  1. Bizarre that McCarthy thinks Ten Hag tactically 'is at the top' and just a bit of passion from him will solve United's issues. Tactically they're awful and seems to be the same issues happening again and again for the last two years.
  2. There were complete mismatches in the group stage as well, where a number of sides would end up being the whipping boys for two or three other sides. You're always going to get that whatever the format. One thing I will say is I think we'll see a few more hammerings of the lower ranked teams because of goal difference being a much more of an important factor.
  3. Definitely a wait and see scenario with us when the fixtures get tougher and especially when they're coming every 3/4 days. End of October, November and into the start of December are much tougher. Liverpool were very good for all but the last two months of last season though so I see no reason why we can't have a strong season.
  4. They did mention something on the commentary on the stream I was watching that two staff had been booked so maybe it was that, just seemed odd at the time. And yeah absolutely, bar the fuck up between Konate and Alisson for their goal they didn't really have a sniff. I think if that didn't happen it would have ended up a lot more comfortable
  5. Good win, performance not so much but that doesn't really matter. One thing, Jota got booked first half, it was a yellow, no complaints. However, the ref didn't give it straight away, it was at least a minute or two until he was shown the yellow card. Makes me wonder if someones having a word in the refs ear which I didn't think they could do for yellow card offences.
  6. If Rodri is out for a lengthy period after the injury at the weekend then that it a huge loss for Man City given his importance to them.
  7. Missed the first 20 minutes, sounded like Bournemouth started well but we've been clinical when the chances came
  8. On goalkeeper Alisson's fitness: "Alisson is a doubt to see if he can train today and if he can’t, then he will probably not play as well. He has a slight issue with one of his muscles - we wonder if this game tomorrow is coming too early."
  9. Good win. You fear the worst when we go 1-0 down inside 3 minutes, especially after what happened at the weekend. We responded really well though to be fair.
  10. Awful start but the reds have been excellent from about 15-20 minutes onwards
  11. I only saw bits of it but I wasn't impressed with Slot's substitutions today
  12. Yeah would be more concerning if it was muscle/ligament injuries as you say. Shame for him, he's not played much so far this season but he'd have got plenty of minutes over the next few weeks with the Champions League and League Cup starting.
  13. Manchester United insist they haven't broken FFP or PSR rules after posting £113m loss Man Utd have released their financial results for the year ending June 30, 2024 and the club have made a substantial loss despite posting record revenues. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-united-insist-havent-broken-29911913
  14. Harvey Elliott broken his foot on international duty
  15. RIP Ron Yeats https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverpool-fc-mourns-passing-legendary-ron-yeats “Take a walk around my centre-half, gentlemen, he’s a colossus”
  16. Had to wait until January of that season to do it as well.
  17. It's up to fans to not let it happen at the end of the day. Fans successfully lobbied the Premier League to introduce away ticket prices caps and there's also away price caps in UEFA competitions now which are reducing. Make enough noise and they can't not listen.
  18. Aston Villa's ticket prices for their Champions League games! https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2024/september/04/champions-league-ticket-details/
  19. It is strange that he's suggesting there's been no contact but the only reason I can think of as to why is that the high turnover of the football staff (sporting director, head coach etc) in the summer. And his form did dip at the end of last season due to that injury so maybe they wanted to take a look at him over the first couple of months to see if he is worth committing to £300k+ p/w for another 2-3 years. Let's not forget there was plenty of the fanbase suggesting they'd accept an offer from Saudi if another one came in. Obviously he looks as good as ever so it's one they need to get sorted before January imo.
  20. Neville is talking here like Liverpool's midfield are nobodies while still somehow talking up Utd's midfield, he's so deluded
