Pablo Marí Joins Arsenal

Recommended Posts

Flamengo defender Pablo Marí is rumored to be on his way to Arsenal.

Marí is spanish and went to Brazil last year and was a big part of the team that won the brazilian league and Copa Libertadores.

He'd probably be cheap and while not a world beater probably also an improvement over the CBs current on Arsenal squad.

Before joining Flamengo, he was owned by Manchester City. So Arteta is probably familiar with him.

A 26 year old who spent a season on loan at NAC Breda and another at Deportivo La Coruña before going to Flamengo...I can't say I'm very optimistic about this one. We have enough mediocre defenders.

I think he´s a solid defender. Left-footed; passes the ball very well; his long-range passing in special is one of his best attributes; good in the air as well. On the negative side, he´s kinda slow. Not a world-beater but a very solid defender.

For a fee of less than 10 million euros, it´s good business, in my opinion.

Arsenal still have a chance to sign the player – Move could cost up to €15m

There’s still a chance that Flamengo defender Pablo Mari could be signing for Arsenal this month, according to reports from Brazil.

Journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira says a deal could still be done, as long as the Gunners improve their offer for the 26-year-old.

On his Youtube channel, the reporter claims the London side have no money to make the signing now, and that’s why they’ve been trying to get the player on a loan deal.

But it makes no sense for Flamengo to loan out a regular starter with no guarantee that Arsenal would buy him later. That’s why the Rio de Janeiro side are waiting for the Gunners to pay an initial fee now or sign a document showing they will buy the player in the summer.

The journalist says this is the only way for a deal to happen, and live on ESPN last night, he’s claimed that the move could cost Arsenal up to €15m.

Pablo Mari even travelled to London at the weekend, but due to the lack of an agreement between the clubs, he’s now expected to rejoin Flamengo’s squad until things are sorted.

According to reports in Brazil, Arsenal will pay 5 million euros for a 6-month loan of Pablo Marí. This is an excellent deal for Flamengo. Wow.

And with the money, Flamengo has already announced the purchase of Leo Pereira, a really promissing young defender.

Flamengo is quickly becoming the dominant force in south american football.
