally think within three seasons the owners will be looking to sell re the profit scenario. On last season think injuries to Chilwell, James, Kovacic and Kante could have unravelled our season. Think it is down to Tuchel that we remained in the running for 3rd and the Cups. I don't always agree with his subs or the timing of the subs yet think he is a top manager. Recruitment for this season is crucial for defence and we need midfield strengthening and tweaking in attack. It will be interesting to see what we get. Although I think we were fortunate to have an owner like Abramovich I said on a Chelsea forum a couple of years ago when he had passport problems in the UK that he should have come to a deal with Radcliffe, it was ominous that he was being treated this way suggestive that global politics were changing. As an owner he did many good things for the club yet also believe he personally went over managers' head to buy expensive attacking players that were not a good fit for the club and put the managers under unnecessary pressure. Standouts for me were Shevchenko, Torres and Lukaku. Also thought the sacking of Ancelotti was harsh.
  6. Can't see it happening too many states and too many see it as political and others make too much money. It has happened in the ANZAC area though they were never as gun militant as the US. There was another attempt after Texas in Virginia yet the gunman was shot dead by a passing female. No charges and she does not want any publicity. Remember here a few years ago Islamic knifemen in London that sparked debate about arming all police here. That debate has died away now. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-61615236
  7. Allegedly Imran Khan and 3m supporters march on Islamabad to demand new elections. I saw a another headline that troops are also being sent to the capital.
  8. @DeadLinesman Had to laugh reading through all those and then the prison comment, true yet sticks out in that context. About a season a go WHU wanted Lingard, it was a no brainer for me, agree a fee and let him go!
  9. Yes indeed they are trying to stifle debate, I shut someone down Facebook criticising people as NIMBYs and I said instead of using an acroynym to stifle debate how about answering some of the genuine complaints raised. That was the last we heard from them.
  10. The problem as I see it, is we could have both leaders of Tories and Labour locked up for socialising during lock downs. Ok Boris looks worse yet the data came later on Labour as the Tories were defending themselves. This is such a non-issue when we consider Tony Blair lied about weapons of mass destruction and we attacked Iraq. People do not care about this, it is more about economics, jobs and inflation caused largely by Bidenenko's desire to push Russia towards conflict. They just underestimated how seriously they would take it. They gambled sanctions would cripple Russia yet again that has not worked so far. Currently smuggling in weapons for the Ukrainians to use so no end in sight so no fuel through the pipelines and no wheat or pesticide from two of the worlds biggest providers. The fuel price increase inacrease the cost of all manufactured goods and processed food and transported food.
  11. I think there is a growing problem here too with an extreme progressive streak from the Democrats in the US. The one topic I am aware is frequently in social media and that is the topic of transgender. The Harry Potter author Rowling and the retired swimmer Sharon Davies are vilified on social media over transgender. Most reasonable agree that surgery for transgender should have a lower age limit and it should not be too young as some people do not always know their sexual preferences until reasonably late and surgery is rather final, there is no going back. The problem is the transgender row has indoctrinated young adults in educational institutions that won't debate this yet will attack both on social media and psychically through spitting or shoving. It is this type of indoctrination on many issues (transgender is one) and herd mentality that will not engage in debate and so has elements of totalitarianism that is frightening and also fuelling polarisation.
  12. I've only seen it from YouTube did not realise he had his own channel.
  13. We need to be careful with the current news and propaganda as this is war, all be it a cold war or proxy war. An example in WW1, Brits were told Germans were bayoneting Belgian babies. That is now known to be false. I've always liked history and can see that the Swedes invaded Russia in the 18th C, the French in the 19th C and the Germans in the 20th C. They are never going to just trust assurances. To my knowledge they have made no threats to Sweden or Finland since WWII until there were suggestions of them joining NATO. They do not see NATO as friendly. History suggests powerful countries have spheres of interest, cross these and you risk war. I notice Oliver Stone's Ukraine documentary on youtube was removed. Now I am not saying it was the truth yet people are not allowed to view and decide for themselves. Now as we know Stone is a successful US movie director or will he now fall foul of a new era of 'McCarthyism'?
  14. TBH on balance think we have done in consideration of all the factors. We have been saying on other forums for about 3 years we needed a squad rebuild now we might get one though not as we intended.
  15. Russia apparently looked at their food production a couple of years ago as they had decided Biden would escalate things in Ukraine either directly or covertly. It was all over the independent media before the election, Trump meant trade war with China and Biden trouble in the Ukraine. I was reading books year or two ago from Waterstones covering the unreal levels of corruption in Ukraine with loads of front companies there. A lot of companies owning lots of property registered in the Caymans.
  16. We certainly have had a hard season as Cicero says off the pitch issues with sanctions, Tuchel's divorce and long injuries with both WBs out at times. This is also close to Lampard not being able to spend one season and also playing more games than anyone else this season though think Liverpool will match our games total in the Champions League final.
  17. Though Russia's economy appears small I believe it is actually larger due to their internal spending on the military, I think this is not being counted. China is building a number of aircraft carriers to go toe to toe with the US in the Pacific and then beyond. It is playing the long game yet playing to win.
  18. Not much faith in Ten Hag then?
  19. Yep the American empire is under threat the US corporations want to destroy Russia and turn it into a liberal democracy so US Corporations can control Russian energy sources. Then they would move on to China next and take over all their big companies. I guess like in the film Elysium all the corporate heads and their political insiders would reside in some ecological paradise, maybe Costa Rica. Having worked in a global corporate I recall jobs being out-sourced to India and Brits who said they would go with the jobs and accept local salaries as they had savings and loved golf. No that was not allowed and then the myth of everyone benefits is just that a myth. It is all about the power of global corporations trumping national sovereignty. The problem is the earth has finite assets and the stock price cannot keep ascending..........
  20. So the son of the lady with the shoe fetish. Perhaps they won't last long.
  21. Yes they were good and so was a Bridge Too Far.
  22. The way they built up the characters, the evocative sounds of the forest when they encounter the Japanese Patrol and the tragedy at the river. The prisoners largely being unaware and carry on oblivious and whistling, Just so interesting and unexpected. I have heard a few stories from family about their participation in WWII and the fateful decisions people sometimes made.
  23. Odd indeed and that scene in the cemetery with the Rottweilers and that music
  24. I also thought that was a great film too. A David Lean film. Lean the tea boy to film director story. Can't see that happening any more.
  25. Well if his football career does not take off re injuries or something else he does remind me a little of Dolph Lundgren.
