  1. @Carnivore Chris Yesterday was day of dance festival at uni.

I ate no food all day. Started drinking at 10.30. First lines at 11.30. Had a bag to myself. MD at 5pm, smoked weed at a couple of points through the day. Was home reasonably early (midnight). But to say I feel like death is an understatement. My soul is withered. Desiccated. A husk.

Also a fucking bee got into my bedroom at 7 am what a fucking spectacle that was.

    Hope I made you proud.

I don't see the point in going on about it all the time. That's the second time recently that you have compared the two with no one even asking. Some people like aew others like wwe. If you dont like aew dont watch it

I compared the 2 major wrestling companies. Obviously.
I don't like WWE either. But that was an excellent PPV. AEW aren't gonna pay you for blowing them my guy. If you don't like my opinion ignore it.

I don't even think his heel turned was planned was it? Aew were forced into it?

Due to shit booking. You don't book a babyface to be inseparable from his annoying GF who he cheated on with over his fiancé who he proposed to on national television

Thought this recent episode was the best of the lot. Finally some actual drama that sets up the story's main premise.

The pacing of the show is still terrible. Characters are dying and they are trying to portray it as if we should care about them when they've only had like 5 minutes of screen time.

To be fair to the Fulham players if some twerp that look like Penfold made me stand still for 40 minutes in training whilst he walked off to do other things I'd down tool until he got sacked too.

If I earned 200k a week and my boss asked me to stand still for 40 minutes I'd make my atoms stop fucking vibrating.

I don’t think Klopp is much of a tactician but most of the best coaches.aren’t either. Footballers are mostly dumb as fuck so they need a coach  to trick them into doing what the coach wants. Maybe the players are getting too pig headed and doing what they want, need a bit of hairdryer treatment. Maybe he should throw a shoe a Salah.

There is a reason why the academia and his colleagues say Biesla is a genius despite not having much success, it is because he is a tactical genius but can’t communicate his ideas to the morons he coaches. Klopp doesn’t have that problem because he knows how to tell an idiot what to do. The ability to disseminate  complex information to a dumb jock is underrated.

You've also got to balance it with not upsetting them. There's very little accountability for footballers. Felix Magath was very successful as a manager in the 00s. But as footballers became more and more powerful within the hierarchy he got worse and worse results, as players don't want to have to train harder, eat better, and be more disciplined and accountable than the team down the road.

  7. About 6-8 years ago our conservative treasurer said something along the lines of "if young people can't afford houses these days it's only because they eat too much avocado on toast"

Why does nobody ever ask them who's going to do the (often essential) minimum wage jobs if their expectation is for everyone to just move into the careers that pay better?

Well luckily you're in a free trade union that allows foreign labor access to your country to.... wait a minute.

I think the sheer impact on people's bills and living standards has become so pronounced now that they won't be so easily seduced by those headline figures of GDP and such.

As an economics student at A Level and undergraduate it has always frustrated me how people assess political parties on how they handle "the economy". Obviously you want GDP to be increasing, but if the majority of the population isn't feeling the benefit of it in their day to day lives then what good is it? The state of things at the moment though, I don't think many people will be swayed by "GDP this" and "reduced national debt" that or any of those headline figures if their energy bills and mortgages are still through the roof.

"The population is more productive than ever!"
Because technology is better than ever
Because the number of workers in the population is higher than ever
Because the cost of living is higher than ever and everyone is working more hours
Because everyone has record debt, moving more money through more hands

But hey, the population is more productive than ever!!

I've enjoyed it so far but one thing bothered me. Thought Cole murdering the knight of kisses in cold blood without any consequences was ridiculous. In the book he murdered him in the tourney, which makes sense, but at the actual wedding? Come on.

Matt Smith is still annoying me as Daemon. Still has yet to win me over.

Shovel face was bland. Don't know why so many were sucking him off. Probably a dr who thing.

There's a reason I specifically didn't say Hungary. We seem to always get Poland/Switzerland and I can't ever recall losing to either of them.

You lost to Switzerland in euro 2012 qualifying because James Milner is a donkey and always was. IIRC

Pound taking a beating is because Truss is lowering taxes with high national debt yet also with fuel subsidies raising public expenditure. The markets don't think she has a sound plan.

Truss is an ideologue so don't think she will change quickly which will put pressure on interest rates which might hurt some in the near future.

Fracking does have problems with toxicity and earth tremors in the wrong places yet nearly all manufacturing poisons rivers and the waste gets washed there due to cost of disposing of waste.

South East Asia is pretty bad as the main rivers become the rubbish disposal with huge amounts of plastic bottles going out to sea.

Personally would like us to get hydrogen from sea water which would be dearer yet not as expensive as at the pump now. Hydrogen can also be used to burn cleanly. We would still need some oil though.

I was an exercise science student before I traded my test tubes for an abacus, which means I was a chemistry student. Here's what they don't tell you about desalinization.

    1. It is MEGA energy intensive. Osmotic pressure is used to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from the shite in sea water. This requires enormous energy. In the middle of an energy crisis this is a shit and expensive idea.

    2. The waste product desalinization creates (what is left behind after you take out the water) is right up there with nuclear waste in terms of toxic fucked up shit that can only be disposed of long term by shooting it into space. Desalinization on a large scale is a thing that might be useful decades from now when renewable and nuclear energy are in full swing and we're already disposing of nuclear waste by firing it at the next galaxy over, but until then, no Bueno.

  12. They need to change the law around Mankading. You should need to be Mankaded twice, and you're out on the 2nd. Except maybe 20/20 where the short game lends itself to one and done.

Us getting beaten by Belgium twice was a big talking point of the World Cup. We were all aware Germany were not the Germany of previous years.

Southgate took us from being a side that couldn’t get past a group stage or past Iceland to a side that beat those teams and we all enjoyed that a lot because supporting England is mostly a shit experience.

You are also forgetting that in the build up to the Euros, Southgate was heavily criticised and was up until the Scotland game. The limitations he imposed on the team were obvious, but he’d then managed to get us to a final which is a nice experience so we decided not to get angry at him. A very normal reaction.

You only see Southgate’s tenure and the fans reaction in black and white, but the truth is that at the World Cup when he took over we knew we were shit, we were just happy to be winning football matches because the tournament before we got knocked out by Iceland. At the Euros vs Scotland most fans were annoyed with the style of play, the annoyance wasn’t born out of a surprise as if we had believed we were amazing, it was just a natural shift from the positivity of the previous tournament as we’d all watched Southgate’s England struggle to be anything other than direct and void of creativity in the time between those two comps.

What we are now seeing is a further build up of that. There is no “gotcha” moment that you crave, even if we’re average or shit were not going to be dwelling on that when after decades of failure we have managed to reach a semi and a final. No one expects England to be world beaters, so we’ve enjoyed the ride whilst it lasted and all we can hope is that Southgate can pull a rabbit out of that hat, however that looks increasingly unlikely as if we make it out of the group stage we will have to play much tougher KO games than in previous tournaments.

That's bullshit. The random draw machine got you out of the group stage. You think Southgates England get past the Uruguay and Italy you faced? He got Tunisia and Panama instead. There's your hero.

What’s happening now isn’t a shock though, it’s a departure from previous form at the World Cup and the Euros which is naturally frustrating but it’s not a shock because we have never seen a progression in Southgate’s England and it’s been quite commonly known that he’s not trying to win competitions in a way a side like Spain or Italy did.

Okay, so people wanted Gareths girth in their gob 2 years and 4 years ago and they want him gone but no one is surprised? Fuck me. Not a chance.
