  1. People who think British food is shit have never had proper British meals, go to a tasty countryside pub/restaurant and you're in heaven. On the subject of Italian food, yes, yes and yes. I went to Rome on a lads weekend (weirdly ) and it's an amazing city, history all over the gaff and the food is something else. Going to Rome from the UK must be the equivalent of a yank going to London. Currently stuck in Sydney working though I do plan to go to Melbourne and Perth, but once that's up the next plan is to go to South East Asia. Edit: I said stuck in Sydney but I live in Bondi Beach so stuck is probably not the word ha

The middleweight division needs this fight as it was becoming a bit stagnant, won't be long after until one of them unifies against Saunders. Glad there's a fight of this magnitude also because it makes Eubank Jr's IBO title even more pointless.

That fight was one for Mexicans really, the best thing to come out of it is the triple G announcement

Watched the Haye v Bellew fight the other day....seemed pretty even up to the 6th with probably Haye edging it. Bellew didn't throw a lot but he didn't take any damage either, rematch would be interesting to see what happens if they'd taken the right that mate on with Haye fully fit.
  5. So it looks to be London Irish vs Yorkshire Carnegie in the Championship Play-Off Final. Yorkshire beat Ealing on aggregate after both sides won away and Irish have a fairly healthy lead over Doncaster but the second leg is yet to be played. Neither Ealing or Doncaster applied for promotion so only Yorkshire or Irish could go up anyway. Fantastic stuff from Ealing, a few years ago in League 1 and now after the second season in 3 years in the Championship (relegated in the first) have reached a playoff semifinal. There's definitely plans for growth at Ealing which is good for west London as currently the only alternative are Harlequins Irish maybe coming back to London via Brentford but have spent years out on Reading
  6. Paddy McGuinness looks more like Lukaku than him

Potentially but he was fighting someone who didn't want it up close and personal...Joshua on the other hand loves it.

Fury's so lanky and has such an awkward fighting style, I don't think he'd harm AJ from a distance and AJ has a class uppercut which I could see him ending a fight with Fury with. Don't really rate Wilder that much, massive right hand but that's about it. Still it's a big hit and would make for an interesting fight as he won't be holding back.

If Bellew fights Wilder next that will be a disappointment, unless Joshua fights Parker. Bellew needs to have his re-match vs Haye too, Bellew didn't really offer much before Haye rolled his ankle and Haye was starting to land some good shots too. Although I'm sure he wouldn't have much to lose if he did fight Wilder, Haye will still want to prove he's the better fighter.

Picture from Saturday, few beers and getting burnt by the sun, what more could you want?
  14. I went to watch Sydney FC vs Melbourne City with Simon, the standard out here is quite low and tbh I feel sorry for Australian fans. There's a strong European/South American Ultras style attitude and they do try to create some noise even if it goes against what I'd deem normal, but the football is utter gash. Sydney have smashed the League this season and their goals were scramblers and toe pokes. I feel like if the money available was used to sign a higher caliber of team rather than single out retired stars the league would be much better. But then the problem is would it sell as much without the big names when AFL dominates Victoria/WA and NRL dominates NSW/QLD. I would honestly say the quality is somewhere between Championship and League 1. Just comparing our season in the play offs, there was no quality at Sydney FC like what we had with the likes of Judge, Pritchard, Odubajo etc and we got knocked out of the play-off semi finals. The fans do try and make a day of it even if they do copy ultras from abroad (Sydney had a "capo" of sorts who stood in a box with a megaphone, whilst someone stood below him with a strap on drum), and the fans sang along to things like "forza Sydney". I am going to try and do a Sydney FC vs WSW game though, does look a tidy game rivalry considering there is naturally a rivalry between North Shore/Eastern Suburbs/South Sydney vs western Sydney.

    Rugby League

Manly narrowly beaten by Melbourne 26-30, first time I've watched a game on a hill Storm smashed the first half but didn't score a Try in ththe second, looked like Manly could pull off a great comeback but ran out of energy by the 70th minute and that was that. Good defending in ththe second half, shocking in the first
  16. That's the expectation for next season, we've got a good young side that's a lot more balanced now we sold Hogan and brought back Jota, Canos and resigned Judge. Considering we have one of the lowest budgets in the league it'd be class if we were to go up simply for our ability to punch above our weight.
  17. It's as if someone at the Guardian reads this forum, a good article about our B Team: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/apr/05/brentford-ditched-their-academy-premier-league-outcasts
  18. Not surprised, Liverpool have a lot of average to good, good to can be really good at times sort of players. If that makes sense Emre Can is young, Adam Lallana will never be a great player to take you over the line, Coutinho is inconsistent even if brilliant at times, there seemed to be a crumble when Mane left in Jan and you're left relying on the Jordan Henderson's and Divock Origi's of this world. There's a good squad of players as it is, but you just lack the class that the likes of Suarez or Gerrard afforded you. Maybe a big bid for 1-3 key players in the Summer? I imagine that'd only be possible with Champions League football otherwise you're relying on more inconsistent players to come in. I know you're top four now which is you lot being on target at the moment, and whilst I can't see United catching you up, you've still got Arsenal and City to contend with.
  19. I don't think United's rotten to the core, all they really lack are goalscorers outside of Ibra. Mata has done well but they need another 20+ forward. I try not to bet because I'm shit so for now I'm just making predictions and seeing how they turn out, but nearly all of United's front line have scored 1-2 goals since January each and Jermaine Defoe hasn't scored in 6 games. SkyBet have the game down as a draw at 18/5, not bad odds. Either be a 0-0 mind, or United run riot as Lingard, Martial, Rashford and Ibra all score
  20. It's interesting to see really because for the months prior to him publicly berating his forwards, they were being carried by Mata and Ibrahimovic. Ibra has only scored three goals in open play in the Premier League since the beginning of January, four goals altogether. In the Cups United have been a lot better but if you look at who they've played; St Ettiene, FC Rostov and Blackburn Rovers, they've not had difficult tests. The biggest test was Southampton which is probably the highest quality opponent in a Cup game they've played all season. They did beat Man City at the beginning of the season, but in terms of quality on the pitch, it was largely an inexperienced side. The last two games in the league they've scored two goals, against Everton and Bournemouth. Everton don't have a watertight defence, though a fairly decent record of 36 conceded, but Bournemouth's defence is fucking gash. I wouldn't be surprised if United draw 0-0 with Sunderland next, but if they win I imagine it'll be a paper over the cracks job. I think the only thing that can boost United coming back is Juan Mata but how fit/sharp he'll be remains to be seen. United need to throw everything at the Europa League this season because I can't see them catching the top 4, especially when they still have to play Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Spurs. I think out of the 7-8 games they've played the top 6 teams, they've won 2, maybe lost 1 or 2, but drawn the rest.
  21. Tbh no one talks about Brentford on here so I've gotta do something to try and get a bite here and there With that said if you knew the amount of times what happened with him is held against us still to this day you'd know why he has been mentioned so much.
  22. Yeah and no. A few from the academy originally, a few from obscure picks in Europe and a few from Arsenal, Stoke, Benfica etc
