IgnisExcubitor
Don't follow the main league. Never have. I follow the ISL, which Mel and AMG explained is like IPL, and being from Mumbai I support the Mumbai. Have even gone to the stadium in the last couple of seasons. We are doing good for a change this season.

Eco
Mumbai City FC vs. FC Goa is coming on in an hour, and is actually being shown on ESPN+, so I figured I'll watch it and see what's the ISL is like.

Eco
Oh my, it looks like there are less than 5k in the stadium....for some reason I would have assumed the place is packed with this being two of better teams in the league.
Eco
Wait! There is a player named Jackie Chan?
Eco
Mumbai's defense is looking shaky and are picking up a few yellow cards early. Goa is getting a lot of good chances based only on Mumbai's mistakes.
Eco
Finally a goal in the game. Goa's pressure is too much and the ball rolls in to put them up 1-0 against Mumbai City.
Eco
That's a great entry pass to set up that goal. Nothing the keeper could have done there.
Eco
Mumbai 0 - 1 Goa at Half-time. Goa should be up by 2 or 3. Mumbai look unable to get the ball forward and create chances.
Eco
What an absolute awful attempt in the box leads to a PK for Goa which will surely end Mumbai's chances of getting points here.
Eco
And it's in! Goa is now up 2-0 and have surely won this game and will move up to 3rd place.
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted February 1, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted February 1, 2019 Hey sorry was watching the game wasn't on the forums. That's Goa for you they create so many chances but somehow we will never win this league.
Eco
Goa wins it 2-0. Mumbai were absolutely dreadful in all facets of the match. Supposedly they were without their lead striker, but still, that was embarrassing.
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted February 17, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted February 17, 2019 With Bangalore losing to Delhi today we have a chance to catch them and go top of the table on goal difference. I really hope we beat Kerala tomorrow.

I almost gagged. One day, I'd love to hear your thoughts on why you think India hasn't done better with football. They seem ripe for it. https://khelnow.com/news/article/indian-football-2019-us-football-in-same-situation-reforms-i-league-isl-mls
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted October 23, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted October 23, 2019 Goa FC start the season out well with a 3-0 thumping to Chennai. Bangalore drew with Northeast United. We just have to keep the momentum up and try to win the whole thing this time.
Subscriber nudge+ Posted October 30, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted October 30, 2019 A good read (and a related podcast) about the reform in the Indian football: https://www.theasiangame.net/light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel-for-indian-football/ So finally a clearer hierarchy and a workable pyramid system with promotion/relegation in place from 2024/25. Hope it works out for you.

Hope it works out for you. I just want Goa to lift an ISL trophy before they do the merger and cause more pandemonium and chaos with how its organized. I've never truly understood the direction of the ISL and how they went about structuring teams in it but if they have a plan to bring it all under one umbrella with a promotion system then I suppose its a start. Where we go from there and how good we get competitively across Asia is where I want to see all this get better.
