  1. I think it's a ridiculous claim that they can somehow spin more money than Real Madrid. We all know these "external" UAE sponsors, many of whom just have "PAGE COMING SOON" if you go to their website are just the UAE funneling money to the club and reporting it as revenue. I suppose they don't care as long as they get away with it. But I think it's funny they think it's a convincing defense of the way they've gone about building their football club without regard for the FFP rules.
  2. I loved scoring a goal in competitive games then spamming "nice save" over and over and watching people get very angry
  3. No but there's a guy in the first 3 called Cain (but he's your friend, no violence against him unfortunately)
  4. I prefer the defense some Arab city fans have made online: “yes we cheated but who cares, but Qatar is funding the investigation into this!” And the time before this where City were caught red handed the CAS bailed them out by saying the evidence was too old to be considered so it’s not really a debate over whether or not you’re financially doping but rather how much of a difference it’s made to City’s fortunes on the pitch.
  5. I've been playing them since the first one (when I was pretty young tbh) on my uncle's computer. So for me a part of it is the nostalgia - but also for the most part they're brilliant games (I never played the mobile one though and 3 was a bit... meh). Idk if you've ever played Borderlands or if you liked that - but it's sort of like that type of game. You kill stuff, you pick up the loot they drop and level up and get a bit stronger... that helps you kill things that are harder to kill and level up some more and get better loot, which'll help you later as you kill stuff that's harder to kill. It sounds repetitive... and it is - but it's weirdly addictive. For 3 and 4 (especially 4) they've added a lot more to the "end game" scenarios than they had in the first couple of games, which sort of makes it feel less repetitive. But I love the series tbh so I'm biased as fuck.
  6. Absolutely. If we can hear the decision making process being made you get a sense of what the fuck they're actually thinking. Right now when there's VAR review and they spend time going over the replays and coming to the wrong decision we're all just left with a sense of "what the fuck, do they not have working eyeballs?" People make mistakes and they're in a high profile & high pressure job, so having us hear what's happening will make humanise them a bit and probably get people raging at how bad referees are... and I say this as someone who thinks the officials get far too much protection from their bosses in the top flight.

Did I say congrats yet @Stan? If so, congrats again! If not, congrats!
  8. I think Everton won titles back then. Is Dixie Dean famous elsewhere in the UK... or do I only know about him because he's born in Birkenhead like me? Genuine question, I've got no idea. I feel like I'd heard about him from old Evertonians but looking at the dates, there's no way any of those people saw him play either
  9. He'll already always be known as a premier league great though?
  10. I blame lederhosen, which @Tommy has assured me is part of what people normally wear in their day to day lives in Germany.
  11. My big takeaway is that nobody gives Steve Bloomer enough credit for his contributions to English football. Also Dixie Dean's goalscoring record is fucking incredible. 310 goals in 362 league games, that's fucking insane. I know pre-WW2 football was completely different, but fucking hell that's almost a goal per game.
  12. I didn't know that I had to google it He's still #2 in the record books and I'd never even heard of him before in my life. I'd heard of Jimmy Greaves & I've heard of Dixie Dean, but never once had I heard of Bloomer.
  13. Steve Bloomer was the record scorer in top flight history in 1921. Even though he stopped playing in 1914, he had 314 goals before he retired.
  14. If Kane goes his whole career without winning a league title or a CL, I'll remember him as one of the best players I've ever seen to not win a league title or CL. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, especially if he stays at Spurs - I'll remember him as a guy who was an absolute legend for one club and was one of the best players in the league. If he goes to another league and wins stuff there, I'll remember him as one of the best players I've seen in the league that left the league to get some much deserved tangible prizes for his quality. Either way, I don't think anyone who's watching English football now is going to forget about Kane any time in the next few decades.
