Shite that but, to be clichéd, if it's meant to be it's meant to be! Did you tell her about this place? If not, perhaps that's where you went wrong ? All jokes aside, keep fishing!

The games themselves were competitive is what I'm trying to say. Rarely one-sided or dominant, there was always a bite and feistiness to it as a result of the competitiveness between the teams.
-
You don't have to be to have the rivalry, at the time?
-
I got where you're coming from to be honest. Liverpool/Chelsea had a rivalry (albeit short-term) in some sorts because of the competitive nature of where both clubs were at. They used to be games that any fan would look forward to purely because it was entertaining and there'd always be some kind of drama or controversy - I think the latter point helped because Jose was in charge and he gave a lot fuel to the fire. So while it might not have been a natural rivalry like Liverpool quite obviously have with Everton/Man Utd. It still had a lot of edge to it, and there was that competitive edge in Champions League. And I think in a few of the cup competitions (I still remember Riise banging in an unstoppable left-foot volley in FA or League Cup final). I'm with you on the reminiscing from that era. Liverpool and Arsenal was a great match-up too. Constantly goals galore in those games.

It's quite reasonable to believe that the sale of Schmeichel doesn't solve all the wage and financial issues. Considering we have to have considerable deductions in the wages, it's conceivable to figure that we need more sales - the likes of Soumare and Vestergaard going helps things. But we've only got a week left. Even those 2 do go, who else is there to bring in and what are the chances we actually get deals done in time? I think eventually we'll be alright whether Rodgers stays or not but this could go down as a big summer for all the wrong reasons. Next summer is massive regardless - lots of players out of contract, and I imagine we'll see a lot of spending as a result.
-
I know. But unlikely Maddison goes along with those 2. Its quite surprising more hasn't been made of a Tielemans transfer, in the sense that there haven't been further offers. We'll hold our own for Fofana as is our right. No obligation to sell.
-
The worry being selling those 3, including Maddison (I know you're angling for a sale to Newcastle) really well and truly fvcks us up before the World Cup. And with a very poor start to the season, it's not ideal in the slightest. Not to mention if Rodgers should be trusted with a rebuild. It's just not in our strategy to sell more than 1 asset per summer. It's what we've done with Chilwell, Maguire, Mahrez, Kante etc. We're not mugs when it comes to selling. We'll happily hold our own and so we should. We won't be bullied.
-
Yep, we do. Some good talents to follow in the footsteps of Chilwell, Barnes, Thomas, Dewsbury-Hall. Will Alves, Sammy Braybrooke, Lewis Brunt, Joe Wormleighton, Tawanda, Maswanhise, Wanya Marcal-Madivadua, Callum Wright are all tipped to have good careers, some more than others but plenty to keep an eye on. Thanawat Suengchittawon is/was as well - he's already been playing for the Thai national team. But he did his ACL recently sadly so will be out for the season.

Potter plays in a similar way to us with Brighton - a lot of his Brighton tenure has been 'if he had a proper striker he'd do better'. You don't get much more 'proper' than Vardy, despite his age. I want Rodgers to go, but can't see him being sacked as the owners probably don't want the big pay-out, so they're waiting for him to walk, which is equally unlikely. Wouldn't want Benitez or Solskjaer - Benitez's stock has fallen rapidly following his Newcastle/Everton days. Solskjaer isn't inspiring at all. A few other names (alongside Poch despite how unrealistic that is) are Ruben Amorim or Marco Rose. Basically would just like anyone that can get a tune out of these players again - it's gone heavily stale with Rodgers thanks to how he is so stubborn to only play in one way. And that doesn't suit our players.

Her honesty to want to watch the world blow up and burn? Why?

Fingers crossed for her.

Reading the other details coming out of it and it's so, so unfortunate . Can't even begin to imagine how anyone involved can feel after realising a little girl has died as a result.

Legend.

This isn't meant to incite, or provoke, or antagonise. Purely just a reference point and an interesting article about age of squads (Arsenal are used as a comparison). Don't hate.

Vestergaard and Bertrand are the 2 highlights. Combined, costing approx £15-20m, and wages approx £150k/w. Add to that, Perez who has been inconsistent at the very best and nowhere near good enough for the £30m we paid. Soumare hasn't really performed as we'd have expected - £18m. God knows what wages he's on. I'd have loved Praet to have worked out and I still think he could under a different manager, if he's not sold - £17m approx. Benkovic in 2018 - £13m. Ghezzal - meant to be the 2nd coming of Riyad Mahrez - £13m Adrien Silva - missed half the season due to an epic transfer mishap - £19m. Iborra - £13-14m. Left and went back to Spain after 18 months. That's up to 2017. So 5 years worth. Not to say it's all bad - Maddison, Pereira, Tielemans, Soyuncu, Justin, Castagne, Fofana, Iheanacho, Maguire, Daka have all been signed in that time too. But where we were famed for solid recruitment, that reputation is slipping away with more bad than good signed in the last few years.

Along with Riise/Cisse/Garcia/Torres, he was one of my favourites in that mid- to late-00s Liverpool squad.

I don't mind Leeds so I hope they continue as they have started this season, but it is very early days. They seem to approach games how I only wish we could - that performance against Chelsea was superb and full of energy. Can be difficult to keep that up... Shocked in what respect? It's wages paid towards average players that don't even play that are the issue.
