Well I obviously have to test the product before recommending it to others!

Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen & Dutch company Stogger have developed a simple, affordable and effective ventilator to treat patients with serious respiratory problems. Just 370€. Open source too; all designs and building instructions will be released on their website, including medical and technical information. https://freebreathing.org/

Yes but only need an email address and don't even need to verify it. So can just use a temporary one.

PornHub Premium is free for everyone who pledge to self-isolate. No credit card required.

Don't be so sure. There are a lot of North Koreans illegally watching South Korean TV and listening to foreign radio. Estimated over 90%.

Just when you thought the self isolation could not get worse...

Just read the tests were manufactured by the Shenzhen Bioeasy Biotechnology. They advertise the specificity of 100% and sensibility of 90% for IgM and >90% for IgG, depending on the source. The Spaniards said they were promised 80% sensibility and are only getting 30%. I have a feeling this might turn out to be similar with many other tests by other manufacturers too.

Has anyone heard anything from @Cicero? Hasn't been online for a week now...

5210 new confirmed cases and 683 new deaths in Italy. Still many deaths but the increase in daily cases continues to fall; fourth day in a row now! And that's with more tests performed than in previous days. Seems that after two weeks we're indeed seeing the expected impact of the lockdown after all!
-
Cheers; have it on my database already hehe. The sensitivity and specificity of their tests are decent although they seem to not be that sensitive to the IgM antibody so might struggle to diagnose early stages of the infection.
-
No; what they do is detect the presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) which are the main antibodies produced by your body as a reaction to the viral antigen. So the strain essentially doesn't matter. What's good about the combined IgG/IgM tests is that they differentiate between the two antibodies allowing to identify if it's an early or middle/late infection so it can be used for diagnosing people with mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.
-
Thanks. Must be one of those IgG/IgM lateral flow assay rapid tests. It's quite interesting as using immunoassays allows for not just diagnosing an active infection but also providing historic information about viral exposure. Please let me know if you find out the manufacturer.
-
It's exactly what I've been working on for the last few days haha. Any idea who's the manufacturer and what kind of test it is?
-
If there's anything good to come out of this whole pandemics crap then it's hopefully more appreciation and respect for people who do essential jobs that keep society running. All the little cogs that ensure the system doesn't collapse.

@El Profesor I have read that the criminal gangs and militias in Brazil are imposing strict lockdowns in the favelas as the government is doing nothing. True or just bad reporting?
-
Wtf. How the heck does anyone even come up with the idea that 5G could have anything even remotely to do with people contracting the virus and dying from it? For fucks sake.
-
Daily increase in new cases falls again though; that's the most important stat in terms of containing the virus as it starts to look like a trend now. The number of deaths is sad but it's not a good indicator on how the virus is spreading day by day.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes...

More cases at equivalent point of time, yes.

Cool. I'll try to get it ready for the weekend then!
