Yeah, so in the end, they DID misjudge the situation - as they didn't expect the Red Bulls to be so fast on fresh softs, they didn't expect overtakes, and they didn't expect tyre differences to be significant in general, either. So it's either a bad decision, or they are really into risk aversion this season, which I find hard to believe.

Yeah, I've read that they opened the upper side of the engine cover for a chimney-like cooling, but only used it in free training and as you said, had no extra cooling modifications during the race. It's fascinating to see all the engineering decisions and the differences in how teams solve certain issues, very interesting.
