  1. I'd wait 10 games into the season to see how things start to pan out. I do think we'll end up with Thiago before the window closes as rumors are going around now post him turning down a 4yr deal at Bayern that he's already got an agreement in the pipeline. It's just a waiting game now and I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed when its over.
  2. While I think its high (I have personally dealt with this for a work project) I also respect two factors that come out of this. You don't get by with sub-standard security work. They force you to put their customers first. The last type of app that needs special workings on a mobile device platform is a game. That's the best vector for compromising any kind of network. Gamers themselves cheat and use exploits all the time and these guys want their own store on the AppStore. I think Apple could get away with a lower margin here but I agree with @Bluebird Hewitt Epic are trying to do something they shouldn't be. Facebook has more of a case when it comes to privacy on iOS than Epic.
  3. Haha nothing to be ashamed of. I've put in way too much time similarly into games like Dark Souls, NiOh, etc. My current off-beat game is Spiritfarer and although its a silly game I do enjoy the amount of time I have put into it.
  4. Well Yakuza does take time you know
  5. My original PS4 is still running fine and not causing any issues, it just gets a bit less time now considering I got gifted a PS4PRO when it released. But you're right there weren't that many hot titles on launch day which is what they're trying to address this time. It also really depends on the dev studios to step up to the plate but I think a start with Spiderman, Horizon and a GT game within the space of two months should be a good start. I am one game down on my PS4 now and then my backlog is done and I dont plan on getting any more games. Also, don't know if you're interested but ... https://kotaku.com/new-hyrule-warriors-is-a-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-preq-1844983105
  6. Buying a gen-1 XBX or PS has not always been smart anyways. They've had issues for years and with the new designs I am sure there will be thermal issues considering what they are housing and the power draw. I'd wait till March and then get one as by then they'll have some good titles (Playstation of course)
  7. Phase 1 of "Playing-Chicken" has now come to fruition with Microsoft doing a press released for Xbox-S at $299. https://kotaku.com/microsofts-next-gen-xbox-one-series-s-is-only-299-1844979695 But of course no one really cares for this as the two big press releases for price are still on the horizon.
  8. They aren't coming back to the App Store without a public apology and then paying the fines for what they did and then signing a contract and abiding by it. Serves them right in the end really because you can't say you're going to follow the rules then try to fuck the platform you're on by going in a totally different direction. They thought they'd have a better stance by now but unfortunately they tried to go up against the one company whose legal documentation for platform dispersal is super air-tight. This also very funnily happens to coincide with the Facebook privacy fiasco also against Apple so who knows what Epic was thinking when they did this.
  9. I was a bit disappointed honestly. I was kind of hoping for news about a new Mario release (future dated) but I suppose this is for fans who never got to play the originals. Remasters however? IDK.
  10. I don't know if anyone has an account on The Athletic but it seems the club is targeting the October visit of Sheffield United to open the doors for 12500 fans to watch the game. That's approximately a 23% attendance capacity. https://theathletic.com/2037074/2020/09/03/liverpool-anfield-sheffield-united-coronavirus/
  11. What fascinates me most about this video (yeah it a bit long) is the fact that Intel only said its product name ONCE in the entire presentation. Keep in mind that its a deck spanning 100s of pages and they consistently called out their competitor (yes AMD is a real competitor in the space now) more times. I hope someone lost their job over this and more importantly I hope Intel finally bucks up and gets it pricing act together. They could obliterate AMD just by market-share of instruction-set space and send Apple a clear message to fuck off back to the lab for all eternity. But no, lets talk about what everyone else is doing versus doing it ourselves. AMD doesn't really win this round because it wasn't ever really participating but watch this space because in a few years from now laptops are going to get a lot cheaper and when they do we can all thank AMD and ARM for not pulling their punches and doing something innovative as compared to their competitor. P.S. I also like how the benchmark discussions went and of course theres a bit of BS there because you need a common denominator workload to test products irrespective of the instruction set being used.

