A video I made about becoming Emperor in Elder Scrolls Online (the biggest PVP achievement). I don't know how well it translates for people who've never played the game, but I figured I'd post it here anyway.

Yeah I remember that interview he did on Top Gear right after the move. Jeremy was making fun of him for it. But it goes to show that the 'it's just the car' argument simplifies so much of what goes being into a successful F1 driver. You have to be a good enough driver to earn a good seat in the first place, and then you need to have the foresight to actually join a team that can deliver you the car you need to fulfill your ambitions. From what I remember, it was largely Hamilton's own decision too. Just a good feeling he got after talking to Mercedes and especially Lauda. So good on him.

Rewatching The X-Files. This must be my third time, although I've only ever watched up to season 7. This time I intend to watch all of it, including the new seasons. A few episodes in I'm already super into it again. It's just so fun and well-written. It really is my comfort food of television.

Twin Peaks Honestly having a hard time struggling through this, especially now that the supposed 'best' part of the series is apparently behind me. I get that it's old but there's shows from around the same era that aged much more gracefully. I don't get the appeal and the criticisms I see online are primarily discarded with variations of 'it's supposed to suck.' It's sad because it inspired a lot media that I do enjoy, so I was more than ready to enjoy this, but alas.

Catching up on ESO quests while listening to the Conan soundtrack. It makes everything more epic.

I expect Red Bull to be the favorites next year as well, just with less distance to the rest of the field. Ferrari for now don't have a team capable of fighting for a championship and I doubt that'll change in 100 days. Mercedes will probably be a lot closer. I'm really curious though what will happen there in terms of the driver order. Normally Lewis is still the faster driver, but if Russell can hold on to the consistency he showed through the first half of 2022, he'll be tough to beat in the same car.

Started healing a high-end pvp group in Elder Scrolls Online. Really fun.

I don't know if it's true but Ziggo's Nascar reporter said that he practiced this move with his brother in a video game before doing it irl.

It's a bit more nuanced than the headline made it out to be but he should still know better, especially in the wake of the tiny shitstorm that emerged when he made that radio comment in Spa.

I like Fernando's not-giving-a-shit attitude where he just says what he wants, but he has to be careful to not just be a hater at this point.

Watched Midnight Club because I enjoyed Flanagan's previous series, but this one was much less exciting than what he made before. Still well-made in places but some of the characters were annoying and the plot was convoluted and lacked focus.

Just wait for Drive to Survive to weaponize both fanbases even more when they dive into the costcap stuff next season.

I'm over the minor crisis I had during the Singapore snoozer and the 2-hour Japan wait. My favorite track is up next. The F1 fandom can get dumped into the ocean though.

They were a convenient excuse used by Japanese generals to end the war on somewhat honorable terms. Always makes for a good litmus test on whether people truly grasp how history works.

Speaking of heavily modded things, a friend sent me this video yesterday. I'm a big fan of the original games so I'll definitely try to play this.

I reinstalled FEAR. It's really incredible that a 17-year-old game can hold up so well. The AI/gunfights are still leagues above almost anything coming out today. Doesn't look half bad either. The one thing I do to make it more fun is to avoid using the bullet time mechanic as that makes the game too easy. Also been playing Ghost Recon: Wildlands. In some parts it's incredible (scope, gunfights, presentation), but in other areas you have to deal with the typical Ubisoft approach consisting of copy+paste design with little depth, pointless microtransactions and the usual array of design oversights leading to a buggy/flawed experience. In other words, I'm glad I got it but I'm also glad I only paid 8 euros for it. And beyond that I spend several evenings of the week playing PVP in Elder Scrolls Online. This patch I respecced to a healer and I seem to not suck at it.
