What a fucking job Anthony Fauci has... probably best he didn't get held to answer the question here because he just doesn't seem to have it in him to sing from the same songsheet as trump on hydroxychloroquine.

I'm really hoping to see a number of class action lawsuits filed against the entities behind these people.
-
I really relate to this.

Not from me mate. Human contact is important. An enforced lockdown to a party of 1 is harsh, and basically solitary confinement.
-
This video is why I've been so worried about the US being the worst affected country. Coronavirus became a partisan issue.
-
I agree. People who live alone should be able to have a person or two they can interact with, provided they aren't symptomatic.

@Toinho Your premier just can't keep a straight face after this question on the legality of picking up a kebab.

I think we're approaching the point where we're going to lose count of case numbers and fatalities... There's always been the unconfirmed cases due to lack of testing, but I think as more second and third world countries start to see community spread the data is going to be impossible for these countries to gather, and like Iran we'll have no idea how many actual cases there were but not because they withheld it just that they won't even really know themselves.
-
Our government are circulating this data to suggest we are in a pretty good place compared to many of our contemporaries and seem to be achieving levels of test and trace more aligned with South Korea's.

This is you Machado? Have you ever posted a photo on here before? I don't think I've seen one.

A terrible day for the death toll yesterday. France at 1350 deaths. USA and Spain at 960. Worrying for the trajectory of all 3 countries.

That sucks mate. I'm similarly heartbroken for many here in affected industries. Those I'm most closest to are in hospitality, particularly my local family run coffee shop. Although they're likely to receive some government support they've seen their family business and livelihood upended and enormous uncertainty to their future income and way of life. And for me I'm torn between wanting to continue to support them financially by buying as much take away there as possible, and also recognising that my daily contact with them is currently my families biggest exposure risk, which is ultimately non essential so I'd ideally like to eliminate. I'd rather just wire them my usual weekly spend and buy nothing tbh, but that probably feels like charity which they'd be too proud to accept.
-
I think it's becoming clearer now that not quarantining would not save the economy. This is putting 20% of the affected cases in hospital, and a reasonable proportion of others too sick to attend work for a substantial period.

I thought you would look more "pasty Brit" to be honest. Definitely a unit. Do you have some Italian blood in you? Or Balkan? Agree on the exercise. I never had much time for cardio at the gym, it takes too long and I only get a 1 hr window in my lunch break. The only way I can really get around solo running is either to run somewhere scenic, run laps dribbling a football or to run super hard for the express purpose of absolutely exhausting myself, with occasional sprints mixed in for extra pain. A light jog is not enough. That said, bought my son a bike online last night, so am thinking I'll take him for riding and will jog along beside him.

I'd never seen a pic of you mate. You look quite solid. More muscular than I was expecting. Do you gym often? Anyway cheers. Nice to put a face to the name.

Yes we've been doing that. We're also beneficiaries. My 4 year old and I are going for walks and Bear Spotting each day. We keep a score of who sees them first, with the aim of getting to 20.
-
The irony is the more cases they've had, the more there is already an immunity out there, which helps to make the case to tempt people to leave their houses and get back to normal
-
Data starting to emerge supporting a Wuhan death toll of more than 40,000. Not 2500 as reported by the CCP
-
Assume it's 20 times that number already mate and doubling every 3 days. The actual confirmed case data is a real lag indicator
-
America resetting expectations now around this after today's press conference. Suggesting the best case scenario now with successful intervention is 100k to 250k deaths peaking at 3.5k deaths a day, compared with 1.5-2.2M if no interventions were taken.
-
Most of the time that's a good thing. I always want society to be founded upon humans interacting with each other preferentially face to face.
-
You'll get through it mate. We all will. One day we'll look back amazed at our individual and collective resilience. But mate I'd also urge you to maximise the contact you can get within the bounds of the law. Use video chats with anyone instead of phone or message based contacts. Get out of your house for exercise as much as you can. Keep your distance, but outside in fresh air you are very safe and you can still talk to people from a safe distance. All the best.
