The issue with getting rid of Gomez and/or Jones is the homegrown quota in the squad. I'm sure Liverpool are already at the limit so if you're selling them you're going to need to bring in one or two overpriced English players. Let's see what happens between now and the end of the season before we start writing players like Fabinho off though

Yeah you're probably right, certainly didn't help his case.

I think at the time Dalglish possibly had a case for being given another year. Reached both cup finals, winning one. The league finish was awful but a lot of bad luck involved along the way. It started to fall apart when Lucas was out for the season from about January. Gerrard missed half the season through injury too. I seem to remember some ridiculous stat about the amount of times they hit the woodwork that season too. Rodgers coming in after him then had the benefit of Suarez being well on his way to becoming the best in the league.

You can question how they've decided to spend money but there's nothing going missing. Their model works if you're not up against the most juiced up football club in the world.

I don't disagree with any of that but we have spent money recently, it's just all been on attackers.

Sounds like it has. I wonder if Fabinho at CB is worth another go should there be an injury to Matip or Gomez. He's clearly not up to it in midfield at the moment
