I think they have. Though I'm not 100% sure. There is this video where a plane was rejected in Guayaquil coming from Spain, which may or may not suggest the airport was fully closed. And while air traffic is a huge factor in the virus spreading, it's not everything. I think Europe and USA have it worse because of leadership, complacency and air traffic, however a virus spreads when it's there if patient zero isn't isolated well. Even that might not be enough with something as contagious as this. The virus started in China and the spread there had nothing to do with air traffic. Similar could happen in other countries if they don't take the right measures. Why do you think I praise places like El Salvador?

Also, one of the military captains in Peru lost his job for slapping a citizen. I have mixed feelings on this to be honest. In the past a Police or Military Soldier could get away with this sort of stuff, so it's good to see justice be enforced, but at the same time I appreciate his efforts in trying to make the curfew strict. Lots of people are supporting him in all this. What I don't agree though is his comments on the citizen, calling him an ugly andean.

I haven't followed them as much as the other South Americans, but as far as I knew they took some decent measures. It's why I don't understand the argument that a country needs air traffic for the thing to explode in cases. Air traffic is how the virus can arrive to the country, but it spreads by few people.

Ecuador spiraled to 2nd highest in South America. Nearing 1000 cases. What happened there?

Incredible what quarantine does to fight pollution. Lima is usually gray and with lots of smog. These last few days it's been blue and you can see the mountains in the back from the coast, something not common here. Apparently it has helped combat pollution and it's not just a rare sunny day because it's still summer. The birds have also returned to the beach and are flying in flocks.

Hahahahahaha To be fair to Trump, he's not wrong in his reasoning for it not being racist. The Spanish or Asian Flu would also be racist if that's the case. I don't agree with Trump using the term as propaganda though. Seems unnecessary.

Oh dear

Thanks, yeah I had assumed something similar.

I don't know how reliable NHS England are. They are a Hospital or a Press? Someone can confirm me. Apologies for any ignorance here. My problem though is that everyone wants sources to tell them what they want to hear. There seems to be no inbetween. Either there are those who panic or those who are too laid back. Both are just as bad as each other. In terms of the latter, if someone young dies they 100% had underlying health conditions. If the facts report otherwise then they are "scaremongering". There's no winning with some. Anyways, I'm going to believe NHS England just assuming they are important over there. I still think people are just disregarding the elderly or the ones that are more ill. Makes me sick.
-
They are, but those people in reply just assume he had one because the virus "can't kill the young" apparently. This pandemic will end with a vaccine, us humans are too fucking stupid and arrogant to stop the spread ourselves.
-
I just typed this up on Twitter and saw the news. The only thing in reply is people saying "he had underlying health conditions surely" without any source saying he did. People are fucking pathetic, when will humans realize it's deadly enough to kill anyone. They just want to hear what they want to hear.

Wow, just when I thought Italy was breaking records per day, USA just exploded in new cases. 13,000 in a day!

11,000 Peruvians arrested for walking on the streets

Looks like I could be headed home in a few days. Apparently Trudeau got the job done. About time. We'll find out soon enough if true.

Love it. I doubt he'll play much (if ever) but developing at a European club is far better than developing at a Peruvian team. Who knows, maybe he could surprise like Zinchenko. He's got unlimited confidence as shown in his games for Alianza.

Nice! I thought the deal was off, but Kluiverth Aguilar is being purchased by City Group. Now it's a matter of what City club he will go to. My guess is New York City FC.

They're called extroverts and make up 50% of the worlds population.

What part of India are you from? If it's somewhere like Varanasi or New Delhi I'd imagine it must feel weird with the streets not being so crowded! We get that every day at 8 PM too. We also have our unofficial anthem "Contigo Peru" playing in the meantime. I just wish people would sing along, would be the perfect touch

First case in Yellowknife yesterday. Truly a pandemic if it's reached the Pacific islands first and now the Arctic.

I think it's just me really. I try not to be an introvert a lot but when I do I'm reminded why I'm like this. It's really about finding something to do at home. I have plenty of activities to keep me entertained while I'm trapped in Peru so I'm not too upset at the moment.

I'm honestly a bit surprised at the amount of people who are depressed for being forced to stay at home. I get depressed a lot admittedly but it's not because I always stay at home. I get that sadness is natural for being alone for so long. I get it too, but it does surprise me how much people are in need to go out with their friends. Maybe it's because I stay at home a lot normally and my friends are mostly in another country so I've gotten used to it. Interesting (and also worrying) to see. Excuse me if any of that sounded beyond ignorant

I got an email from the Canadian rescue mission or whatever it's called. Was expecting a call in to the airport but it was just them saying "we understand your situation". Hopefully they get this sorted soon. Like I probably said, I'd imagine it would be a call up of 8 hours prior.

Fair point - I rushed it a bit I suppose!
