  1. Will do! I'm still going through Feynman's Lectures on Physics and Christoph Schiller's Motion Mountain to refresh my knowledge on fundamentals of physics, so I will move on to something more complex, preferably engineering after that
  2. Glad you liked it; I love his style of writing, in particular that subtle, not-over-the-top humour! Currently reading Cambodia: Report from a Stricken Land by Henry Kamm, a concise history and in-depth analysis of 30 years civil war and genocide, events that led to it and the consequences as well as future outlook. Bought it from one of the book sellers in Phnom Penh while drinking beer on the riverside, a good deal for just a couple of $ and a good read so far.
  3. Horrible news, doctors have confirmed that Nouri has suffered severe permanent brain damage with no chance of recovery. So sad, condolences to him and his family, it's so fucking unfair.

    you're evil
  6. It really depends on what is the actual problem behind it, as heart arrhytmias is a bit of a vague term. Doctors usually advise against returning to professional sport in most cases, but there are a few pro athletes with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. If it's hypertrophic cardiomyopathy though (which is the leading cause of cardiac arrests in young athletes), I doubt he'd be able to continue though.
  7. I read yesterday that there's no long-term damage for his heart, so that's good news already. His preliminary brain scan doesn't show any signs of damage either, but of course they can only confirm it once he's fully awake... It looks like this could end much much better than similar cases in the past, fingers crossed!
  8. A real eye candy: AWAKEN is a feature documentary that explores "humanity's relationship with technology and the natural world." "Shot over a 5-year period in more than 30 countries, the film pioneers new time-lapse, time-dilation, underwater, and aerial cinematography techniques to give audiences new eyes with which to see our world. AWAKEN is a celebration of the spirit of life, an exploration of the Earth, and an ode to the Cosmos."
  9. The new "Choose life' monologue was probably even better than the original one!

Haha, there's actually a scientific basis for man flu, I'm only teasing you
  11. Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic, and it's fucking awesome! It's the only theatrical release in movie history that still continues to be played in cinemas today. I know there's a remake, but there's no way I'm watching it.

    Get well soon!
  13. I can only see this being a negotiating strategy for a new fair deal for Silverstone. There's no way Liberty Media would allow the British GP or any other historical race to disappear from F1 calendar. If it works though, I wonder if other circuits will follow suit trying to get better deals for themselves.
  14. I follow it as much as I can every year, never been to though - would love to go one day for sure. I love motorbikes and street circuits, there's something special about them, but this is a mad man's race, so deadly... That Bob Price crash into the pub wall a few years ago still makes my stomach churn.
  15. WTF, how did that happen?... Anyway, 6 hours of Nürburgring coming up this weekend! I love WEC, find it more exciting than current F1.
  16. To be honest, I always wonder why people are surprised about top racing drivers having questionable personalities, at least on track. I think the very nature of motorsports sort of means that in order to be the best (or one of the best), you have to be more self-centered, confident to borderline arrogant, dominant and ruthlessly competitive, willing to do almost anything for a win. Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Schumi, Senna, Prost, Lauda, Mansell etc - each of them was a bit of a dick.
  17. As much as I'm aware, those are usually underlying congenital/genetic heart conditions that are pretty hard to spot in otherwise healthy individuals, as it doesn't usually show in regular screenings like ECG. It's like a ticking bomb, really. Calls for better screening are definitely justified, but I'm not sure that economic costs of it would be viable for many athletes/clubs/associations bar the highest level. Related anecdotal example: my mum accidentally found out that she actually had a congenital heart valve defect in her mid-fifties only, after getting comprehensive screening due to unrelated issues.
  18. So apparently he had heart arrhythmia, was resuscitated, then airlifted to the hospital in a helicopter Ajax tweeted he is in a stable condition and his heart beats on its own now though.
  19. Hopefully it's just some sort of a heatstroke and not anything more serious
  20. Ajax's Abdelhak Nouri has collapsed on the pitch during a friendly against us just now... There's an ambulance on the pitch, looks like they've been reviving him for the last 10 minutes or so, everyone's shocked. Hopefully it's not as serious as it looks.
  21. Aaaand as expected, we get our first sponsor from China. A deal with Heji18.com, a Chinese online gaming and betting provider, will allegedly bring us around 800.000 Euro annually.
  22. We have just completed the first ever marketing transfer in the club's history A Chinese striker Yuning Zhan is joining us for a 2 year loan from Arnheim/West Brom. Looks like the first step into the Chinese market.
