I don't know all the ins and outs about when we first built it but I'm sure there are some skeletons in the wardrobe a bit about it, it came at the same time as the crash of the NTL deal and it put us in the shit, as well as a lot of businesses in the area. I'm guessing a bit here though as I don't really know the ins and outs and someone older could tell me better. This was a move I'd been expecting a while and really glad they're doing it. We're definitely ready to expand it because we've never been this well supported and it's worth capitalising while we can rather than letting a load of kids from around here grow up supporting someone else. It's just yet another very good move from the owners, who's ambition is spot on and time and time again they back it up. Great times to support us. I do hope we can somehow incorporate some sort of rail service to the ground. It's got the Ivanhoe Lane from Leicester to Burton running right by it yet it's a freight only line at the minute. There's been talk for years of potentially putting passenger trains on there and I hope it happens - would be an allround good move for the city and we've got a lot of support between here and Burton as well, particularly Coalville, Ashby. Great news. The only bummer is that we started with the training facilities first rather than this as we've just happened to have the one-off perfect opportunity to expand the ground over the past year and a bit, but never mind, just sods law.

Reckon Villa are a dark horse for Europe this season.

I'd 100% take that money. Good player, but he's not worth that and yet again English premium would come up trumps.

Yeah we do. Don't think I'll bother. Been a few times before and the majority of our first half of aways seem to be in London anyway, plus the community shield the week after. Friendlies are a bit shit as well really. Couple of seasons ago a mate of mine went and get me and a few others tickets for four away games in two weeks. Took me about half of the first game to wonder what they were thinking.

I remember going to a couple of Bochum games thinking there's nobody in this team that's going anywhere, so surprised to see how well Janelt has ended up doing. -

Yeah absolutely don't take the Fulham route. Fulham and Norwich's approaches generally saw them do the same thing anyway though Norwich may be a bit different this time around. I'm completely behind your model, I just wonder who specifically comes in, and will you actually make any significant sale this time around. -

Be interested to see if you take the Norwich approach of basically banking the money or if you try and spend a bit more and stay up. I mean I'm all for being prudent with money but Norwich really did take it too far. -
Leicester have every summer since the title win sold precisely one key player. 2016 - Kante 2017 - Drinkwater 2018 - Mahrez 2019 - Maguire 2020 - Chilwell 2021 - ??? There isn't going to be some exodus I don't think. I think it's plausible somebody goes again. One of the ITKs seemed to imply Maddison might be off but I just don't see who, other than possibly Spurs for a new manager (and that's a huge if) is going to put up the money. Tielemans is the one we all fear but I think he will sign a new deal this summer, then probably be next summers big sale. I therefore expect us to bring in another midfielder this summer on top of the inevitable Soumare, as nobody in the squad is really capable of Tielemans' game and virtually all of our play goes through him. I expect Dewsbury-Hall to be involved next season. Hard to say how good he is but Rodgers is supposedly a big fan and whilst it's only Luton, he's stood out there to an almost ridiculous level by all accounts, so we might have another gem on our hands. Ultimately though I think the idea at Leicester, and it's absolutely the correct one, is to look to make precisely one big sale a summer and then bring in 3/4 upgrades on what we do have. I feel we've done that well in the last few summers. We were well prepared for Maguire's departure and although Soyuncu's had a couple of mad moments, he's been generally fine and allowed us to play higher up the pitch than Maguire does. Fofana likewise I think is just a straight up better defender. The Maguire signing allowed us to bring in Tielemans permamently, Praet, Justin and Perez (though the latter has been a big flop for me and probably our biggest post 2016 error). Last summer the Chilwell sale allowed us to bring in Castagne and Fofana whilst giving more minutes to Luke Thomas, who wasn't significantly a weaker option than Chilwell last season (worth pointing out he was in really poor form for a lot of 2019/20 and he's massively stepped up at Chelsea). I think by just continuously repeating this process we gradually get better and better. We aren't perfect, but if we keep making strides forward each season then maybe we can challenge for the title again one day. You never know. I've more faith in us as a club than I had a year ago. There was very much an element of Leicester under Rodgers being a flash in the pan I felt a year ago but the season just gone, whilst it's impossible to ignore yet another late tail off, we've again finished above loads of better resourced sides than us and it can't keep happening by accident. The fact I see a fair bit of room for improvement encourages me too. Just keep doing things the right way, and who knows where it will take us.

That video from the squad was brilliant.

