  1. I will have to watch that one next then. The Northman just came out last week in theatre only I believe. Sam director as The VVitch and The Lighthouse if you have seen those https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Northman
  2. Maybe even older! but that is pretty neat, and i’m sure there are heaps of treasures scattered about the north isles of scotland those chess pieces made from whale teeth iI think were norse made and found in scotland
  3. I think you watched different movie but I’m glad you liked it
  4. Fascinating culture and history, and deeply tied to the cultural beginnings of our ancestors in Britain. Such a brutal and unforgiving people. Funny to think that before Christianisation of Britain, they worshipped the same deities and spirits. when you think about it they were a culture stuck a thousand years in the past, they were the least romanised people in all of Western Europe, even less romanised than the central Germans
  5. It’s not a remake. It is based on an ancient Nordic folktale that Shakespeare based Hamlet on.
  6. The Northman 10/10 Robert Eggers does it again. Seamlessly blends Norse religion and mysticism into a semi-history legend. Brutally portrays the Norse as the brutal people they were, they fetishised strength, violence, and vengeance. go out and watch it, please. These sorts of movies need all the support possible otherwise they won’t be made
  7. It is still on. Zendaya is awful
  8. Spider-man tom holland 1st one - yawn, it didnt keep my attention at all 5/10
  9. Misery - Stephen King writes another 8/10
  10. In my electorate the hilarious mental gymnastics are ‘OI WUT HAVE LABOURRR DONE FOR US ?’ They have never voted Labor in about 100 years @Devil-Dick Willie I actually do have a crisis I want some advice on from you two. On the upcoming election, I’d say the most likely party to oust the Lib seat in my electorate is the One Nation Party. I cannot abide by them because you know the Mrs is yellow and Pauline Hanson quite dislikes them yellows, said so herself. I just don’t know how to preference my voting, Labor will not win, the Greens would never win (they are Labor parasites anyway, half of them are ex-Libs), and I’m not sure about any other party that is running in the electorate. I guess I could preference Bob Katter, which is just cowboy Lebanese North Queensland Labor.
  11. Yeah a decade of a Howard government and a further decade of Libs will erode worker’s benefits and unions. So many people of the generations above ours look back so fondly on Howard, calling him the best PM ever and it is so strange to me because he was constantly criticised during the whole of it. I think people’s opinion is formed on the fact he was there forever, it is worse now, so he mist have been a great PM. And he privatised Telstra and let the mining companies have free reign
  12. The only teachers I know of that make any money are the ones that get subsidised by teaching in remote communities because the government used to at least pay nearly in full all living expenses to encourage people to teach in the middle of nowhere. Shame they are usually 21 years old so they actually suck at teaching and take the gig for a year or two for resume experience. Then they women always cry when the little Indigenous kid calls them a white dog. I hate the Libs with a burning hatred because they essentially ruined the housing market in my time overseas fixing it to the point I will probably never afford to live anywhere I want. At least I could maybe get one if those hazardous eyesore estate towers property devs prop up in western Sydney, that have a 15% of falling over and another 20% of catching on fire and killing me and all the Chinese and Lebanese tenants.
  13. Shocking how little this is spoken about. What will happen in Pakistan? Is a coup or military junta possible?
  14. 4/10 sounds generous from how shot I hear it is
  15. Starring Mifune as well, the Japanese Clint Eastwood really. A bit more boisterous but unbelievably charismatic.
  16. I have not watched that but I have heard it’s good. if you like ‘A fistful of dollars’ you should watch ‘Yojimbo’ the samurai movie it is based on. It’s a Kurosawa film to boot

    Rugby League

Yeah I watched a game of super rugby in Auckland and it seemed to have what NRL should be more famous for, aggressive kicking, risky passing, and huge line breaks. Still, I cannot abide by the private schoolboy concrete cowboy culture of rugby in Oz… as if it worse than drinking till blackout drunk, running a train on a west Sydney slag and then pissing in one’s own mouth that you find in NRL. I wish I liked AFL but it is stupid
  18. Then you have to ask how evil Gene Hackman really is because is he in fact doing well to keep peace in his town, even if he does awful things. I love how at the start Munny denies his nature as a monster, and the Schofield kid lies to everyone that he is a hard cold killer, but after the bounty is claimed Munny is in full acceptance he is a killer and the kid is fully aware how much he isn’t. It is signalled when both of them are drinking whiskey but with different body language, one is standing and silently waiting, the other sitting and sobbing. The are mirrored opposites of eachother.

    Rugby League

When I was in the heartland of footy country I probably watched or half-watched every other game. Fuck it is shit these days, I swear the rules are completely different. Every time I asked my uncle or stepdad they were too drunk and stoned to properly explain how the rules are different. @Devil-Dick Willie can you explain how and why there are so many tackle set resets?
  20. I like the scenes with the Duck of Death, why is an insane royalist going around the US west and killing people? What an intriguing character that ereally only has three scenes
  21. A lot because tertiary education isn’t seen as education in Australia but something to suck wealth out of young foreigners, it isn’t designed to better young Australians. If it was then the Libs would not have dismantled free tertiary education in style for an American system Also fuck off we are full, not in the sense that Australia shouldn’t allow immigration but in the sense that Australia should stop artificially inflating the economy by selling assets to overseas interests. Instead of raising min wage, they rather hand out working visas to internationals that shit their pants at the chance to earn min wage in Australia. The cost of living has risen 200% to wage growth’s 30%. I will never be a home owner in Australia
  22. Maybe, but I think I like more songs from Smash. I’m not the biggest offspring fan. The lead’s terrible vocal timbre is also more ear-grating in Americana
  23. The Dead Zone - I remember the TV show from my youth, sort of. That Stephen King is really an ideas man that bloke but David Cronenbourg is a fantastic director. 8/10
  24. I remember my mate owned that album because his step-dad won it at the pub with a meattray or something. Sucked then, sucks now. That song is okay, I guess.
