  1. Very good Doppel that one. Would definitely buy that again.
  2. I was shitting in diapers in the 70's. And to be honest with you, I have only watched bits of matches here and there over the past several years. I gave up around the time they started highlighting the puck for TV audiences.
  3. There's always that debate between keeping the traditional fans happy and appealing to a new demographic. I grew up with the free-flowing high scoring hockey of the early 90's, when even shit teams had at least one player with >100 points. The North Stars, Whalers, and Nordiques still existed and no one dreamt of hockey in Phoenix and Atlanta. The product now is vastly different and just doesn't appeal to me anymore.
  4. I stopped watching hockey when the league decided to overhaul the traditions. Re-alignment, renaming the conferences, ditching ties for OTL's. The only good thing they've ever done was introducing the obstruction calls, and I don't even know if that's a thing anymore.
  5. I agree that playoff hockey, and basketball, are the best the sport has to offer. The argument I have always had is the length of the regular season in comparison to the playoffs. Why play 80+ games (or in baseball, 160+ games!) only to have the title decided by a playoff. As for Bundesliga clubs getting a bye in the first round, that can fuck right off. If anything, I think Buli clubs should have to play away against any lower league opponent, unless the opponent agrees otherwise.
  6. https://www.kicker.de/kahn-ueber-play-offs-ich-finde-es-spannend-889491/artikel I'm a little surprised to hear Kahn say this. I'm even more surprised to see the comments from other clubs (Augsburg, Union, Bochum) reject the idea entirely. Tradition seems to be more important than an outside shot at winning a title. I'm torn on this subject. I understand the reasoning, both for and against, for end-of-season playoffs. There's a lot of hatred out there for the American sports model and I have to agree that having a lengthy regular season is meaningless if you're going to implement a playoff at the end.

Must be raining cash where you live. Butcher prices are outrageous here in the US.

Below freezing outside, so a bowl of chili is on the menu.
  9. With the amount of turnover at Gladbach it wouldn't surprise me if the new sporting director (whoever that may be) ends up with a new coach. Hopefully Tedesco will do just well enough that he'll keep the job awhile longer. Hertha... well, I'd like to think Roger is smarter than that.
  10. Roger Schmidt is leaving PSV in the summer. Lots of speculation that he'll come back to Germany. I would think that there will be some opportunities for him...*cough* Gladbach *cough*.

    1. The plate is on the countertop, which is granite. 2. The cat was sitting on a bag of rice because that's what cats do. 3. There was a school folder under the bag of rice. 3. I don't know why the rice was there. It was not a part of the meal. 4. The cat was dozing and I pushed the plate under her nose to see if she would react. 5. She did not. 6. I didn't consider the impact the peripherals would have on this photo. 7. My kitchen is a wreck. 8. @JoshBRFC it's still on.

Beef with bell peppers. Also posting in the pets thread so I get two posts for the price of one pic.
  13. The club seems entirely tone deaf to the situation. They said something about the decision being strictly "football related". Two board members resigned in protest and supposedly both shirt sponsors have pulled (or are pulling) their support.
  14. It's an eye for an eye as the saying goes. I have no sympathy for the fucker. Some might say that's fair punishment.
  15. Maybe he's getting raped now. Only fair.

Maybe so, but it's my dump of a city. Fuck off.

  18. Union is challenging for CL spots. Surprised they're letting him go, even if his contract is up. The money from CL could help replace him.
  19. My first ever IPA was Stone Arrogant Bastard. In general I like their beers but if I want a German beer I'll buy a beer from Germany. I'm pretty proud of my local breweries. They don't do German beers but they do make some fucking fantastic beer. I've been spoiled for choice here and in all my travels in the US I haven't found a region with a better selection.
