And your internet connection is working! At least now we know we're not blocked in China...

Yes, if you don't have money or contacts, you're offside...

I personally find the accusations outrageous Am considering taking R2D2 and the last case of whisky I hid in the sick bay and going rogue.

All crew cabin have en-suite facilities; I was just using it as an excuse to find that liquor storage...
-
Finally found the plans of the ship... I was getting lost everytime I went to the bathroom at night!... Check it out carefully; it even has a "liquor storage" (24) right next to the crew cabins (23) We did get ourselves the best ship possible indeed...

Arcadia sounds good! I also agree with giving the captain's position to Mel81x as it looks like he's/she's/it is the only person onboard that can fly this thing anyway! Robbie has more important things to do... speaking about that, who's in charge of the supplies??? I need some free space in the cargo room for a few boxes of, erm... personal items...

And here's a nice simple visualisation showing how the rings form:

Geez I don't know how those divers can even swim with those massive balls of steel... You wouldn't get my anywhere near that thing... It's a magnificent animal though.

Ah, and here we go - starting as a Mars colonist ship and turning into smuggling, terrorising bunch of pirates in just a few hours...
-
May I suggest... That will either intimidate everyone or get us killed

Yes although HAL killing the crew was the result of him going insane as a result of this error... Basically his primary programming was "accurate processing of information without distortion or concealment", yet his orders for the mission required him to keep the discovery of the Monolith and the real purpose of the mission a secret for reasons of national security. This contradiction created the aforementioned Hofstadter-Moebius loop reducing HAL to experiencing symptoms of schizophrenia and paranoia. So in the end HAL made the decision to kill the crew, allowing him to obey both his hardwired primary instructions to report data truthfully, and his orders to keep the purpose of the mission a secret. Poor HAL; so misunderstood and as always it's the fault of the humans in the end!
-
He'll serve me us well... Hey we can also run the ship the old school pirate democracy style anyway...
-
Just a fancy term for the error condition common to advanced autonomous computers when it is given a directive in conflict with its basic design principles, and is unable to resolve that conflict, resulting in symptoms similar to a schizophrenic psychosis in humans. That's basically just how HAL went mad...

Just started watching Wayne after I stumbled upon it by accident today. And it's sooooo good. Wayne, a 16 year-old Dirty Harry with a heart of gold, sets out on a dirtbike from Boston to Florida with his new friend Del to get back the shit-hot 78' Trans-Am that was stolen from his father before he died. An action comedy, it's John Wick via John Hughes. Exactly the stuff I would have loved as a 16 year old and after I watched the first episode I just realised I still do You know; the rebellious teen against the world stuff; typical teenage angst; pessimism, disillusionment and social estrangement. Funny and gritty at the same time. Like The Catcher of the Rye, James Dean, The Outsiders, On the Road and the likes... Good stuff.

It's R2-D2 then! And as per @Bluewolf's request, we'll also be accompanied by another one... I present you... Robby the Robot!
-
Poor HAL just became trapped in his flawed design...programmed specifically for the Discovery mission with instructions that directly conflicted with this primary programming, he was always destined to fall victim to a Hofstadter-Moebius loop... Poor thing
-
I'm really not captain material though... Might as well just have the robot in charge
