  1. Deadlinesman: Leclerc Leclerc Norris Sainz 13th Twice
  2. The bookies have it as more likely the Tories will end up with under 50 seats than 250+. You'd need 326 to have a majority of 1.
  3. @DeadLinesman @Whiskey @The Palace Fan @MUFC @Tommy don't forget to predict - deadline tomorrow!
  4. Pole Position - Which driver will post the fastest lap in Q3 AFTER MAX VERSTAPPEN IS REMOVED FROM THE RESULTS? Leclerc Podium - Which drivers will finish the Grand Prix in the top three positions AFTER MAX VERSTAPPEN IS REMOVED FROM THE RESULTS? 1. Leclerc 2. Norris 3. Hamilton Random Driver - Predict the finishing position of this week's random driver, Daniel Ricciardo. 12th Bonus Question - Keeping it simple this weekend. How many times will the (full, not virtual) safety car appear during Sunday's Grand Prix? 0
  5. He does need charging to be fair. With or without this being in the news, nothing will get done about VAR and the officials and the 115 charges will get dealt with eventually but far too slowly.
  6. A lot of the tactico nerds on Twitter have convinced me on this move to some extent but I'm also a bit like come on. Kompany came up with a team that dominated the Championship and they even invested over the summer. It's not like he had his hands tied like the Luton manager, and their effort was truly pathetic as well. 24 points. I know he wasn't Bayern's first choice and I get the argument that the style of play will work better with better players but surely you'd want to see some evidence that the guy can find a way to turn around results during a bad run. Will watch this with interest...
  7. Labour are going to win so heavily that I think if you're pretty left wing it's worth throwing your vote to the Greens or an independent candidate if there is one as a bit of a protest vote. If a million or two people across the country do that then Labour will still have a huge majority, they won't lose more than a handful of seats, but it might just inspire them not to just take their left wing voters for granted and remember they still need to win those votes by being progressive on the environment, public sector, etc.
  8. Election 4th July. Finally. Feels like we've waited forever.
  9. 10. Less than a month before the first match of the Euros .
  11. I get what you're saying but I think even if Max's probability of getting pole position dropped down to about 50%, people would still just go for him every time because you don't know who is going to get it if he doesn't. 2nd place has been Leclerc, Perez, Sainz and Piastri at different races this season with Norris a good bet as well. Even if we got to the point where it was 50% Max, and 10% Perez, 10% Leclerc, 10% Norris, etc., people would still pick Max most of the time because the lack of a reliable alternative makes it not worth the risk. If we either get to the point where Max is only getting pole and or winning less than half of the time, or it becomes a decent 60/40 split between him and another driver, then I'll go back to having normal predictions (and that is what I want to do), but I don't think we're quite there yet. Fingers crossed though.
  12. Results - Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Getting the results up quickly this week as we're going back to back with Monaco this weekend. As we can see, it's a very low-scoring week, with a certain Australian driver scuppering a lot of people's predictions. The non-Verstappen pole vote was split between Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris this week. It looked as if @Whiskey and @OrangeKhrush could have been in for a nice differential score here but Norris was pipped to 2nd place by Oscar Piastri in the final Q3 runs. It's been so long since nobody picked "pole position" correctly that I actually had to look up the rules to see if I ever gave out 2 points as a consolation to whoever got closest but I never have so it's 0 across the board for qualifying. Onto the race, and everyone picked 3 of 4 drivers to fill their non-Verstappen podium - Leclerc, Sainz, Perez and Norris. @Whiskey and @The Palace Fan hoovered up here, sticking Norris and Leclerc in their exact positions, while @OrangeKhrush was the only other person to bag 5 points for a driver in the exact correct spot. @RandoEFC, @Stan, @MUFC, @nudge, @Coma and @DeadLinesman all pick up 4 points for having 2 of the 3 drivers correct but neither in the right place. @Tommy suffered the most this weekend as he and @OrangeKhrush were the only ones to be let down by both Sainz and Perez. Nobody predicted Oscar Piastri in their top three or for pole position which is one of the two major reasons why we have such a low-scoring week. Onto the random driver, @RandoEFC and @OrangeKhrush were the only beneficiaries of Nico Hulkenberg's 11th placed finish so score 5 points each. @Tommy and @DeadLinesman can consider themselves unlucky to have missed by one position on either side. The Bonus Question turned out to be a dud this week. Of the 8 drivers trailing their team-mates in the championship (I omitted Hamilton and Bottas as "obvious" picks although even then, Bottas didn't beat his team-mate and Hamilton only did because of a weird decision by Mercedes), only the most ridiculous picks - Lance Stroll and Logan Sargeant - would have bagged 5 points here, and only because their team-mates retired. Gasly, Ricciardo, Piastri and Sainz all saw backing, but none of them were able to defy the form book to finish ahead of their team-mates on Sunday. A poor week overall, but joint Driver of the Day goes to @OrangeKhrush, @The Palace Fan and @Whiskey. @OrangeKhrush sneaking into double figures is enough for him to become the latest narrow leader of the Drivers' Championship, while previous leader @Stan is also overtaken by @RandoEFC. @The Palace Fan is still very much in the hunt with another strong score mitigating his no-show in China. If @Whiskey can continue to close on the competitors in front of him at a rate of 6 points a week, he'll be off the bottom of the table before the halfway point of the season despite missing three rounds of predictions. In the Constructors' championship, the only notable performance really was Red Bull's poor one, the only team to score anything other than 13-14 points. They lose a spot to Aston Martin in the standings while McLaren retain their lead overall. Monaco predictions will be posted tomorrow.
