  1. To be honest, I think a lot of our generation thought that. Inflation rocketing way above average wage increases has put a stop to that. Let alone cost of living crisis currently, as well as COVID impacting the situation too. Be careful with flats - it's great to have your own independence in it but it comes with its risks (not all, there are some advantages). Some management companies for flats charge a lot for a Service Charge, so make sure you look into exactly what you pay them for and what you get in return - I think you can look in to historic Year End statements for each company. There's also the risk of what kind of neighbours you'll have - privately owned and used, sub-let/tenanted, social housing etc. Make sure the lease is over 75 years as well. Otherwise it becomes hard to sell; most buyers look for at least 99 years on a lease. Renewing the lease is extremely expensive... If you can afford a house, go for it. It's by far the better option for security and ownership and responsibility for alterations or amendments to the property you own. With a flat, you own the property, but not the land per se. So you become restricted on what you can/cannot do as per the covenant/lease.
  2. It'll immediately become illegal in 22 states I heard. So while other states might be a bit more 'liberal', the fact that nearly half of the country immediately bans abortion by law is where a huge problem arises in the short-term.
  3. Is it controversial he hasn't picked Scholes?
  4. Thankfully this can't happen any more and a landlord has to have a legit reason to evict.
  5. Ours is fixed for 5 years at 2.19% which we were delighted with. A few weeks later best rates hit just under 3%.
  6. Fluctuating. They were quite low recently but in the past few weeks they're creeping up week by week. We're in process of buying a house and our mortgage advisor was quite good in the sense she was telling us literally every other day 'rates are going up, do you want to proceed'. Other advisors I or family have dealt with wouldn't be so proactive!
  7. The woman at the time was said to be caught between a rock and a hard place...
  8. Real Madrid win La Liga once again. Leading to this...
  9. That's kinda my point though mate. You've got people with that kind of title making decisions about the football team which shouldn't really be anywhere near them. Out of their remit and out of their responsibilities. 'head of corporate development' to me is more off field decisions and living up to the dignitaries and more of a marketing team.
  10. They just think if they're friends with an Asian it doesn't make them racist. Or they're just blissfully unaware that their words or actions can be racist without realising the nuance can be there because they're too thick-skulled and narrow-minded to understand anything out of their own world view.
  11. The job title doesn't match what he was responsible for. Usually director of football would do that, no?
  12. It's more in relation to @OrangeKhrush's posts where he thinks they'll buy every single player they're linked with
  13. I can't wait for Newcastle to sign a shitload of players for extortionate amounts money and then wonder why things don't go well because they hashed a load of individuals together instead of creating a 'team' of players.

Boris Becker jailed for 2.5yrs for hiding assets to avoid paying debts.
  15. Confused in this Melbourne Victory/Wellington game. Victory have gone on to score a goal, however referee/VAR ref has brought it back to an incident where a Phoenix player has handballed it and therefore a penalty has been given instead. Surely just keep the goal?
  16. I see the government have been found to have broken the law at start of Covid then. Government claimed there was a protective ring around elderly care homes. Court of law has found their actions were unlawful and the policy of discharging hospital patients into care homes.
  17. I get the feeling every target for you will be deemed 'realistic' purely because of the oil money you now have.
  18. There's gonna be 'top targets' for you guys every day until the end of the summer transfer window. I bet only 5 or 6 really come to fruition.
  19. First PL club to be relegated outside of the EFL I heard yesterday.
