Looks like a loan swap xD

Rondon has a worse Premier League strike rate than Gayle. If we are bringing him in we shouldn't be sending Gayle out. Gayle and Joselu are obviously not good enough but on occasion Gayle does work with the others.

The only hope is that Rondon's below average strike rate is because he played for Pulis and Pardew.

Last season

Gayle 23(12) 6 goals

Rondon 32(4) 7 goals

Dwight Gayle is fairly quick, mobile and a good finisher. He shouldn't be a focal point of an attack because of his lack of height, but he would be a good striker for most Premier League teams. Truth be told we only sold him because he was one of the only squad players with a good sell on value.

I've just read some West Brom fan comments.

Fairly unanimous that he is a hard worker but a clear split between people who think he was hindered by Pulis and people who think he is a donkey.

It seems a bit of a risk to let Gayle leave instead of keeping him with Rondon. Let's hope it comes off.

Newcastle and West Brom have agreed a season-long swap for Salomon Rondon and Dwight Gayle.

Sky Sports News understands Newcastle will pay a fee of around £2m for the Venezuela international Rondon, who is currently on Tyneside having a medical.

West Brom suffered a surprise opening-day defeat at home to Bolton but will boost their attacking options by taking Gayle – who we understand is in the Midlands finalising the move - as part of the deal.

  • The title was changed to Salomon Rondon Completes Loan Move to Newcastle

It’s not a like-for-like swap. Newcastle have let go a a small, nippy forward who’s useful in and around the box and have brought in a target man and now don’t seem to have somebody to play alongside that target man because the bloke you’d say should probably play alongside the target man has been loaned out so the club could bring in the target man.

Good deal for West Brom this though based on Gayle’s record. They had twenty shots on goal at the weekend and scored one, so bringing in somebody with the record Gayle has is a big piece of business.

Good deal for both parties.

Rondon will be that frustrating limited striker that the Newcaslte fans will eventually warm too.

Dwight Gayle will be adored at West Brom like he is everywhere he goes.

It's a win win for everybody.
