  1. I might go back to Canada today. If a plane arrives they'll let us know last minute. The whole thing will be a bureaucratic nightmare, but there's not much else as an option.
  2. He's in Peru with my grandmothers friend. I have no idea how to get him to Canada. If it was legal I would have brought him with me
  3. Might get a pet after this whole pandemic ends. Thinking maybe a Hedgehog.
  4. Nice one. Meanwhile Air Canada is laying off their staff, right before a potential rescue of their citizens. Not looking good
  5. Hearing that Argentina is bringing back its citizens in Peru on a bus. @Berserker
  6. One of my closest friends asked me for 100 soles because she has no way to get food due to a lack of gas in her car. This whole situation is horrible. I think the intention of lockdown is good but the whole process wasn't thought of so well.
  7. Very nice gesture from Universitario - gonna allow their stadium and training grounds to treat the Coronavirus patients. Not sure how it will work, but the intention is good.
  8. Just now I got an email about getting all Canadian citizens out including me and my dad. About time.
  9. I have a Canadian passport, and my dad needs to be closer to work. So technically we do qualify.
  10. First death confirmed in Peru today. A 77 year old.
  11. We can't get back to Canada as things stand.
  12. Yeah he is no doubt ignorant and wrong a lot of the time but I prefer his leadership to the likes of Trudeau or Bolsonaro as a regular civilian. The USA's cases looks higher than it is cos of population and air traffic. Not saying that the number is OK mind you.
  13. My dad right now is reaching out to as many news reporters and government officials as he possibly can. Obviously we have to put our part, but I find it embarrassing that they aren't trying to find us.
  14. I completely agree that he could have avoided this in the first place, but he's at least being honest in the present and that's what I find respectable. At least when you compare it to leaders like Bolsonaro or Trudeau. The former making similar comments but doing nothing to change things with rising cases in Brazil and Trudeau doing nothing to help his citizens abroad. All he's doing is asking Canadians to come home with no support to those in countries that have no flights in or out. Trump is showing balls and while he's fully at fault for Coronavirus spreading rapidly in the USA to begin with, at least he realizes he was wrong. I'd go as far as saying the only reason USA has more cases than Canada is because of population and how connected it is to the rest of the world compared to up north. Anyways, I'm only comparing to the others. Not saying that he's been great in all this because he obviously hasn't.
  15. I can't believe it was possible, but after thinking about it I have much more respect for Trump now than I did before. He speaks rubbish more often than not, but when a problem arises he actually does something about it. Answers questions honestly to all journalists and is actually having an impact for his country. Say what you want about him being ignorant and speaking a lot of smack, but when I look at Trudeau's situation who is more calm, Trump looks like fucking Abraham Lincoln. I'm also aware Coronavirus entering the USA was entirely his fault, but at least he is trying to fix his mistakes, something I can't say about others.
  16. There are a couple of students from Ontario stranded in Peru. Doug Ford is doing his best to bring them back. That could be my ticket home if there's extra space on that plane. Not holding my breath though.
  17. They have few deaths though, similar to South Korea. Clearly they are a mixed bag in this whole situation.
  18. This isn't entirely the reason why, but one of my favourite Youtube channels made a video of the sort of thing China is capable of doing.
  19. Never mind. Now being reported 89 new cases.
  20. 10 new cases in Peru today. Some good news given we've been increasing by 30 per day for the last week.
  21. Nice touch from the Brazilians. Weird to see the German flag with the coat of arms though. I thought they had the East Germany flag on there
  22. I just talked to my brother and he's just as ignorant as the rest. He got mad at me for saying the virus is more deadly than a flu. If that was the case, I wouldn't be in Peru anymore with no way out of even my house and the economy wouldn't be taking a crash... we've had plenty a few pandemics in our lives but nothing ever quite this serious. This is as bad as SARS, only difference is that was contained much better. The ignorance in people baffles me.
