Girona seem quite formidable this season.

Doubt anyone at all would have had them top of the league by mid-December...

The signs were there, during the 2nd half of last season, where they played some excellent football. But I agree, I don't think anyone would have imagined that they'd be top of the La Liga table by December, at the start of this season. I think that the transfer of Artem Dovbyk to Girona this summer, has really propelled them to that extra level though. It's his first season at the club, yet he is already Girona's leading scorer with 8 league goals so far, despite having missed some matches. Dovbyk is also Girona's biggest assist maker, as he has 4 assists to his name so far this season. Dovbyk has formed an excellent partnership with his fellow Ukrainian at Girona, Tsyhankov, as they seem to have a telepathic understanding at times on the playing field.

Besides Dovbyk and Tsyhankov, the other Girona players that have also really played well, are the Brazillian winger Savio, the left-back Miguel Gutierrez and the defender Eric Garcia. Girona ripped Barcelona apart yesterday and they made a real statement with that win away to the Catalan giants. There are no signs of Girona's form dipping and they are always exciting to watch whenever they play. It looks like Girona will continue to give Real Madrid a real run for their money in this season's title race.

I wouldn't have even had them in Europa spots.

Had this been Sevilla, Villarreal(both of which are shit this year), Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad or even Real Betis, it would be more understandable.
