  1. That's actually not it The Triangulum galaxy is M33, the one I took there is M101, also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy. This one: https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap150614.html
  2. Also this one: https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap210214.html
  3. Haha, thank you. I have a lot more unprocessed raw images on my hard drive, but it takes quite a lot of time to process it until I'm happy with the final result, so I will need to commit more time to it if I'm serious about it Took a bunch of Jupiter images recently, and it's my first planetary observation+photography, so I'm quite eager to see how it works out.
  4. Thank you both Yeah, I've been in contact with them for almost a week now, and agreed to give it ago. We'll see how it goes. I think there's a growing demand for astrophotography images at the moment, so it would be pretty neat if it pays for a few beers every month, haha. @Viva la FCB here are some of my favourites (highly compressed as the original ones are 25MB+, so don't mind the quality)
  5. Finished Season 1 of Reservation Dogs yesterday. Really enjoyed it, the setting is unique to TV/movies and I love the humour in it.
  6. Received another offer to license my astro photos from 500px why is there suddenly a growing demand?
  7. I started learning AI for two reasons - because it always interested and fascinated me, and because I want to be ready for the battle when it arrives
  8. Are they from Rethymno, by any chance?
  9. I see two biggest concerns, mainly - automation happening too fast and the labour market failing to adapt and make a smooth transition. I believe there was an extensive report by McKinsey a while ago, and it estimated that about 50% of paid activity done by humans can be automated by using current technology available now, and depending on the speed that automation is implemented, up to 800 million workers could be displaced by 2030, with further 400 million in need of changing occupational categories. And it doesn't affect only lowest-skilled workers, either. Those are massive numbers, and the effects of that, especially in developing countries, could be disastrous (although it will likely take longer for developing countries to adopt automation, too).
  10. Yeah, I think they are planning to merge green and amber lists, so you wouldn't need the pre-departure or post-arrival tests for the UK anymore. I'm in Crete, no sign of Fusion yet
  11. To go to Spain, you need either a negative test or proof of vaccination, and you have to fill in a Health Control Form (Formulario de Control Sanitario) a day before your flight (they send you a QR code, and they check it on departure and arrival). I'm currently in Greece.
  12. With technology improving, self checkouts and similar technology will make cashiers - and many other jobs in general - obsolete in the future; the same thing that happened to phone operators, elevator operators, or gas station attendants, as well as many other professions that don't exist anymore. That's normal, and you can say that's the price of technological progress... It's also true that labour markets tend to adjust to changes and automation usually creates new jobs, and it's good if people can be retrained and take on new professions, but let's be honest, the transition is quite challenging for some, especially older workers. If many of lower skilled jobs get automated and become obsolete in the future, and if a significant part of global workforce has to shift occupational categories, learn new skills and be re-employed as a result, unemployment rates can potentially go through the roof, especially combined with the aging population.
  13. Ah, right. I was scratching my head there looking for a potential connection I don't use self checkouts, either. I don't like big businesses making me do the work so that they can save payroll and maximise their profits while I still pay the same price for the items Also, if I'm buying alcohol (which happens 90% of the time whenever I'm at the store), then I still have to wait for the cashier/attendant to approve it anyway. I also quite like short, non-binding human interaction. And they do make some jobs obsolete.
  14. What do self checkouts and immigration have in common?...
  15. Why would you think I'm religious though?

    Off Topic

    Yeah, great memories.
  17. I didn't even know that there are sequels... And yeah, I can imagine. Sequels rarely manage to keep up with the original, in general.
  18. The most powerful nuclear-powered ice breaker in the world, 50 Let Pobedy (50 Years of Victory). Arktika-class vessel with two nuclear reactors, 75000 HP, 160m long, 11m max draught, can break through 3 meter thick ice, cruising speed of 20 knots in open water. Has a dining room, sauna, library, auditorium, passenger lounge, volleyball court, gym, swimming pool (indoor, heated), infirmary, elevator, helipad (helicopter deck) with a Mi-2 transport helicopter. What a ship; looks so majestic and ominous.
  19. Divergent (2016) Not great, not terrible. Quite a predictable story, and has some serious pacing issues, but overall, a decent watch. Hunger Games-like, but I actually enjoyed this one better. 6/10
  20. Real-time marine traffic in Yellow Sea and East China Sea. Mind-blowing
  21. I'm one of those weird few who actually prefer humid heat over dry heat
