I have OCD but thankfully not having any issue myself. I'm calm despite everything. The only thing is that it hasn't sunk in what is happening around the world. It's a nightmare!

Just a reminder

Interesting regarding this whole conversation on people having liberties - Martin Vizcarra gave his opinion on the matter. "People think because of their economics, they have freedom to break the law".
-
I was going to say the same. I strongly disagree with the argument that "people should be allowed to have freedom all the time". 99% of the time it's a true statement, but when there is a crisis like a war or a pandemic, it has to be taken away for the safety of the country.
-
Perhaps I was a bit unclear in this little bit, that's what I meant though.

The good news for us young uns is that the percentage of those dead are elderly or those in bad health systems. The other thing is though I highly doubt that every single one of the 13,000 dead are in those conditions. Of course, we also don't want our parents or grandparents to suffer. The virus is deadly enough. I know plenty of people who still call it "just a flu".

The slow rise in Peru wouldn't last. 318 now which is about 70 more than yesterday. I think we went in lockdown at the right point though, so in a realistic sense I reckon we'll go up to 1000 in the next 2 weeks and then it will begin to drop. Also - first death outside of Lima. 83 year old in Piura (northern Peru)

Here in Peru, there are no shits taken right now. If a plane truly is to take Canadians back, I might have a reason as I'd need to get to the airport. I hope there is a pass or some shit though as the police will probably stop us more than a dozen times on the way there.
-
Brazil, Argentina and Mexico have rescued their citizens or are in the process of doing so. Canada on the other hand is starting to take action. Hearing that planes are on the way to rescue the others. Not sure how true that is though, and everything has been pretty unclear...

Nah, wasn't trying to do that. I was having a go at those people in our own countries that do nothing but suck up to the first world countries. Drives me up a wall.
-
It's not Algeria's fault that China, the USA and the European Union nations messed up and the virus has reached their nation though. They can only do so much in that case. Yes to your last point though. The state governments have been doing much more than Trump overall, same with the Canadian provinces really.

If it's regarding the actual equipment and environments available, Canada any day. If it's "who will have less cases", Peru.

Yes and no. Like I said above, some countries have either handled this superbly (El Salvador) or have done their best (Peru). There's many other countries I'm not following that have done well. So I wouldn't say "across the world". What I do agree is that the "big" nations have handled this terribly and it's made some people who voted for said leader wake up. I'm not even talking about first world countries. Any country that is deemed big by economy or name. Brazil is a perfect example. The other day there were protests in the balconies of Sao Paulo asking Bolsonaro to go while the rest of the continent are applauding their officials at 8 PM. It's quite telling really considering they voted for him to begin with. As for Trump, I've said my piece. I respect his attempts to fix his own mistakes, but you can't say he's handled the situation well given how the thing has gotten bigger in the USA.

Heads up - the Arctic Winter Games has been cancelled thanks to the Pandemic. Now I'm worried about the Olympics. Seems inevitable that it will be cancelled or moved.

Fuck me, not even on FM can I get away from Coronavirus news

263 cases in Peru now, only an increase of about 30 which is less than the other day. What's scary is that 20 cases are in my district Miraflores. Good thing we are in quarantine as Miraflores is often a hustle and bustle area.

We're not copying anyone. We have had plenty of outbreaks in the country. My dad remembers a Cholera outbreak in the 1990's. There was also Swine Flu which we got hit pretty hard by and Zika not too long ago. We're much more used to these sort of things, although not exactly prepared from a medical standpoint. I am attacking the rich population of the country who do nothing but trash on Peru and would rather continue sucking off the USA or Canada when they've been pretty awful at handling this situation and have a lot of drawbacks in general. Obviously they are much better countries but for some people it isn't. What I'm saying is, yes I see what you're saying. Hard to compare, but I can guarantee you we are not taking measures just because things got bad in Italy or USA. I had an argument with my cousin the other day explaining how Canada is making a mess of this whole thing and she'd rather keep praising Canada for "being a better country". That mentality makes me sick. Just love the country you were born in ffs.

Apparently they have cases too mate, or so I hear. They just don't want to reveal any information. If true, I'd imagine they came from the DMZ on the South Korean side.
-
Yeah I'm calling bollocks to that. You're right that the likes of USA get much more air traffic and have more businesses, but you cannot say the USA made the right decisions. Them having 12,000 cases has little to do with a big population or air traffic. It's because the virus wasn't taken initially seriously. Otherwise it would have been much lower and you know that. The likes of El Salvador or Peru have reacted much quicker than these first world countries and that's a big reason why we aren't being hit as hard. It has nothing to do with air traffic as a lot of Peruvians travel to Italy and we have quite a few Italians living here too. About 60k. Italy having the most cases in the world outside China right now is because they underestimated the virus. And Peru has the 4th most tourists in South America. Not exactly a bad feat. Obviously nothing like the top countries but it's high enough to have an impact. Anyways, I hope your father-in law's wife recovers. Prayers to her.

In most third world countries (as far as I'm aware), the rich population will constantly suck off the richer countries. Me actually living in Canada, I'm trying to tell my family how much better Peru has been in this whole thing over Canada and they just don't want to hear it. Their agendas towards their own country is pathetic. Next time they say that to me I'll just tell them to move away if they hate this country so much.
-
Yeah all of South America with the exception of Chile and Brazil have done a good job. The reason Peru is at third highest cases in Latinamerica is because of how densely populated our capital is, but all things considered we've done alright. If we reacted a bit sooner though, we could have had much less cases. People are currently getting arrested for walking on the street of your own house. It's very strict right now. I just hope they suspend rent and bills.
-
But they went on lockdown with 0 cases and want to build a new hospital in case of emergency + suspended all the bills. Peru has done much better than many first world countries but compared to El Salvador's measures and reaction we're nothing.
-
El Salvador has been by far the best country in the world at handling this outbreak. I'm willing to bet their rich population are complaining about how the likes of Canada and the USA are doing much better too, just like in Peru which really drives me up the wall.

Have a feeling this pandemic won't end til we have a vaccine or some form to develop immunity. The spread is simply beyond control now.

We are living through a genuine nightmare. People trapped in other countries, friends asking others for money because they can't work or get food, people going to jail for trying to help their families and breaking curfew, and of course all the deaths due to the virus itself. I'm calm despite everything, but this is going to take a huge toll on many things for the future.
