  1. He is the most fundamentally dishonest person in world leadership. He lies habitually without realising, in every instance as a defence mechanism. I don't believe he is capable of realising he is wrong and his statements support that "I don't accept responsibility at all" and "I felt this was a pandemic way before it was ever declared to be one". His recent rebadge of this is"the Chinese virus" is showing he is even more shifting his mentality to blaming China because he is incapable of realising how own failings. Have a read of this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/03/18/there-is-no-new-trump/
  2. Does anyone actually believe it to be possible that Italy have surpassed China in deaths? I feel like China just started a political campaign to flatten the curve to get their economy back up and running again. I'm inclined not to trust their information.
  3. To be fair it was a great call he made initially to close off flights from China. However his decisions around test kits, and driving a mentality of wanting to suppress the numbers, which meant a don't ask don't tell mentality of patients running around out there were very damaging.
  4. Agreed. Crazy. I've taken my son out of kinder because we can without it really hiring is at all, and we aren't emergency services workers.
  5. Seems fairly likely in the eastern states. I'm thinking it'll get called by the end of this week. Maybe the other states will add time at the back end.
  6. I guess Africa is doing even better than South America given how few cases they have? I'm not disputing action being taken, and Peru being ahead of the curve but I think there's also a more natural barrier in South America and that any model would have likely showed South America and Africa as two continents with the slowest initial uptake of the virus. I disagree. You're the first person I've heard express that view tbh. Both countries are still in the early part of the exponential ramp up but I think the British government are doing what others are doing, monitoring closely and acting at the right moment, albeit slightly more bullishly. In the case of the US it seems the reason there is a lesser mobilisation of testing facilities stems from decisions by trump early on not to pursue an aside early testing regime for fear it would discover more cases and thus be more political attacks from democrats. It's a struggle to see how they will cope to even measure/appreciate/understand the scale of their problem. The US is less densely populated than the UK so it has that advantage of social distancing is implemented but it's got a more problematic healthcare system and based on what I've seen so far I'd suspect they have a bigger problem than they currently know, and the man at the top had not yet realised any error on his part and thus may not change course.
  7. South Korea have nearly tested more people per day than the US has in its entirety, and from what I see they are really lagging behind understanding where the true numbers are at, which I think stems from them wanting to keep the numbers low early on in line with Trump's desire not to hear bad news.
  8. They are the epicenter of the European outbreak though so it's natural they would be ahead of where everyone else was at. I think they were struggling to gauge the extent of their initial problem and this led to them being slow to respond.
  9. I think you'd also find there's a psychological aspect to it... Knowing you shouldn't partially creates a need to touch, a subconscious itch, etc.
  10. Don't underestimate how the hyperpartisan aspects of the US could escalate the situation and make it one of the most affected locations. Trump's tweets do not get ignored by all. Have already seen reports of people calling the virus a democratic hoax perpetrated to drive an economic crisis to hurt trump. As a minimum they think it's a huge exaggeration that's hot a political element to it. So why would they buy into the hype and self quarantine if it hurts trump? The biggest problem is that trump actually believes this to be true, so he will continue to perpetuate this view through any communications he has. I'd like some mate honestly. I'd use it when I couldn't get to a sink. Like right now getting on the train, and again when I get off.
  11. I think some countries have a testing problem and some have an honesty problem. I'm glad my wife has had her business trip to the US cancelled because I just don't trust their reporting. It seems like Trumps tendancy to not want to hear bad news may be influencing matters.
  12. Keep them on the ship them mate. That way the numbers won't double and it won't make you look bad.
  13. It had me worried though because we were nearly out, and basically counting to be able to find some on the shelf.
  14. Or at least for the fights being started to be fights to the death.
