  1. Yeah this is the one worry. We'll have to pay attention to China in the next few weeks. If things calm down enough and there's no second wave then that's definitely a good sign for the near future.
  2. Wuhan lifts lockdown. This could either be really good or really bad news. If lifting the lockdown proves successful and safe, then we can potentially expect life to return to normal if it does prove to create herd immunity after time.
  3. What I find interesting is that there seems to be a hotspot for the virus in each country and it doesn't seem to be completely widespread at least in the reports. China: Wuhan and Hubei province Italy: Bergamo Spain: Madrid USA: New York Ecuador: Guayaquil Chile: Santiago and Temuco Well aware this isn't the case in every country but there seems to be a problem area where as in other provinces/states seems to be controlled in a less-worse manner. Either because of population density (New York and Wuhan) or certain incidents (Atalanta vs Valencia being game zero in Italy and Temuco because of that one bloke who flew on the plane knowing he had the virus)
  4. The latter is more true. Another thing perhaps is less testing kits in the country, so its possible more people have it then we know of. However, I think we've done OK all things considered. At least the doctors, police and government. Civilians is a whole different story.
  5. I'm impressed at how many have recovered in Peru. Almost 1000 in a total of 2500 cases. Has our health care system improved or has the healthiest and youngest people been getting it? Also think our cases spiraled early before slowing down. That could have something to do with it.
  6. So Vizcarra has made gender quarantine. Men are only allowed to leave the house on some days and Women on the remainder. Sunday nobody is allowed to go out. Saw a photo with the streets flooded in one of the poorer districts. No wonder the cases are going up.

Bakkazi was the Slovenian who would be around in the FM threads but then made his way to the football chat

Anyone remember Bring Me My Bow and Bakkazi? I was have them both on Steam and was thinking of inviting them here. The former may be here under a different name. The latter I'm pretty sure hasn't made the transition. Both would be welcome additions.
  9. I was joking. Both are terrible in their own sense! The worst part of it all was that apparently the news source was satire, so what I said doesn't even apply.
  10. On the other hand, I criticized Chile and their people were awful at handling this situation, but you can see why they've been called South America's most developed country in the last few years (Argentina can dispute that). Only 22 deaths so far with more than 3000 cases. Still many active cases but a promising recovery rate. The Germany of South America in this crisis. I guess having Merkel's twin as their previous president helped
  11. Ecuador really dropped the ball. Not only what Ignis posted yesterday but now has some of the most cases in South America, want to introduce a 24 hour curfew and now their citizens are trying to illegally cross the border into Peru. Vizcarra absolutely cannot take the country off lockdown, or else we will become like them.
  12. Whenever I look at Trump's reign, I think "oh dear that's so ignorant" then I remember George Bush and I feel better.
  13. Going back to this, and maybe I'm just optimistic, but if it's unlikely to contract it again, surely that would mean life could go back to normal then. The priority has to be a vaccine though, but since this isn't the flu it will take longer I reckon.
  14. 61 deaths in Peru. Sadly an accurate description of our health care system.
  15. Yeah I agree with @Berserker. Public health in the Americas is awful with the exception of Argentina and Canada. I'm not 100% sure on Cuba though, they might be in that boat too. In Ecuador's case, it's similar to Peru's health which is why we're struggling so much. Being in quarantine means we'll save lives but basically screw the economy. If we let people do what we want, our health systems will collapse.
  16. Do you reckon travel restrictions domestically will be lifted at some point before a vaccine is developed? I plan on staying at home but my new dog is waiting in Northern Ontario and we're just waiting for restrictions to be lifted so it can be brought to us and join the family. If I were to assume anything, they might be lifted when things calm down again before a possible 2nd wave.
  17. Fyre. I was thinking of retraining him to call him Douglas, but nah the name Fyre is fine as is
  18. They sent me the picture of the Elkhound. I'll take a more proper picture when the dog is with me, but here he is.
  19. Looks like I'm getting a Norwegian Elkhound! I'm gonna adopt one that's 6 years old though as litters are a bit tough to come by.
  20. The virus has reached Salluit in Nunavik. How has it gotten there? I get Nunavut because it has a bigger population and is connected to Ottawa but yet they don't have any cases while Nunavik just got their first case. Random.
  21. April Fools is in 2 days. Got there a bit early I'm afraid...
  22. Jesus, Ecuador is in a bit of trouble aren't they? Peru extended their lockdown for 2 weeks and for a good reason. Think we're doing alright all things considered but the death rate so far is an accurate reflection on our health care system. Praying it doesn't get worse.
