Aspirin+C in the morning and afternoon, a glass or two of whisky before bed.
  5. Got this today. Haven't read proper science fiction for a long time, and this apparently got good reviews, so decided to give it a go...

I'm eager to try OnePlus the next time I need a new phone, mainly for their camera sensors. Or a new Huawei as they are cooperating with Leica now. Anyone here has one of those?

The same Carnegie who wrote How to Win Friends and Influence People and similar rubbish? Gee I hate it. As for phones, I bought Asus Zenfone for the first time a while ago, positively surprised with the battery life. Also have an old Galaxy, love it too.
  8. Maybe I'll check it out too, then.
  9. I started watching it last year and honestly just had to switch it off after 20 minutes or so, it was just so fucking weird and pretentious with annoying sounds and strange camera work... I keep on hearing that it's really good now though, not sure if I should give it another go?
  10. Taboo and Westworld are the only new series that I've truly enjoyed recently. Oasis started well, but there's only the pilot released so far, and it's yet to be seen if Amazon will make a full series out of it. Other than that, I started watching a lot of shows, but gave up sooner or later; there's definitely lack of quality.
  11. To be honest, I much prefer Spaghetti westerns over the American ones. They are somehow much more epic - they are also grittier, dirtier, nihilistic; feels more realistic in their appearance; they feature antiheroes as protagonists, and the representation of the villain is also much more complex than simply "this is a bad guy". I would watch anything with Clint Eastwood though, haha. I watched Death Rides a Horse (1967) a few days ago, a revenge story with a twist starring Lee van Cleef who's amazing again, and John Phillip Law who didn't impress me much, his character and acting just feels "wooden", and his monotone John Wayne impression doesn't help either, but it was interesting to see the chemistry between the two. 7/10 Next up is Once upon a Time in the West, Mercenary (set to be released on BluRay this year!), The Great Silence, and Duck, you Sucker! After that I will lighten up the mood and turn to some Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, namely their Trinity movies hehe.
  12. Two blasts apparently, and one unexploded device found. 10 dead, 50+ wounded so far. All metro stations now closed.
  13. I get 15 beers in a local bar for that amount of money
  14. Technically, it's already Monday here, hehe... Watching yet another Western and having a few beers to start my week
  15. I also seem to always end up in a biergarten, bar or pub. And yeah, I also like blaming the weather. It's either too hot, so I need some refreshments, or it's raining non-stop, so there's nothing else to do
  16. No, not really, but it was a pretty good weekend for me went out for a few drinks both Saturday and Sunday, only worked a couple of hours, Werder won and then all other things pretty much went my way, too.
  17. The Big Gundown (1966) A very stylish Spaghetti Western with Lee van Cleef in a classic bounty hunter role and Tomas Milian as a Mexican bandit. It has surprisingly much more substance to it and doesn't follow a standard Western formula, but features more sociopolitical commentary while still maintaining its entertainment value. It even has a character who is a Nazi-like Austrian Baron with a monocle and a Dracula cape, ffs Top notch camera work and amazing score by Morricone, as usual! 7/10
  18. I hope so! He announced that he's working on a direct sequel 5 years ago, there haven't been any news since then other than him claiming to have "a lot of plans for American Gods" in interviews. There's a short novella (The Monarch of the Glen) which is set up about 2 years after American Gods with Shadow now travelling in Europe, and then there's also Anansi Boys, which is not a sequel, but belongs to the same universe and I think they would adapt it for TV later too.
  19. Yes, he looks like a good choice to play Shadow! Also, I made a mistake, the series start on the 30th April only
  20. Nicotine enhances cognitive function, working memory and overall performance of the brain, and there's also evidence suggesting that it may act as a neuroprotective agent even. It is certainly not "the evil drug", it's all that additional shit in tobacco and byproducts of burning it (tar) that is bad for one's health...
  21. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) Well nothing has changed, this is still the same masterpiece as it used to be. The movie has got absolutely everything, and it could just be one of the best movies of all time. Slow pace, wide open shots of the landscape, close up shots of the faces, sparse dialogue; it doesn't get any better than this. That last showdown in the cemetery is the greatest moment in cinema ever. 10/10
  22. Well you didn't miss much, to be fair... TFF was dying, so we moved to a new place, haha.
  23. Yeah I know Andre, I've seen them all before hehe. Want to watch more of Corbucci and Sollima this time too, there are quite a few great Spaghetti Westerns that do not get much attention.