  15. They don't take your winners medal and get to claim they won the league the year you won it
  16. Yeah but it's not like it means he's suddenly the record scorer in the English top flight. The "top prem scorer" thing is just kind of bullshit branding tbh because they, for whatever reason, didn't want to acknowledge the history of the game in England. Kind of shit for Jimmy Greaves, tbh. All it really shows is he's scored a lot of goals in England, but didn't hit Greaves' actual record... ... and he's already scored a lot of goals in England, but not actually hit Greaves' actual record. I'm sure breaking the record would mean a lot to him because it's a remarkable achievement. But like @Spike says, some other dickhead can come in and take the record from him. Nobody's going to take away a league title from him if he wins one with Bayern, unless Bayern are match-fixing or doping and get a Juve style penalty. In the last 5 years, Man City have won the league 4 times. That's only marginally worse than Bayern winning the league 5 out of the last 5 years. In most of those 5 years, other than the year City didn't win it, it's been a 2 horse race from what I remember. It seems to be pretty similar in Germany with Bayern Munich & Dortmund. Honestly, playing at Spurs he's basically been trying to contend for titles like he's turned the video game settings up to "hard" mode. His quality at this point is undisputed, I wouldn't blame the man at all for wanting to play on "easy mode" and get some tangible prizes in the form of medals.
  17. How's it worth more though? It's not like he's the top scorer in the top flight in England if he breaks the record... he's just top scorer since football sold it's soul in 1992. I feel like putting more weight to that record compared to winning the league in Germany is a bit... weird? At least if he wins the league in Germany he's actually won the league in Germany. Maybe if he was beating Jimmy Greaves' record... but I don't know if anyone will beat that unless Haaland sticks around for 20 years. And yeah, Bayern always have a chance in the CL. They're one of the most consistently competently run teams in Europe, tbh. I think there's a real draw to going there if you want to win stuff, because they basically exist just to win stuff... and going abroad means he doesn't have to do things like score on Spurs or be a part of ruining Spurs' hopes by helping a competitor beat them to Europe or shit like that. Idk, if it was me... I wouldn't give a shit about individual records and if he does, then I don't think he should complain too much about Spurs not being the most competitive side in the league - he's got a team where he's the absolute focal point and like you & Stan have said, with the standards he's set he probably gets the record without leaving Spurs in about 2 seasons. I think if he leaves for another English side, he's tarnishing his legacy with Spurs. He'll always be loved by their fans - but I think it'd tarnish things a bit to see him in some other English club's kit... and breaking the record there. And if he wants to win things and a club like Bayern are in for him, I think that's the best of both worlds. Leave Spurs as a legend, go to a place that's easier to forgive him fucking off to, sign up for a few years of guaranteed silverware and medals that he can show his kids and grandkids and greatgrandkids. If I were him and I just wanted to leave for titles, I'd probably be moving heaven and earth to get this move done as early as possible in this transfer window... unless I knew that Real Madrid were waiting for the Spurs contract to expire and I'd know I have a spot in Madrid waiting for me. But Madrid could always back out. I don't see the point in him leaving for any other club in England that isn't Manchester City though. City are favourites every year, every other club has a serious fight on their hands to even contend... let alone beat City to the title. Now that they've got Haaland, there's no real need for Kane anymore. But I guess perspective really just matters on whether you weigh the team achievement of titles more than the individual achievement of breaking a record. But if you want titles, there's few clubs better to move to than Bayern Munich tbh. And unlike PSG, they're a more serious club, in a more serious league, that can be taken more seriously when talking about the ultimate club football tournament... the champions league.
  18. It's great. If you played the old ones, especially 1 & 2... it really feels like it's taking me back to my childhood. I really think they've done a great job of taking the atmosphere of the 2nd game, taking some of the quality of life improvements from the 3rd game, and coming up with some new ideas to put them together for a really nice Diablo experience.
  19. Is the record worth as much as the chance of winning league titles in the rest of his career? I'm not sure it is. Records will eventually be broken. And that record isn't even the top flight record of goals in England - which is held by Jimmy Greaves at 357 goals...
