nudge Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 FP3 delayed for a bit due to an oil spillage from F2 race earlier. Now it's dusty af. Anyway the teams come into quali with very little practice time, rain yesterday and shortened session today, and it seems rain is coming again and we might have a wet qualifying!
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Relatively slow from Giovinazzi and Stroll?
nudge Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Looks very encouraging for Williams; Russell ahead of Stroll and 0.1s within P15. The top three in FP3 covered by less than a tenth as well; could be a very interesting qualifying.
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Is it still raining for the next hour for qualifying?

Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Leclerc spinning in Q1. Damage to rear wing.

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 3, 2019 Subscriber Posted August 3, 2019 Should be okay but changing the rear wing takes longer than the front wing, at least a few minutes. Have to hope theres no hidden suspension damage or anything.
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Looked like an Williams (?) was close to hitting Leclerc as he came out from the spin too...
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Ricciardo slower than Russell. Finishes 18th in Q1. Russell 16th! Ahead of Perez and Stroll also.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 3, 2019 Subscriber Posted August 3, 2019 Wow, Perez and Ricciardo start 17th and 18th, behind George Russell in the Williams who was less than a tenth away from getting into Q2, great effort! Stroll and Kubica with another ugly qualifying effort start at the back.
nudge Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Russell aaaaalmost made it... A pity but he's showing his class. 1.3s faster than Kubica too.
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Hulkenberg out of Q2.
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 This Verstappen/Hamilton fight for pole and tomorrow's race could be tasty.
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 It's been 5 months but half of Williams have finally turned up
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Track record getting smashed to pieces by the minute here. Before today it was 1m16s. Verstappen aiming for his first pole, gets 1m14.958s
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 Verstappen on pole! His first ever!
Administrator Stan Posted August 3, 2019 Author Administrator Posted August 3, 2019 1. Verstappen. 2. Bottas 3. Hamilton 4. Leclerc 5. Vettel 6. Gasly 7. Norris 8. Sainz 9. Grosjena 10. Raikkonen Feel like Verstappen finally deserves that pole. He appears to have shrugged off his immature side this season and is growing in to an experienced and reliable driver. Go on Max!
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 3, 2019 Subscriber Posted August 3, 2019 Finally a pole for Max. Great lap also by Bottas who almost beat him.

nudge Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Yesssss!!! Get in, Max! Finally his first pole and a huge one for Red Bull and Honda too. Hopefully he won't experience any problems at the start this time. Haven't seen Helmut Marko as emotional as today
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 3, 2019 Subscriber Posted August 3, 2019 Honda with their first pole since 2004 or 2006? Think Jenson got one in the 2006 works Honda but would have to look it up.

nudge Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Giovinazzi has been given 3 place grid penalty for impeding Stroll in Q1 today.
