Thursday 15th February - Celtic 1-0 Zenit St Petersburg (1st Leg)

Recommended Posts

Not confident at all. I'd be pleased with a 0-0 or a 1-1. It's been a long run of shit form heading into this, so if we stay in the tie we can hopefully head over for the 2nd leg with more momentum.

Sinclair versus Mancini this evening. I imagine he's desperate to prove a point.

Mancini was right not to play the Championship standard Sinclair.

Pretty underwhelmed with them as a team tbh, but with the massive gulf in individual quality they could still easily win.

Dogs of war stuff, it's like watching a non-league side get over a club in a 3rd round tie. No quality whatsoever where it matters, just lots of running around hard.

Zenit are very beatable too.

You're right, it's shite when a far financially weaker team dominates and tries to overwhelm technically superior players with pressing and intensity.

The team with more money and better players should always just get to win.

Not what I'm saying, I'm just shocked at how abysmal Celtic are in the final third.

That's hardly a star studded Zenit St Petersburg side either, it's not a David V Goliath fixture.

It's hard when they're playing pretty defensively and packing their box. It's not like there's a lot of space to play into, and even then we could easily be a goal or two up.

And they've spent something like 100 million this season. We couldn't dream of signing players like Mammana or Paredes.

Fair point.

I do hope you win.

I'm pretty sure we're gonna create a couple more scrappy half-chances, Zenit will open up with 10 minutes to go and then score a last gasp away goal.

celtic go ahead!

Musonda has made a big difference since coming on. Big part in the build up to the goal. Deserved lead.

Near-perfect performance against a really experienced, defensive side hoping for a lucky away goal. I honestly would've taken 0-0.
