  1. Expected a higher transfer fee. And also a better club. But his contract expires next year, so yeah... I like Kalajdzic and hope he does well, but I think he'll struggle in the Premier League.
  2. Official now: it's been scrubbed for today Next attempt on Friday, if they resolve the issue with the Engine 3 bleed. Launch window is supposed to open again on September 2, Friday, 16:48 GMT.
  3. Unclear as of now. Still working on that engine issue, the countdown has been on hold for about 30 minutes now. If they don't find a workaround soon, the launch will be scrubed. If they find a workaround, the launch window opens in about 15 minutes and will be open for 2 hours - weather permitting. So it could still launch today, but it's not looking very good...
  4. Good news: the crack apears to be just a crack in the thermal protection system foam (insulation), and not in the actual structure, so it shouldn't be an issue for launch. Not-so-good news: the countdown is now on hold for over 10 minutes at T-40 minutes, as the LH team discuss the Engine 3 issue with the launch director.
  5. More money to waste on non-reusable launch system and poor political decisions? No thanks I'd rather get into a joint venture with Musk.
  6. You don't have to worry John, there's nobody else but the two of us in this thread anyway Yeah, it's better that such issues happen during uncrewed test launch than later on when it truly matters and lives are at stake, but it's just really hard to stay positive when the SLS has been in development since 2011, was planned to be fully operational before 2017, so it's now years behind schedule and massively over-budget (which doesn't bother me because it's not my money, but still), and they still are struggling.
  7. Yes I know John, I literally just posted that... Just hearing that the troubleshooting for Engine 3 doesn't seem to work It's going from exciting to frustrating really fast.
  8. Working on a potential crack in the intertank and an issue with one of the engines I'll be very surprised if it flies today.
  9. They re-chilled the lines and the fueling is continuing, currently the team has been given the go ahead for fueling the upper stage. So hopefully the hydrogen leak was not serious or just false alarm
  10. Crew Dragon is the name of the spacecraft And Zero-G indicator is well, a zero gravity indicator
  11. I swear those zero g indicators are my favourite part about spaceflight
  12. Technically, he was talking about the leagues there, so cup matches don't count
  13. I mean, it's all about preferences, and it's totally ok. The annoying thing is where people start a dick measuring contest about "which league is the best". How do you even measure that, objectively? Literally impossible.
  14. Just read that Reus said he likes to watch the Premier League or La Liga when it is FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid or Manchester United vs Manchester City. So he watches a total of 4 matches a season?
  15. In terms of new breakthroughs, yeah, possibly. But when you think about it, physics played a key role in understanding the principles of electromagnetism, thermodynamics, mechanics, light, etc. and then that knowledge was used for countless things and improvements in our daily lives like electricity, transportation & aviation, optics & imaging, means of communication, advances in medical technology, and so on. But then again, it's what I meant in my previous post - most of the inventions, discoveries and breakthroughs that have had a huge impact on our lives were usually a result of interdsciplinary knowledge and discoveries. Even your own example, semiconductors - you need the knowledge of both physics and chemistry to invent and manufacture it. Materials Science, in general, is a field where physics and chemistry are inseparable.
  16. When you say "most beneficial to humans in their day to day life", what exactly do you mean? Based on your last sentence, I assume that you're asking people's opinions on which field of science has brought the most progress and improvements to our daily lives, making it as comfortable as possible? If that's the case, I don't think you can really answer that because all branches of science are interconnected, and pretty much all of the man-made things in our lives are applications of scientific knowledge from different fields combined together, one way or the other. But I'd actually like to give a shoutout to engineering, as without it, scientific knowledge would be "just" knowledge without actual practical application.

    History

Drought is not nice, but this is so cool!
  18. It's good. It's not normally something I watch, but my dad watched it all twice already and so I involuntarily caught most of it, too good dialogues, good action. Great soundtrack.
  19. All this talk about Wild West books got me doing some research and I just found out that Die Söhne der Großen Bärin book series by Liselotte Welskopf-Henrich actually contained 6 novels, whereas I only read three and didn't even know the other three existed! Looking for them online now, that will definitely be my next read
  20. I've been a bookworm ever since I started reading at 3 years old, and fortunately happened to grow up in a country and family where reading books was extremely encouraged. We had plenty of public libraries, bookstores on every corner, books were extremely cheap, too. Such good memories.
  21. I've read every single Western novel written by Karl May, was obsessed with them as a kid searched for them in libraries, bookstores and flea markets, and spent my school lunch money on them haha. Now, I have over 80 novels and a Gesammelte Werke digital edition which contains 300 titles (books and short stories). So yeah... If they cancel him and his books, I'm going to riot
