  1. The attendance isn't bad for the Championship , there's only about 5 teams who have better numbers in the Championship and those teams are in cities that only have one team, Leeds, Southampton Sunderland. Wednesday's attendence has never been much more than 30,000, you have to go back 70 years when it last averaged over 40,000. There's no doubt Wednesday has seen better days , they haven't really been all that good since the early 90's , kind of like Leeds. Bad ownership, money pissed away on poor transfers, a stadium that needs repair, Leppings Lane end is a disgrace, doesn't seem like it has been changed much since the tragedy. Wednesday pale in comparison to United, that look to be a well run club with a modern stadium and an enthusiastic fan base. United being more successful the last decade has helped attract new fans, though who you family support still plays big in a divided city, a Wednesday United wise. Years ago when they were both in division one, there was talk of combining the two clubs and building a new stadium down Attercliffe . The built the stadium but nobody wanted to play in it and irpt was demolished in 2013. Wedneday has the same problems of many old big teams, the lower divisions are full of teams I used to watch as a kid in the old First Division.
  2. Actually Wednesday were pretty impressive for 3 quarters of the season, I think they went 23 games, maybe more without a loss at one point last season. Parting company with Moore was a big mistake, but he realised the gulf between Division One and the Championship is huge and wanted to strengthen the squad, but Chansiri didn't want to spend the money, For me the ownership is the main concern there. Chansiri has pissed off the fan base, but they are still turning out, averaging over 26,000 at home. Chansiri said recently in an interview earlier this week he might need assistance from fans to raise £2m to cover the HMRC bill and this month's wages because of a "cashflow" problem. I think they have paid this month's bills, but who knows about next month. If they default on the HMRC and the wages they are up the creek without a paddle, three transfer windown ban, i think, they could end up Division Two. I believe the bulk of Chansri money was made in duty free shops and he took a real hit during covid and hopefully his cashflow problem is improving now that more people,e are flying again . However, it is a real worry that he has said he won't put any more money in the team. The thing is there are 4 or 5 teams in the Championship that aren't that good and Wednesday has Brustol City and Milwall next two games so wishfully hoping for two wins and they are back in it. But it's been a disaster of a season, losing Darren Moore, the ownership situation and the disgraceful behaviour of a couple fans involving Bradley Lowery, it's going to take a remarkable turnaround to stay up.
  3. Israel has withdrawn form the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since Rabin was killed. Hasn't stopped groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
  4. Israel has tried to trade land for peace for far too long, it's time to try something else.
  5. The Balfour Declaration in 1917 where the UK recognized the need for a Jewish homeland is only one of the political agreements that have caused this mess. Two years earlier there was the McMhon-Hussein Correspondence, where the UK recognized Arab independece in the area due to the " Arab Revolt" against the Ottoman Empire during WW1. Then there was the Sykes-Picot Agreement in 1916 that divided the area between France and Britain. That was followed by the League of Nations "Palastinian Mandate" in 1922-24 where control of the area was given to Britain in order to create a Jewish homeland. The British then took 77% of the area and created Trans Jordan. The Americans don't come off without their share of blame either President FDR vaivered back and forth in meetings with both Arabs and Jews sometimes showing support for a Jewish homeland, while other times telling the Arabs it won't happen without their consent. Yeah the British and the Americans and the French who have their hands all over the area as well, deserve their share of the blame for the situation , but that doesn't mean they or any other country in the West will take in any refugees from the Gaza. Look at the protests in the streets and universities of our cities and universities, why would we let in more people who don't like us or respect our values. It's time for the Arab world to take care of their own.
  6. Ever read Enoch Powell's "Rivers of Blood " speech? People have been saying that for over 50 years.
  7. The Americans won't take them. There are bills going throuhg the US Congress to not take any refugees from Gaza. I am sure the piece of shit that mascarades as our PM would take the lot. Jordan and Egypt should take them.
