Málaga Owner Al-Thani Puts La Liga Under More Suspicion

Al Thani: "Catalan scum won't even smell the La Liga title this season"

The owner and president of Málaga CF has opened a can of worms that has made all the front pages of Spain's national news media portals this morning.  The Arabic owner of the Andalusian football club Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani posted a Tweet on his account last night in Arabic;

Translated (you can actually do this automatically on Twitter itself) it reads;

"With the permission of Allah they'll be stoned to death, the Catalan scum won't even smell La Liga after composing lies about Michel"

The lies Al-Thani is apparently referring to where "Catalans" are concerned is about a quote Michel himself made on Spanish radio where he stated "I am more 'Madridista' than Valdano" in a war of words between the two.

Obviously the Sheikh Al-Thani isn't used to freedom of speech and news portals simply publishing news.  So he has attacked a region of Spain and its people in his words and has also now put the whole Championship under even more suspicion than it was under already.

Real Madrid travel to Málaga on the last day of the season and FC Barcelona have now reported the whole thing to the civil courts bypassing even the (RFEF) Spanish Football Federation and the LFP.

¡El Málaga-Real Madrid de la última jornada, bajo sospecha!

Presidente del Málaga: "La escoria de Catalunya no va a sentir el olor de la Liga"

So what's the reason behind his outburst against Barca?, did Catalan press insinuated they were gonna gift Madrid the match or something?

so what does this actually mean?

Al-Thani knows of corruption in La Liga? What's he going to do about it other than shout on Twitter?

What's he got against Catalans/Barcelona?

SO MANY QUESTIONS!

Like everytime La Liga goes the final weekend (it's yet to be seen if this season does although it looks that way), the Spanish press in general (but especially the Barcelona based press) always refer to the two leagues Real Madrid lost on the final day of the season both times against Tenerife.

What occurred this time is that two players in the team at that time (Michel and Valdano) they entered a war of words and both Mundo Deportivo and SPORT echoed everything and heated it up with the fact Michel is the coach of Málaga and they play Real Madrid on the final day of the season.

Al-Thani didn't like this and blamed the Catalan press.  But from protesting journalism methods to saying what he's said is majorly over the top and WILL create massive issues.  There could be a boom on this one because that game is now big time in the spotlight.

What he's saying is that Barcelona (Catalan Scum...  Remember a Catalan isn't a Barcelona fan) won't win La Liga and Málaga are playing Real Madrid on the final day of the season at La Rosaleda.

Interpretation isn't it...

What does it mean.

In Spain these things are serious comments, very serious where civil law takes over.  Maybe in his Arabic country you can say things to other cultures within your country, but not in Spain.

I don't see how this could mean anything other than they will throw the game.

This is why I said Sevilla is Barcelona's best chance of winning the league, otherwise I would have said maybe Malaga could beat them. But not after this.

After everything that's happened this season, this particular piece of news is just a slap in the face and nothing more.  Barça only have themselves to blame if they lose the league because for all the help Real Madrid have had this season, they've managed to mess it up on many occasions and Barça are even now still in it.  Stupid defeats have put the club in this situation.

We've taken maximum points from the Bernabeu, Calderon, Mestalla, San Mames and Vicente Calderon, but have lost to the likes of Alaves ( at home too ) and Deportivo...and if we do lose the league this season stupid defeats like that will be the reason why. A win against either Alaves or Deportivo and we would be in the driving seat right now. A win against both and we would have a 3 point cushion even with Madrid's game in hand counted.

It's undeniable that despite the massive helping hand Real Madrid have gotten this season, if we don't win the league it is on us. Despite all that help they have gotten, we could still be in the driving seat if we had won games that...we really should have.
