If one of the top six don't come in for him he's either got to go abroad which I can't see, or save at least some face by going to a West Ham or a Newcastle.

Barkley on loan isn't impossible.

I thought there were already rumours of McLaren getting Renault engines. Mercedes and Ferrari will never supply them so long as they have works teams so it's either Renault or another ambitious project from left field getting Porsche into F1 or something like that but they've been bitten once trying that with Honda.

That's a great deal for Sauber and sorely needed because they've struggled since Perez and Gutierrez left. Giovinazzi looks a terrible shout given that he crashed yet another Haas this morning in Practice. Charles Leclerc is the hot property for next year and is affiliated with Ferrari so it's much more likely he'll get a seat with Sauber now that Ferrari's other pals Haas have confirmed Grosjean and Magnussen for 2018.

Maybe Formula E is the future challenger to F1? I've personally never watched Le Mans or Indy Car or any other single seater series besides Formula 1, I've never watched a single session of Formula E either. The only interest I take in those events is if a former F1 driver I have an interest in is taking part. The Indy 500 is one of the greatest races in the world and I only watched parts of that this year because Alonso was taking part. Sadly I just can't be entertained by other single seaters when I know they're pretty much just slower variations of F1 machines and often driven by guys who couldn't make it in F1. I have more time for Touring Cars and Motorbikes, because it's actually a different discipline. It is worrying though how much manufacturers are cutting back from motorsports, but if people aren't paying attention to DTM or LMP1 they have no incentive as a business to spend millions of pounds investing in a sport which is going to yield only a relatively small positive impact on their brand if they're successful.

The sooner this iteration of Honda gets out of F1 the better, so this is good news for me.

*******SpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilers******* Good episode that. Nervous about a few things. Winterfell: Jon seems to be riding off without support from many of the lords. Sansa will have a job keeping them all under control while Baelish looks to manipulate her. Hopefully Arya or The Hound arrive soon and reveal to her that Baelish betrayed Ned giving her a reason to take his head. Arya: I hope I'm wrong here, but my interpretation of that scene with the wolf and her conclusion "that's not you" seems to be her deciding that being the girl who goes home just isn't who she is. I hope I'm wrong, the more Starks at the family reunion the better. Kings Landing: Lord Tarly is a dick, he'll obviously side with the Lannisters. I also don't see what's so revolutionary about that massive crossbow Qyburn is making when we've seen them before in the show and it needs the dragons to be sat still right in front of it. Still reckon they'll kill a dragon though, I just hope it's believable when they do. Dragonstone: I liked Varys' reasons for backing Daenerys, believable and fits with her ideals. The Grey Worm Missandei sex scene seemed a bit unnecessary but after all the screen time they've given them had to happen I guess. Looking forward to seeing Tyrion take Casterly Rock but hope he stays long enough to reunite with Jon Snow first. Greyjoys: Didn't enjoy the battle scene that much as I could barely tell what was going on. Would have been better if two Sand Snakes had been killed just in battle, not single handed by Euron who also captured Asha himself. And Theon, come on man... again?

https://streamable.com/5pk91 Some interesting comments from Samuel Eto'o on Guardiola and also Mourinho. I'd take anything he says with a massive pinch of salt though given that he reportedly spent half his time in the Everton changing rooms trying to convince players that they should move to bigger clubs, cunt.

Feeling pretty shitty tonight, had my last day at my job today and only realised this week how attached I've got to my form group over the last two years, I'll miss them most of all. This is something I'll have to get used to if I plan on teaching for another 40 years I suppose.

Confirmed, we face Ruzomberok at home next Thursday at Goodison with the return leg a week after.
-
SK Brann won the away leg 1-0 but now trail Ruzomberok 0-2 at home with just injury time left. Slovakia it is, by the looks of it.
-
Same at every club mate, we've got Ademola, Onyekuru and Hewelt among our own youth team.

Some proper English sounding names in there.

That's a bit random.

I don't know how good that Twente side was or where they're up to in their own pre-season preparations but I've seen more than enough there to continue to fuel my optimism for the new season. Stekelenburg was largely untroubled but the cameraman did linger on him after the goalmouth scramble early in the second half so he may well have had a dodgy moment there. Kenny was solid, more to come from him I'm sure, linked up well with Lookman and Calvert-Lewin once or twice. Martina replaced him during the second half, didn't have much to do defensively but looks like he enjoys getting forward. Keane impressed me, Williams and Jagielka were also solid while on the pitch, but we weren't put under any pressure. Besic at centre half was interesting and might have something to it, he carried the ball out of defence well a couple of times. Baines is still an intelligent footballer and seems fit, while Connolly had a few decent forays forward when he came on for the second half. Barry was solid in the first half, McCarthy did nothing wrong but he also didn't do anything to change my opinion that he is now surplus to requirements in our squad. Schneiderlin was probably the most anonymous player after coming on aside from Jags, we were dominant after all of the substitutions in the second half. Gueye looks sharp, got forward more than he usually does and looked to add something to the attack, I believe he hit the post at one point but didn't see a replay to confirm. Lookman was our most impressive player in the first half, very threatening and skillful, just needs to be more consistent with his end product. Davies had a couple of good moments too and looks in tip-top condition, while Mirallas was frustrating at times early on before scoring a cracking opening goal that should boost his confidence. We looked even more dangerous with our finishing front four though, Klaassen looks a really solid player and showed some good link up play, Dowell scored another great goal and also provided a good cross for Klaassen at one stage, while Lennon also got himself on the scoresheet and looked fit and busy too. It's great to see him on the pitch again after his recent issues, whether or not he goes on to play a significant role in our future. Calvert-Lewin was a threat in the first half due to his physical attributes, but he still needs to improve his composure in the final third. Hopefully the confidence from scoring a (youth) World Cup winning goal earlier in the summer will boost him a bit. Rooney had a decent performance when he came on, some top class touches here and there, but also lost the ball a couple of times which saw our attacks break down - no major complaints though.
-
Dowell makes it 3-0, good footwork on the edge of the box and a nice curling finish.
-
Lennon! Massive deflection but he's looked sharp since coming on. Rooney and Klaassen linking up well and Gueye also looking in top condition.
-
0-1, Mirallas with a cracking finish after cutting inside. If he can get 7-8 of them in the league this season I'll be happy. His future looked uncertain before but the new contract shows he has the manager's backing, time to push on (again). A pretty flat first half overall. Looking forward to seeing some others come on for the second half but I hope it doesn't just fizzle out like so many friendlies do when it's just both teams trying to get as many minutes in as many legs as possible.
-
DCL now receiving treatment. A decent start for us but then it got a bit more even. Lookman, Davies and Keane look sharp. Nobody looking too sluggish apart from arguably McCarthy. Looking forward to seeing Klaassen, Sandro, Rooney later on.

We're about to kick off against FC Twente - I'm watching on a Dutch stream which looks alright. I thought I was witnessing amazing banter when I saw "Lames McCarthy" on the team sheet - appropriate - but then noticed it was just a mistake when I spotted Jonsoe Kenny. Anyone interested in the link PM me.

He won't appear again.
