  1. Thing is, Choudhury isn't that reckless. He just puts a lot more tackles in than anyone else. Too much gets made out of the way he plays the game because so many people are so soft these days. The Ritchie tackle against Newcastle was another talking point - Ritchie went in half-arsed and came off worse - it's what you're taught in Sunday League football; go in 100% and you're less likely to get hurt. I still maintain the Salah incident was more unfortunate than anything else. Look at Fabinho on James - he's absolutely poleaxed him and nearly knocked him out as he's challenged. I'd be more inclined to say that's more dangerous than what Choudhury did. Salah's foot is caught under Choudhury's thigh - there's the unfortunate side. It was cynical. Choudhury did something similar last season when he tracked back against Mane, tackled from behind, got the ball and carried on. It was a cynical from Choudhury, no doubt. Regarding the formation - pretty much. Perez is the inverted winger on the right hand side which helps create space for Pereira to join attacks.
  2. Schmeichel Pereira - Soyuncu - Evans - Chilwell Ndidi Maddison - Tielemans Perez - Vardy - Barnes Or Schmeichel Pereira - Soyuncu - Evans - Chilwell Ndidi - Choudhury Perez - Tielemans - Maddison Vardy Where he's played Maddison out left, it's almost shooting ourselves in the foot. It's not his best position and we don't get the best out of him when he's there. Centrally, and the stats back this up, he and the team are so much more cohesive and creative. It's quite obvious centrally he's so influential. The beauty of the rest of the midfield is that they are all capable and very good at what they do - Ndidi with his Kante-esque performances this season (no exaggeration, honest). Tielemans did start off a bit slow this season but he's finally having more of a say in some games and producing decent performances as expected. When Choudhury comes in he's effective as a defensive midfielder, ball-winner (I know you don't like him but fuck it ) Vardy is just top class and is delivering under Rodgers - 17 goals since he took over and it's the most out of anyone else in the division in that time-frame. Pereira is the best right-back in the league - defensively sound. Again the stats for tackling back it up. Gives us another dimension when attacking as well. Virtually plays as a winger and has been better than any other winger anyway. Soyuncu and Evans have a great solid partnership together. The former has stepped in to Maguire's shoes and then some. It was good recruitment from us last summer to get a replacement in at that time knowing that Maguire might leave then.
  3. Amber Rudd did the same on TV yesterday (can't remember what programme). Said 'our governments own research says economically we're worse off by 4-6% but I still think it's the right thing to do because we had the referendum in 2016' yet I've seen nowhere near the outcry hurled towards her compared to if, let's say Diane Abbott, said something like that. She'd be absolutely slaughtered.

  6. 3 more incidents occurring over the weekend: Luton vs Bristol City https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50116808 Ronaldo Vieira racially abused by Roma fans away at Sampdoria https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50118919 Morelos allegedly receives racial abuse from Hearts fans https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50117848
  7. Agreed. Their manager on 5 Live sounds terribly upset and rightly so. Even Yeovil players and staff tried to calm the fans down and didn't. Said he asked the ref 'can you guarantee our safety?' and ref said no so took the players off. Fair play.
  8. Spat at as well apparently.
  9. Thank me later @Toinho shortly after that post above you're back in the game Popovic scoring. Good sub by the manager to bring his son on!
  10. Perth are shite today. Front 3 aren't clicking and they can't break Western down. Diamanté for Western is playing how I'd expect Castro to play for Perth.
  11. Keanu Baccus just scored a worldie for Western Sydney away at Melbourne Victory. 0-1.
  12. Impressive by West Ham to have played over 100 fewer games than Liverpool but still amass more than 2000 points over them
  13. La Liga have asked for El Clasico on 26th October to be moved. Barcelona expected to refuse it being moved as 'unnecessary'
  14. Gary Hooper signs for Wellington
  15. No blame apportioned for any politician that couldn't help negotiate a deal properly? I blame David Cameron for getting us in to this mess and suggesting a referendum in the first place. I blame several politicians across the board for wasting 3 years. Bit naive to just choose remain MPs to blame.

Used to love chess growing up. Don't play it enough these days to necessarily be good enough.
  18. I can't stand xG as much as @LFCMadLad can't stand VAR
  19. Pogba does what Busquets does? What? Busquets is best known for his defensive qualities - tackling, intercepting, reading/awareness of the game, breaking up attacks and disrupting opposition play, off-loading the ball simply. For most of that (all but the last point), I don't see Pogba doing that at all. Looking back at last season, he made 47 tackles across the whole season. https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle?se=274 Regarding your first sentence, he doesn't do way more than any PL midfielder. Laughable claim with your red-tinted glasses on. No issues with claiming he can score and influence goals/chances but to claim he possesses some world-class defensive quality in addition to that is just ridiculous.
  20. Watched couple episodes of Criminal on Netflix on the way back from Majorca today. Really new aspect of a programme yet ever so gripping. Takes the work of a proper actor/actress (and production/direction etc) to get the viewers imagining the whole crime scene yet they don't ever vary from the setting of a police interview room. Shame there's only 3 in the UK so far (are there going to be more?) Edit: saw a flaw in the 2nd episode. The time on the clock in the room behind the mirror goes backwards even though the interview has progressed... (the time on the Netflix bar is how long is left)
