    Paris Olympics 2024

Enjoying the Olympics so far. Been a decent watch once the opening ceremony was out of the way. Lots of good moments so far in some of the gymnastics and especially the swimming. And plenty of Athletics still to come. Not even a week in yet!
  2. All fair points and perhaps I'm being too dismissive. And it's not just about wanting explosive Championship wingers. But I'm just thinking it's just not what I expected. Appreciate he's a good holder of the ball and servant and workhorse, so to speak, but I see us needing something more than that right now. Not to mention he's 32 and we don't have a good record recently of being shrewd with wages. We'll end up paying him a hefty whack when it could be invested elsewhere.
  3. Palace signing decent players while shifting their deadwood. I'd like to think we're better than this (in terms of recruitment) but our owners/DOF are so inadequate maybe I expect too much. 30 goals in over 240 apps in PL. Not what we need, and I'd rather spend money on someone that could produce more. Need better than 1 in 8 as that isn't going to keep us up...
  4. Survival. At any cost. Impending points deduction will derail our season somewhat, but if we can overcome that, I'll be happy. No-one knows a) how many points it'll be and b) when it'll be decided and implemented. I'd rather it be decided from the start so we know where we stand. Even if we finish 17th, it's survival and then we can build on that and put the deductions and hard slog that the season will be behind us. We have a difficult period between Feb-Apr (playing all of Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle & Liverpool in those months). I don't know what to make of Cooper yet, and we still need more creative players in the squad, especially a central midfielder and striker. We've lost plenty of goal contributions with Dewsbury-Hall leaving, and not yet replaced him. The positive is that we've managed to keep Fatawu, but it's hard to place all the creativity on his (and Mavididi's) shoulders. Man City will win the league. They'll sadly find a way. Arsenal to perhaps push them closer. Liverpool perhaps the next best challengers. Don't think Man Utd and Chelsea will amount to much. The latter are set to be in for a weird season - a manager that Chelsea fans seemingly didn't want, players played out of position and it wouldn't surprise me if Maresca was one of the first few managers to be sacked. Boehly has no patience and Maresca's already starting on the back foot. I'm most intrigued by Villa - splashed the cash, in Champions League and be interesting to see how their league form is impacted. Think Southampton and Ipswich will be near the bottom. Perhaps Everton, Brentford, Forest and maybe Fulham near the bottom?

  7. Very good thread here on how the disinformation spread and then has severe consequences. No shock at all to see leading far-right extremists at the heart of it...

    Paris Olympics 2024

Hmm. Chris Hoy. Max Whitlock. Laura Trott. Bradley Wiggins. Jason Kenny. Duncan Scott. Arguably all better as athletes than Murray. Probably a few others I've missed.

  10. Bet you several of them attacking the police were also bemoaning the guy attacking the police in the airport last week too...
  11. Far right rally turning into chaos with them attacking a mosque (for no reason) and then attacking police. Absolute neanderthal cunts.
  12. Far-right rally apparently being organised in Southport Pathetic, really.
  13. Everton Away: Man Utd Away: Real Madrid Third: Arsenal Third: Chelsea Away: Bayern Third: Juve Away: Atletico Away: Celtic Away:
  14. Yep, you can tell someone's true colours when the first thing they think of is the ethnicity of the attacker as opposed to the several lives that have been ended or impacted because of their actions
