If you insult or discriminate against someone because of their race, that is racism. People are always on the lookout for racism nowadays though. It's like at a football match, it's almost a reflex to shout handball without thinking whenever the ball hits a player pretty much anyway in the upper body. Likewise, if anyone insults someone of an ethnic 'minority' with anything that could even be vaguely construed as being down to their race, sometimes not even that, people scream racism without even thinking about whether it actually is or not. Half the stuff that gets branded racist is far from actual racism and it's clouded the actual definition of the word.

Spent pretty much the entire evening completing the Practice "missions", scraped through to Q2 in my Sauber but didn't get a good lap in the middle session, starting raining and it seemed to fuck me more than it did the AI. Plus I got a 5 place grid penalty from Practice from running wide on one of my first laps and Verstappen trying to overtake me which led to slight contact, bloody stewards. Started 21st, got stuck at the back of a train on lap 1/2, think someone had damage ahead of me because it was so slow, ended up losing half my front wing because the mugs were braking so early instead of overtaking each other. That obviously ruined my race, had to make an extra pit stop compared to the others, ended up 18th and last. Worth it.

Just loaded up F1 2016 for the first serious play. Good to see that it panders to my absolute sad arse grind merchant approach of being able to take part in all three practices before embarking on 100% race distance. This ten year career could take a while starting out at Sauber too.

I think a lot of that stuff like force feedback is primarily aimed at people with wheel and pedals so I'd just ignore most of it if you're on a controller, I don't remember tweaking it too much when I started, apart from the AI difficulty.

Summarise in ten words or less?

Yeah the controls were challenging. A lot of critics say they made it top realistic how difficult the cars are to control when you're playing off a controller rather than kitting yourself out with a full wheel and pedals.

Any racers here? I've not played it for a while but I was enjoying Project CARS on PS4 with quite an immersive career mode, looking forward to the sequel.

Who do we think will be on their way elsewhere from the rear end of the team? And how many additions do we need to make up top?

Yeah it's just funny looking back that people thought he could only win from the front as nearly all of his victories from 2008-2011 were from pole position compared to Hamilton who had a habit of coming through the field. This was mainly because Hamilton always has a shit qualifying session in him or was picking up grid penalties for reckless driving, whereas when Vettel had the fastest car he'd consistently qualify on the front row without fuss. I remember there was a dodgy phase for Vettel where he crashed into Webber in Turkey 2010, Button in Belgium the same year and perhaps a couple of others around the same time. Martin Whitmarsh dubbed him 'crash kid' after the Button incident but he's more than proved people wrong since.

Just smashed cleaning the rest of my flat today ready to move out next month. Done a massive clear out too so I reckon half the work is done for moving out. Pretty satisfying feeling.

Had some strange TV habits lately. Saw Mad Dogs was on Now TV so gave that a re-watch. Seeing Philip Glenister in this inspired me to re-watch Life on Mars as well. Also been watching Mad Men on Netflix in between times. Better Call Saul is still on my watch list too, got about halfway through season two before I stopped watching for whatever reason.

Throwback to when people would actually debate whether Vettel could overtake. I find the circle jerk a bit too much at times (sorry @Tsubasa and @True Bender) but the guy is an absolute world class driver in every department.

Ricciardo, Perez and Ocon were 3-4-5 most of the race. Ocon had 13 laps fresher tyres than Perez. About lap 50 after Perez has been just behind Ricciardo the whole race without passing him, the team radio saying if you can't pass Ricciardo we need to let Ocon have a go, he has better tyres. Perez argues about it and apparently they agree Perez has three laps to pass Ricciardo. He doesn't, then when Ocon gets a run on him Perez blocks him aggressively and this lets Vettel get past Ocon before he eventually passes Perez too. Had Ocon got past Ricciardo they'd have got a podium but they've ended up 5 and 6 with Perez ignoring what was effectively but not explicitly team orders.