  13. @CaaC (John) enters the Hall of Fame for a third time, and the first since his back to back Spanish and French victories in the 2020-21 season. @nudge is the champion for the second consecutive season - the first time anyone has won the LMS League back to back - congratulations!
  14. The 2023-24 season has now been concluded: The last round showdown at the top of the standings as all of the players that were mathematically able to win the title were eliminated in the first round, meaning that @nudge holds on and wins the Last Man Standing League title by 1 point, ahead of @Viva la FCB and @6666 in joint 2nd place. Congratulations to our top three! @CaaC (John) and @Pyfish both gained several positions in the final standings thanks to being the only two players to score points in the final round. It's hard to hand out a wooden spoon award this year as several entrants who took part in 4 or 5 rounds ended up tied on 5 points. See you all for the Euro 2024 edition!
  15. Results - Round Five Congratulations to @CaaC (John) who wins the final round of the season ahead of @Pyfish. Both remaining contenders picked a third consecutive match winner, and both Brest and PSG dispatched their opponents comfortably. Unfortunately for @Pyfish, Mbappe didn't even feature for PSG but he'd have been doing well anyway to beat @CaaC (John)'s pick, Wissam Ben Yedder, who helped himself to the first of Monaco's four goals against Nantes just 6 minutes into the game. Our points scorers this round: 6 points (3 correct picks + 3 bonus points) - @CaaC (John) 5 points (3 correct picks + 2 bonus points) - @Pyfish 0 points - @nudge, @Viva la FCB, @6666, @Michael, @RandoEFC, @Lucas, @Storts, @Stan, @Tommy, @Bluewolf, @...Dan, @Dan, @Redcanuck, @Rucksackfranzose and @DeadLinesman Thanks to everyone for taking part this season!
  16. Mate you are so sensitive sometimes . There are other big clubs who haven't won things in a long time but it isn't commentworthy every single season because that's been where they've been for most of all our lives. They also don't still have budgets that should see them competing at the top level whereas Man Utd very much still do. Man Utd have just finished 8th and barely anyone is talking about it. It's noteworthy that that's deemed normal now. Even 2-3 years ago people would have been all over that. You're right though that nobody cares about City. It's not an obsession with United though. As you and I have both acknowledged, Man Utd finishing down in 8th is not even in the top 5 stories of the season.
  17. Man Utd finishing 8th and it not even being a point of discussion says it all.
  18. United fans on social media that are glad City won the league because it stopped Arsenal. Weird but it just goes to show what function City play for most football fans. Nobody is actually arsed about them because everyone knows their success is plastic and nobody actually knows any City fans. They just exist as a means to stop teams from winning the league that you don't want. Even my girlfriend's brother who supports Liverpool was saying he'd rather City won it over Arsenal because if Arsenal do you wouldn't hear the end of it (which is odd considering Liverpool fans usually act outraged if neutrals don't line up to back them against Man City in a title race "for the good of football" or whatever, but I digress). It would be brilliant for English football if they get sent packing to at least the Championship following the 115 charges and the whole project fell to pieces.
  19. Sounds like a hint of controversy about Arsenal's winner. Referee was called to the screen but he didn't disallow it. I actually would like to see referees do this more but it would happen against us . A shame not to hold on for a draw but it's meaningless really. Even a win today wouldn't have gained us a league position and Brentford lost so we didn't lose one. That £2.5m prize money per league position is a big deal for us sadly. Still, if we had our deducted points back we now know we were one point away from the top half of the league, 22 points clear of relegation. Even with another difficult summer ahead in terms of transfers, that should be reassurance that our aim for next season is to steer clear from any potential relegation battles. Fingers crossed for no further points deductions.
  20. Gueye takes a free kick for probably the first time in his career and it takes a bizarre deflection into the opposite corner. 0-1.
  21. Calvert-Lewin hits the post. We've done a decent job of defending the box as well. No complaints so far.
  22. As I said on Tuesday night, I'd have backed most of the Championship to put up more of a fight than West Ham under these circumstances today. Useless.
  23. A bit of excitement at the end! Unfortunately the chequered flag came out just as Norris got into the DRS window but it can only be a good sign for future races for Lando to finish less than a second behind.