I learn a lot everytime I have to retune an instrument or spend time adjusting the saddle portion. I am genuinely scared that once I do it wrong I am never going to get it right but over time and countless hours of mistakes I have gotten very good at it. Mind you, I won't touch someone else's instrument for fear ill fuck it up.
  13. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/08/apple-terminates-epics-app-store-access-following-fortnite-dispute/ Apple dropped the hammer. Now we will have to wait and see what happens next. I think Sweeney was playing with fire here and got burned as a result. The real question now is can they prove in court with the further hearings that Apple is being monopolistic and unfair in their decision. Epic has some pretty strong stances on banning users so its nice to see them get fucked in all of this even if the company doing said act is also shady when it comes to platform governance.

Saw a video some time back with a wooden block to allow tension holding and its something you can use at home too but I don't do it anymore and just hand it in to the shop to have it intonated.
  15. From the new album that came out this month.
  16. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/08/playstation-5s-preorder-phase-begins-based-on-fans-playstation-activities/ Interesting way to go about it. Probably done to generate hype more than anything else as I really do believe this time the XBox will be cheaper than the Playstation on launch day. Sadly thats not going to stop Sony from steam-rolling Microsoft over the holidays once again.

    Work/Jobs Thread

Good luck you've got this just remember your Python programming.
  18. Always wanted to see Imphal. Looks quite nice that and they is that chocolate milk in the last pic?
  19. It's time to stop playing when you get a wake up call like this. Apparently its the third time now.
  20. This comment made me laugh "When you work in IT and you kissed a girl for the first time at 40". Totally apt for that crowd on stage.
  21. I think Apple will eventually have to come to terms with what Epic are doing because its setting a bad precedent for them as a company that is now going to lose a big game driver on their mobile platform if they somehow manage to lose Unreal Engine. The company that could stand to benefit here is Google if they find a way to placate Epic and create a better eco-system for games on their platforms irrespective of how fragmented the Android landscape is right now.
  22. https://kotaku.com/epic-tells-court-its-apple-case-had-to-be-a-big-fight-1844834599 Apparently the courts have given their first ruling. U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has issued a temporary verdict on two of the case’s most pending issues, namely whether Fortnite would be allowed back on the App Store and whether Apple could restrict the use of apps using Epic’s Unreal Engine. She denied Epic’s request to have Fortnite reinstated but, as Bloomberg report, “granted the company’s request for a temporary order blocking Apple from limiting the game developer’s ability to provide Unreal Engine, key graphics technology, for other apps” What's truly odd is that Epic are claiming they had to break the contract with the AppStore to get into court which I think is bogus considering BigTech just got roasted by a Senate hearing not so long ago. Shit company that Epic but they do have a case for the Unreal Engine shit Apple is throwing back at them.
  23. I used to play competitively and there was one guy, you know that one guy. I was in college at the time and he'd come down from his dorm room to the common area like he'd just woken up and pick the most absurd characters like Dudley and give me a ass whooping. I told him to compete but he was too lazy to go to competitions.

So for me its been all kinds of hits and misses. I sit down with the work we're trying to get done as a band and sometimes Ill plough through things quick, e.g. I had to rewrite two bass line pieces the other day for that song I posted in here and I got the first part done lickity split but then I got to the second part and I really wished I was sitting in a room to play with someone as I went just blank. Then we've tried Zoom meetings but honestly thats just poor long-term so we went to pure writing and it helped for a bit but that also has its limitations. Can't wait for this whole covid shit to end so I can actually get in a room every week and sit down and jam. On the plus side, I have improved theoretically and practically on so many things its a bit unreal what giving me time does for my learning. I spend an hour still everyday trying to perfect things. Whether its a song, theory or just plain riffing. I took a leaf out of Oleg's book and am perennially connected to my DAW now so no matter what garbage I do I have it recorded haha. "I really miss playing with other people - aside from it being really fun, it makes me a better guitar player." - This right here is also what I miss. Sometimes you'll practice for hours, show up in a room and then its a matter of being in sync with the rest of the band and that's definitely missing from my learning. Taking an online class for pocket playing basics on bass as I think I am really just not feeling the groove right now so I'll have to see how that goes.
