  1. I think we'll need quite a few new signings this summer. A right back (probably won't happen, as I think it will be up for Theo and Agu to cover that), a left back (if Augustinsson leaves), a proper defensive midfielder, a central midfielder (if Klaassen leaves), a replacement for Rashica. Won't be easy to restructure the squad, given our financial means...
  2. Step 1: I'm afraid Selke's loan is valid for another season (we loaned him out for 18 months), and if we don't get relegated next season, we HAVE to buy him for 15 million. Step 2: as above. Selke stays. We're losing Vogt though. Step 5: Thomas Eichin is Leverkusen's chief of youth development as of 1st of July, so you can forget that - I'm afraid Baumann is there to stay. Also in addition to that: it seems Augustinsson is set to leave as well.
  3. I hope I'm wrong, but I think to keep his seat long term, he'll have to regularly stay 1-2 tenths within Max in order for RB to be able to threaten Mercedes in terms of strategy, and I don't think he is capable of that. It's hard to judge him based on last season (thought he was ok, especially since it was his debut season and he changed teams too) and last race, as his car didn't have the upgrades, but he was losing pace pretty fast after the start, and if it wasn't for SC and great strategy, he wouldn't have been able to close the gap to Mercedes (which in itself is not surprising, but considering that Max was able to stay within 3 seconds off Bottas despite being on slower tyres, while Albon lost 12 seconds in 15 laps to Hamilton after being overtaken by him, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his race pace). Again, it's too early to judge, but I just don't think he'll be able to deliver what RB expect from him.
  4. Saw that programme on Servus TV yesterday, was a bit weird to see Vettel with his Ferrari shirt along with Horner, Max and Gasly, haha. In all honesty, wouldn't be surprised if Seb returns to Red Bull at some point. They appear to still have a great relationship, and I don't think Albon will last long...
  5. Also, this gif is the best summary of our season:
  6. Some videos of the team dressing room, bus and plane celebrations Think it's safe to say that everyone is very hungover today Also it's amusing that we celebrate avoiding relegation more than some teams (ahem) celebrate winning the title
  7. Yeah, the tailies I can at least sympathise with, as they are desperate people living in deplorable conditions, so their thirst for change is understandable, even if it's not well thought out and doesn't appear to have an actual solution, and regardless if their means to achieve it are justifiable or not. But the rich living as kings in the first class with their exotic pets and spas and bowling alleys are just shooting themselves in the foot... keeping the status quo would appear to be preferable to them and their interests should lie in protecting it, but the old good power struggle always comes into play, doesn't it... Greedy bastards.
  8. Almost finished with Episode 8 now... must say the little tailie revolution as well as the coup d'etat by the first is very cute, but who do they think will actually run the train once they get rid of Melanie & other engineers?

I was very confused until I realised my laptop was on mute...
  10. That was a good read. So in essence, what has been happening so far in many cases is that the AI didn't remove the bias, but rather automated it On a more serious note, when it comes to facial recognition, it seems like a combination of the quality (or lack thereof) of algorithm training data and physical properties of the universe. I think it's safe to assume that facial recognition is likely to be more accurate on people with lighter skin tones, because more reflected light means more data allowing the software to make a match more accurately, whereas it is more error-prone on people with darker skin? Also regarding Amazon, it's not surprising their recruitment AI tool turned out to be crap. I mean, even their regular internal search algorithm is fucking horrible when you are trying to find some product on their website!

Imagine the photos you could take from up there though...
  12. The player of the season should have gone to Shon Weissmann, in my opinion. At least he good the Golden Boot, well deserved - 30 goals in 31 matches... The 2019/2020 season is now over. Red Bull are champions, Tirol got relegated. Rapid got the CL qualifying spot, WAC qualified for Europa league group stages, while LASK will play in the 3rd round of EL qualification.
  13. Thanks for the links @Mel81x, will properly read it after all the racing today. I remember reading Karen Hao's interactive feature on MIT Technology Review that was related to the topic a while ago, there they had a predictive algorithm called COMPAS, which is used as a risk assessment tool in US courtrooms to decide whether the defendant should be released from jail before their trial or not. The feature had you tweak the algorithm based on certain scenarios to make it "fairer", in order to demonstrate the issues with it and the biases involved; that was an interesting experiment. https://www.technologyreview.com/2019/10/17/75285/ai-fairer-than-judge-criminal-risk-assessment-algorithm/
  14. I donated 50 moneys to make up for it!
  15. Yeah, that was already an issue for me in the past. Wanted to get two simple DSLRs in from a European shop, the customs wanted to charge me almost 300% of their worth as a custom tax. So I just had a friend bring them to me when he came for a visit instead and avoided any fees that way, but that's beyond ridiculous. So I'll definitely need to think this through... And yes, please share if you're able to find anything in your dad's stash, hehe!
  16. Yeah, I thought it could have been that one! Will do more research later, hopefully can find some old pic of the package or something, hehe. Mainly out of curiosity. I've used filters in the past, but only the UV, ND and polarising ones, mostly. But also because it will definitely take a long while until I'm able to get the darkroom all set up... Depends on when I am able to fly back, find a suitable place, get all the equipment and chemicals. Developing process is easy and can be done anywhere without a dedicated darkroom, it's the prints that are problematic. I've been looking at enlargers online, Fotoimpex seem to have some good amateur ones for around 300€, but it's out of stock at the moment, while the more advanced ones are starting at about 1000€... and even then, I'll need to somehow figure out the logistics of transporting it. Haha, I'm not worried, given that there are only a few of us reading this thread anyway