  8. Hamas continues to use the people of Gaza as "Human Shields " . It places its military infrastructure among the local population, it's command posts, military supplies and the fuel and food it steals from the aid packages are under hospitals, schools and mosque and refugee camps. They fire their rockets from the rooftops of people 's apartments and houses. When Israel bombs these locations, civilians die, their deaths are clearly on the heads of Hamas. If Hamas cared one iota for the civilian population of Gaza, they would come out of their tunnels and fight on open ground.
  9. The calls for a ceasefire have nothing to do with stopping civilians from being killed. It's to stop the Israeli offensive. It is designed to protect Hamas, to stop Israel from eliminating them and allow them to kill again another day. A ceasefire now will benefit Hamas , it will allow them to escape being fully punished for what they did on October 7th and it will allow them to claim victory. If they are not finished now, the next time they attack Israel it will be worse.
  10. Canada and a number of of European countries including Germany and Italy voted against because tbey stand with Israel. The UK is trying to have it both ways. The resolution is just window dressing, the UN are trying to hide their antisemitism among caring for civilians just like Hamas hides their weapons among hospitals, schools and mosques as well as hopefully puting pressure on Israel to agree to a ceasefire . These so called civilians are the same people who cheer every time a rocket is fired into Israel, the same people who chant from the river to the sea which means the end of Israel, the same people who cheer every Israeli death and the same people who willingly raise their children to be martyrs . No there's no sympathy here. The resolution is also one sided, a Canadian ammendment to also condemn the actions of Hamas failed to pass, showing for most countries at the UN this was just another opportunity to critize Israel, none of them care about the civilians in Gaza, this is their antisemitism showing plain and simple.
  11. Ashamed they abstained, should have voted against.
  12. Crystal Palace 0-2 Tottenham Chelsea 2-1 Brentford Arsenal 3-0 Sheff Utd Bournemouth 1-1 Burnley Wolves 0-2 Newcastle West Ham 2-1 Everton Aston Villa 3-1 Luton Brighton 2-0 Fulham Liverpool 3-0 Nottm Forest Man Utd 1-2 Man City
  13. I thought he struck it well, you have to give credit to the keeper, that was a very good save.
  14. I saw that the Hamass political operative has been living in England for a decade. Surprised Mossad has taken him out, maybe and hopefully that it is know where he lives they will.
  15. I think the hostages who have been released have concern for the hostages who are still being held. You are not going to hear the truth of how the released ones have been treated until all hostages are released.
  16. The underground facilities that Hamas maintains in Gaza, are often placed under hospitals, schools, and mosques.. Under International law, “dual use” of civilian facilities makes them legitimate targets.
  17. Harsh if it went off Mudryk' s head. They took an awful long time to decide to send the ref over to have a look. What would happen if Arsenal had scored in the mean time?
  18. 203 have been confirmed by Israel. Happy to see those two released but you wonder about the rest and why these two and not somebody else were released.
  19. Saturday 21st October, 2023 Liverpool 3-1 Everton, 12.30 Bournemouth 1-1 Wolves Brentford 2-0 Burnley Man City 4-2 Brighton Newcastle 2-0 Crystal Palace Nottm Forest 1-0 Luton Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal, 17.30 Sheff Utd 0-2 Man Utd, 20.00 Sunday 22nd October, 2023 Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham, 16.30 Monday 23rd October, 2023 Tottenham 3-1 Fulham, 20.00
  20. You can stop any game being played at Old Trafford, invade the pitch, have a sit in on the pitch, have people handcuff themselves to the goal posts, stop the opposing teams buses from getting to the stadium. Don't do any damage, don't disrespect the other team or damage their buses, just say you ain't playing today. If United drop 3 points every time they play at home they will be relegated and maybe the Glazers will leave. A pipe dream, and easy to say 3000 Mile's away, but I am getting desperate.
  21. That is the problem. Glazers think they will get £10b in aa few years. They won't sell till they bleed the club dry.
