Interesting move for the driver market. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a seat somewhere else. Also obviously opens a seat up for someone else to move.

P.S. Canada predictions will be up tomorrow.

Results - Monaco Grand Prix Apologies for only just getting around to this. 0 points this weekend for @Whiskey who didn't make his predictions. With Max Verstappen largely an irrelevance this weekend, we had a pretty classic format for our predictions this weekend. @RandoEFC, @MUFC, @Tommy, @The Palace Fan, @Coma, @DeadLinesman and @OrangeKhrush all bagged 5 points on Saturday for backing Charles Leclerc to take a 3rd pole position around the streets of Monaco. Onto Sunday, one of the most uneventful races in recent history saw a top three of Leclerc, Piastri and Sainz. @Stan was the only one who didn't predict a Leclerc pole to bag the 5 points for his race win, while @OrangeKhrush unsuccessfully gambled on Leclerc losing the lead to Norris at some point during the race. @nudge and @OrangeKhrush still picked up 2 points each for having Leclerc in their top three. Nobody nailed Piastri in 2nd place but @Tommy, @The Palace Fan and @Coma picked up 2 points for having him in 3rd place. @DeadLinesman was the only one to hit double figures for the podium picks with Sainz spot on in 3rd place, a prediction matched by @OrangeKhrush. @Stan was the only other person to place Sainz in their top three but in the wrong place while everyone had Norris somewhere in their podium, meaning that nobody could hit a full house. Gambles on Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso didn't pay off for @RandoEFC, @MUFC or @nudge. There was only one winner on the remaining predictions, @RandoEFC sweeping up 10 points as the only person to predict a 12th placed finish for Daniel Ricciardo, and a day off for the safety car. Here's how the table is effected: A bumper score of 20 points sees @RandoEFC take the top spot for now, with @OrangeKhrush joining him as the first contenders to hit triple figures this season. @Stan and @nudge lose ground with single figure scores. McLaren's 35 points this weekend is the highest achieved by any pairing this season and sees them stretch their Constructors' standing lead to 20 points. Bear in mind that I'll be looking to come up with a solution for those people who have seen their team-mates miss a week to give them a chance in the Constructors'. This will probably just be a case of awarding that team 1 point less than the lowest score of the week just to give them something, but whatever I finally decide, the Constructors' standings are subject to that change as I will back-date it.

I'll finish on this then. £135 > £297. Not enough to overtake the leader but enough for 2nd place I think.

If anyone's got bet365 there's a good free prediction game for both the Euros and the Copa America with a £1m jackpot which will be basically impossible to win but a good prize board below that.

How shite is the prem these days?
RandoEFC replied to Devil-Dick Willie's topic in Premier League - English Football Forum
The problem is that if they had Man City vs Arsenal, Spurs vs Chelsea and Man Utd vs Liverpool on the last day then they don't get to milk each of those big games for a whole weekend at different points throughout the season. All about money and viewing figures from their perspective. They won't see it as missing a trick. -
An actual winner! Two questions for @Dan: do we count the winning boost on bet365 or not? Just to know whether that's £10 > £110 or £10 > £135? Also, am I right in thinking I have the option to risk that because I've only backed a single so far? It's not a rule I've taken advantage of but it strikes me now that if I've got the option of risking £135 on a second bet then I might as well because if I can win an Evens bet I'll end the season, incredibly, in the green .

Not to mention the treatment of Diane Abbott. All so unnecessary and poorly handled.

Been saying this for years. Never been any talk of reforming the Champions League to have a streamlined group stage or get rid of two-legged knockout rounds until the QFs, or have just the group winner go through into a last eight, etc. Instead they've added more and more European fixtures. Even in Europa, there was a time where the group stage was 5 teams and everyone would play once so four fixtures overall. Nowadays it's six games. Having 3rd placed teams drop from the Champions League group stage to the Europa League knockout is unnecessary and extra fixtures as well. I love European football. The Europa League is often more interesting than the Champions League in my opinion, just for the variety. I like the Conference League concept as well. The more fans that can see their club play across the continent, the better. Everyone knows though that expanding European football is the real cause of fixture congestion. It's about time the managers of top clubs and the other powers that be just admit they're prioritising the big franchise clubs and European competition because it makes them all more money and drop this pretend concern about fixture congestion. It's insulting. At least if they admit the truth we can just add it to the list of ways that the rampant capitalism that has been invited into the sport has changed it.

Chances of administration are about 1% or less now with a credible alternative to 777 now in talks to take control of the club and the new stadium reaching completion in under 6 months. We will probably have to make a decent sale before the end of June to avoid another PSR breach, but not to do with administration. The club prefers to sell Onana and try to keep Branthwaite if possible. If it has to be Branthwaite though, we might have to compromise and take less than the £80m asking price but you're right that it won't go anywhere near as close as £40m.

Can't be having clubs like Port Vale making the quarter finals again can we?

Enzo Maresca Leaving Leicester for Chelsea
RandoEFC replied to Cicero's topic in Premier League - English Football Forum
Massive flavour of the month appointment in my opinion. Just as Chelsea looked like they might have a bit of a future under Poch, Boehly goes back to being a meme football owner. -
@The Palace Fan what do we think of John Textor? Starting to sound like a front runner to buy Everton now once the exclusivity agreement with 777 ending this week.
-
Happy for Charles, well deserved win after dominating all weekend. What a shit race though!

Monaco has always been difficult to overtake but this has been an absolute pisstake. Drivers tootling around 5 seconds off the pace on purpose to fuck each other over. Something has to change I'm afraid. Russell doing 76 laps on Mediums no problem is disgusting from Pirelli.
-
Even the prospect that a car could do an entire Grand Prix on a set of Mediums is grounds to sack Pirelli and find a new tyre supplier. I know they're only doing it because it's Monaco and nobody can overtake them if they end up 20 seconds off the pace but still.
-
Wow 77 laps of the front runners on the Hards not making a pit stop. Riveting.
-
The Alpines hit each other as well and it's taken 10 minutes for anyone to notice .
-
Surely that'll be the 2 penalty points needed to tip Magnussen up to a race ban. That was stupid. Took out his team mate as well.

Ridiculous fumble from Onana. It's incredible the highlight reel you could make out of his blunders and goals he shouldn't have conceded after one season with Man Utd. It's mad sitting here I'm actually willing United to win. Goes to show the status of ill feeling City have now reached.
-
Surprised it was even that close after Leclerc's pace all through Practice. Good to see multiple teams mix it with Red Bull and not just Leclerc or Norris knocking him down to 2nd at best. Hope it continues at the more conventional tracks. Leclerc's to lose tomorrow. A big test of whether Fred Vasseur really has managed to get Ferrari to stop Ferrariing.

It's probably about time they split Q1 into two heats somehow, or even just make Q1 a bit longer, at Monaco because it's a lottery having 20 cars out there trying to get a lap in.
