It's a big game for Ukraine against North Macedonia today. Really it is a must win match for both sides, if they want to have a serious chance at qualifying. Both teams are currently level on points with Italy, but the Italians have a game in hand. Ukraine unfortunately have key players Tsyhankov and Yarmolenko injured, so they won't play against North Macedonia. But Ukraine should still have the firepower to defeat a tough North Macedonian side. The match will be played in Prague, in the Czech Republic.

In the other match in this group today, Italy should secure an easy win at home against Malta.

Dovbyk has the first best chance of the match. Dovbyk collected a past, held off his marker with his strength as he ran into the area, he then turned his marker inside out with a dummy and eventually pulled off a shot from a tight angle that the Macedonian keeper Dimitrievski did well to block. Ukraine having most of the play early on here.

Mudryk with another chance for Ukraine, as Mudryk was put through with a lovely pass on the left flank. He used his blistering pace to run at goal and he pulled off a shot that forced another excellent block by the Macedonian keeper Dimitrievski!

North Macedonia with their first real chance on the counter attack, as Miovski was found with a through ball. He had Mykolenko marking his run, but Miovski managed to pull off a shot on target, but it was straight at Trubin and easily saved by the Ukrainian goalie.

Sudakov gives Ukraine the lead, as his shot from outside the area took a deflection and found the back of the net! It was a goal that was coming to be honest, as Ukraine have been very dominant in this opening 30 minutes!

North Macedonia now with their best phase of the match, as they know anything less than a win will surely ensure that they don't qualify. They forced Trubin into two good saved. First from Miovski and then from Askovski. Those were the best two chances Macedonia have had in this match so far. As Ukraine look to sit on their lead until half-time.

At half-time it's Ukraine 1-0 North Macedonia. That was quite an impressive half for Ukraine, they dictated the play and created plenty of chances. I expect at least one more goal from Ukraine, if they keep this up in the 2nd half.

Another huge chance for Ukraine, as Dovbyk was found on the left flank, with a lovely pass. Dovbyk then had the intelligence to find an unmarked on rushing Mudryk in front of goal, with a lovely pass. Mudryk met the pass with a shot on goal, but Dimitrievski made an excellent save, to keep North Macedonia in the match.

Sudakov produces and excellent swerving shot at goal from outside the area, which forces a superb save from Dimitrivski, which then hit the cross-bar and went out for a corner for Ukraine. Ukraine are really dominating here at the end.

Dimitrievski makes yet another excellent save for North Macedonia. The Ukrainian substitute, Malinovskyi, played the other substitute Yaremchuk through on goal, with a clever pass and Yaremchuk's shot at goal was brilliantly blocked by Dimitrievski with his foot. Ukraine really should be several goals ahead here, it's only Dimitrievski's great saves that have prevented Ukraine from scoring more goals here in Prague.

Karavayev scores Ukraine's 2nd goal, to seal the win! Karavayev ran down the left flank, he skipped past a challenge by a Macedonian player in his own half. Karavayev then ran into the Macedonian half of the pitch, he saw Dimitrievski off of his goal line and Karavayev shot from long range, and found the back of the net!

Ukraine 2-0 North Macedonia

In the end it was a key 3 points that Ukraine earned over North Macedonia. It lifts Ukraine into 2nd place in the group, even if it is temporary, as Italy play Malta later on today.

As far as Ukraine's win today is concerned, it's naturally great that they earned the 3 points, but in truth, they could and should have scored more than 2 goals. Goal difference could be crucial, if Ukraine find themselves level on points with Italy when this group is concluded. But Ukraine will hopefully score many goals against Malta, when Ukraine play them on Tuesday.

Final score: Ukraine 2-0 North Macedonia
