Some videos of the team dressing room, bus and plane celebrations Think it's safe to say that everyone is very hungover today Also it's amusing that we celebrate avoiding relegation more than some teams (ahem) celebrate winning the title

Yeah, the tailies I can at least sympathise with, as they are desperate people living in deplorable conditions, so their thirst for change is understandable, even if it's not well thought out and doesn't appear to have an actual solution, and regardless if their means to achieve it are justifiable or not. But the rich living as kings in the first class with their exotic pets and spas and bowling alleys are just shooting themselves in the foot... keeping the status quo would appear to be preferable to them and their interests should lie in protecting it, but the old good power struggle always comes into play, doesn't it... Greedy bastards.

Almost finished with Episode 8 now... must say the little tailie revolution as well as the coup d'etat by the first is very cute, but who do they think will actually run the train once they get rid of Melanie & other engineers?

That was a good read. So in essence, what has been happening so far in many cases is that the AI didn't remove the bias, but rather automated it On a more serious note, when it comes to facial recognition, it seems like a combination of the quality (or lack thereof) of algorithm training data and physical properties of the universe. I think it's safe to assume that facial recognition is likely to be more accurate on people with lighter skin tones, because more reflected light means more data allowing the software to make a match more accurately, whereas it is more error-prone on people with darker skin? Also regarding Amazon, it's not surprising their recruitment AI tool turned out to be crap. I mean, even their regular internal search algorithm is fucking horrible when you are trying to find some product on their website!

Imagine the photos you could take from up there though...

The player of the season should have gone to Shon Weissmann, in my opinion. At least he good the Golden Boot, well deserved - 30 goals in 31 matches... The 2019/2020 season is now over. Red Bull are champions, Tirol got relegated. Rapid got the CL qualifying spot, WAC qualified for Europa league group stages, while LASK will play in the 3rd round of EL qualification.

Thanks for the links @Mel81x, will properly read it after all the racing today. I remember reading Karen Hao's interactive feature on MIT Technology Review that was related to the topic a while ago, there they had a predictive algorithm called COMPAS, which is used as a risk assessment tool in US courtrooms to decide whether the defendant should be released from jail before their trial or not. The feature had you tweak the algorithm based on certain scenarios to make it "fairer", in order to demonstrate the issues with it and the biases involved; that was an interesting experiment. https://www.technologyreview.com/2019/10/17/75285/ai-fairer-than-judge-criminal-risk-assessment-algorithm/

I donated 50 moneys to make up for it!

Season 2 of Hanna is out!

Yeah, that was already an issue for me in the past. Wanted to get two simple DSLRs in from a European shop, the customs wanted to charge me almost 300% of their worth as a custom tax. So I just had a friend bring them to me when he came for a visit instead and avoided any fees that way, but that's beyond ridiculous. So I'll definitely need to think this through... And yes, please share if you're able to find anything in your dad's stash, hehe!

Yeah, I thought it could have been that one! Will do more research later, hopefully can find some old pic of the package or something, hehe. Mainly out of curiosity. I've used filters in the past, but only the UV, ND and polarising ones, mostly. But also because it will definitely take a long while until I'm able to get the darkroom all set up... Depends on when I am able to fly back, find a suitable place, get all the equipment and chemicals. Developing process is easy and can be done anywhere without a dedicated darkroom, it's the prints that are problematic. I've been looking at enlargers online, Fotoimpex seem to have some good amateur ones for around 300€, but it's out of stock at the moment, while the more advanced ones are starting at about 1000€... and even then, I'll need to somehow figure out the logistics of transporting it. Haha, I'm not worried, given that there are only a few of us reading this thread anyway

Lomography does make some funky emulsions, so it's a good call. The search for the elusive sepia film still continues though, hehe. The only potential lead that a quick search provided was someone on a photography forum claiming they used to see Fuji Sepia chromogenic film rolls on sale in Japan during the 90s, that's all I've got though! Another option (bar post processing sepia baths) is to use a sepia filter on the lens while shooting a colour negative film. Like this Hoya one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/155633-REG/Hoya_S58SEPA_58_mm_Sepia_A.html. Would like to give it a go, if only to see how it turns out. And I agree with B&W being preferable to colour. My only "problem" with it is the fact that I seem to get the urge to shoot nudes whenever I have a B&W film loaded into the camera
-
Just over 6€ for a roll. I got the XP2 in particular, as it can be developed in C-41 processing, so any lab should be able to do it. It's not a traditional silver gelatin B&W film (it's actually chromogenic), but it makes things easier and I heard it scans beautifully... Ilford still makes plenty of film, some great choices for affordable prices there. Now you got me curious - did you shoot in sepia with film??? I know it traditionally used to be done as the final step in processing by soaking the prints in a sepia toning bath, but I've also been hearing rumors about actual sepia toned film for years, haha! Never ever came across it myself, so just assumed it's one of those urban legends, lol.

I haven't seen any of these players bar Grgic, so can't comment... LASK fans seem to be excited by the prospect of Madsen though haha, and they see him as a direct replacement for Michorl; I've also read that the transfer fee is below 1.6m. Also yes, it's a shame if their best players leave, but in the end, that's the operating model of LASK as well as other Austrian clubs. Develop young players, sell them on. That's also what Werner said today as well - they are investing into young players, hoping they will take the same path as Michorl, for example - signing for a club early on in their careers, developing well and then moving on after a few years.
-
The films have finally arrived... That should last me for a while, haha. If there are no faults with the camera (light leaks, etc), I will probably start developing the films by myself again. The final goal is to set up a darkroom at home in the future, but it will depend on the space I have and equipment I can get my hands on for reasonable price... Those two days shooting film have brought me more joy than last few years shooting digital, and I only took 6 shots so far
-
Yes, after a season like that, there will definitely be some players leaving. Michorl, Schlager and Frieser almost surely, Trauner possibly too. Jürgen Werner said earlier today that they want to invest the money received from European competitions into 4-5 young players. They have already signed Mads Emil Madsen (Silkeborg IF, the most expensive signing ever for LASK) and Mamoudou Karamoko (Wolfsburg II), and are reportedly close to signing Yevgen Cheberko (Zorya Luhansk), with Lukas Grgic returning to the club too. Tetteh will go back to Red Bull, and Klauss future is unclear at this point. So it's fair to say that the squad will look quite different next season...
-
Klauss also scored twice, but the second one was disallowed for an alleged offensive foul... Very questionable decision, just like a few others that went against LASK today.
-
Rapid won 3-1, meaning LASK can't caught them anymore. Hartberg v WAC has been postponed due to weather, so if WAC win tomorrow, LASK will go down to fourth - with the remaining last match against Red Bull on the weekend...