I'm more gutted for Barnes that he'll miss out on playing in the FA Cup final for his hometown club. That's a sickener. Our England contenders have been ridiculously unlucky this season for injuries. I think Justin would've gone given his good performances and versatility, Barnes was building a real case and this happens, Maddison likewise - now not one will go.
-
I'm assuming general fitness levels rather than injuries. He's looked good in patches but it was a pretty low risk signing that just hasn't worked out. I wonder if there's anything in the rumour that we have to buy him if he plays a certain number of games. He's got talent but he's a bit greedy. I think we used our right winger luck on Mahrez.
-
Regarding Rodgers, part of me thinks if he makes the top 4 and wins the FA Cup, he might have the attitude of "what else can I achieve at Leicester that I haven't already" - then again, unless he thinks he can win a title with Spurs, then maybe it's "what can I achieve at Spurs that I haven't already at Leicester" so who knows. I've got a feeling Rodgers when he leaves us will end up in Spain or Italy. He's fluent in both languages.

This season alone should tell you how empty all those comments about player fatigue etc... were. -

I think it's too late in many ways. I've had these same debates with myself and see very little obvious solution other than taking away something that's already there - salary caps and whatnot only work if implemented everywhere, can 50+1 really be implemented in England at this point? I'd support it if it could but I'd have imagined that was quite hard now. -

The only thing I'll say for group stages is it's quite good for the fans in that you can get it planned in advance rather than the quick turnarounds of knockout football - though I do tend to agree otherwise and find knockouts far more entertaining. -

It's no surprise that they've pushed this through still. Whilst I think UEFA are probably the lesser of two evils, people shouldn't lose sight of the fact they're still an evil who have continuously shown themselves to be hardly a net positive on the game themselves. The brass neck on them, Sky and whoever. Whilst I think football did need to unite here, and I'm glad it did, and glad it won this battle, the war is still largely getting away from us and this further cements that. UEFA complaining about the ESL is akin to a Chelsea fan moaning about Man City's takeover and spending. The Milan ultras statements were spot on - these aren't new things, this didn't just pop up overnight, this has been brewing for years and it's largely because of a culture that people like UEFA have helped to manifest. There is a long way to go. My fear now is that the twelve go unpunished and it's brushed under the carpet, a bit like project big picture successfully was. -
I thought he was definitely the right type - clearly had something but fallen a bit out of favour. It's been clear for a while to me though that he wouldn't be sticking around. I think he's started one league game all season. He's clearly got a bit of talent, but I just don't think he's really what Rodgers wants. Romain Faivre is who I think we'll sign. We've been linked.
-
Cengiz Under not staying beyond this summer. Been obvious for a while but been confirmed today. I've heard the club have concerns over his fitness. A shame but the search goes on. My prediction is Romain Faivre. I reckon Thauvin goes to AC Milan.

To be honest, in hindsight, Vardy hardly flourished under Puel, Iheanacho is a confidence player and not much good as a lone striker, so what hope did he really have. He's won me over anyway. I do still think we need another striker, but I'm happy to keep him as an option here.
-
I dunno if this counts me, I was happy when we signed him but for his first two seasons he was terrible. Iheanacho is Rodgers' biggest success story here I think.
-
He's earned that. He's really turned it around here.
-
That was fucking awful in the end 0-4 FFS.

Austria v Denmark just reeks of a draw to be honest. Any game involving two of those two, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Poland and Czech Republic I just by default think "draw". The Tunisian game ended 1-0 and Mirandes v Tenerife would've also been on my list - but it's been postponed. It's decent really. I'm finding myself betting on less stupid stuff as a result of doing this, and it's admittedly been a bad habit in the past. I just think logically the odds on some draws are a bit overpriced.

Leicester will never be an elite club. Neither will Atalanta, neither will Frankfurt, neither will Real Sociedad. If there's any threat of it, the goalposts would move again. Even if we managed to qualify for the CL 5 years running and then missed out in year 6, making us one of the wildcards, they would have the rules changed before it could be allowed to happen. The only way we'd ever become an elite club is a Man City style takeover and even then we'd still be shunned for others who are already 'big'. It's just the way these people view the game. They have absolutely no feel for the game, have no appreciation for sporting achievement and can only see money. Such people will be furious that Leicester are likely to qualify for the Champions League again this season whilst one of Chelsea or Liverpool miss out. I'm not just saying that because I support Leicester, it's nothing to do with who we are, it's who we aren't, and we just happen to be the ones who put up the best fight, which I'm immensely proud of, but it always leads to a sad reminder of how soulless the sport is now. -

It really says it all. Football is just far too riddled now with people with no love or care for it. Platini might just be the worst thing that ever happened to football as he came from the category of people who you would hope have some real feel for it, yet he was just as corrupt as the rest of them. Football is gradually eating itself. This is the first step along the way to clubs having a guaranteed safety net in competition terms. There's always been too much reward for failure but this is a rule that is quite literally introduced to do that, and solely that.
