  1. I can assure you capers are nothing like olives, though.
  2. You never tried capers? I love it. Just a bit of sour, light vinegary taste. Either way, you don't have to worry about it, as restaurants tend to use as few capers as possible as they are quite costly Also liver is not intestines.
  3. He's a legend Ambros, Danzer, Fendrich. All quality singers-songwriters from Austria. Probably the only German-speaking singer I prefer over them is Marius Müller-Westernhagen, but he sadly has no concerts planned at the moment Have fun in Eastern Germany! But it's still Germany, don't expect culture shock You never had Soljanka before? I love it, great for hangovers... You probably had Königsberger Klopse? Senfeier? Berliner Leber? All that comes to mind to me.
  4. Booked tickets for Wolfgang Ambros concert in Innsbruck for April 2022... Austria here I come again
  5. Expect him to be much better next season. One of those drivers that's very exciting to watch when he's on top of his form, glad he'll get another chance to show his talent.
  6. See, I absolutely love cruise ships and love spotting/tracking them. I think they are beautiful, and it's incredible how well coordinated the actions of hundreds of people must be to make it function smoothly. That said, I can't imagine myself going on a cruise - the idea of being there with a thousand or so other passengers, it would drive me mad
  7. Seeing dolphins is so cool when they swim along your ship! We went dolphin and whale watching in Tenerife a few months ago, and it was one of the best experiences I ever had.
  8. 6 weeks at sea... How wonderful, must have been a brilliant journey. I'm jealous! Other than ferries, I've only been on smaller ships, mostly on the Mekong river. My favourite experience was a two day trip on Halong Bay with one of those Red Dragon junk boats:
  9. I miss @IgnisExcubitor, hope he's alright
  10. Appreciation thread for everything nautical, regardless if it's old vessels, modern container and cargo ships, massive cruise liners, tiny boats or just the peculiarities of sea travel in general. I'm fascinated by ships; they are marvels of engineering for me. Amerigo Vespucci, also known as the most beautiful ship in the world. Still part of the Italian navy as a training ship.

  12. Depends on the book and how much time I have. Usually manage around 200 pages in one sitting these days.
  13. Is he doing stand-up comedy now?

  18. I just realised that when you watch planes taking off in the middle of the night, the blinking red beacons and the white wingtip strobes make it look like Star Wars spaceships. I just watched four planes take off within 15 minutes, and it looked like Razor Crest was being chased by a bunch of X-Wings, followed by Darth Vader's Executor. I bet you're all blown away by this piece of random incoherent observation
  19. So, after almost 10 hours, the annual member meeting is now over and new supervisory board is elected - Harm Ohlmeyer, Ulrike Hiller, Dirk Wintermann and Dr. Florian Weiß were voted in, will form the new board with two remaining members Marco Fuchs and Axel Plaat. One of them with be chosen as a new chairman (Bode's replacement) in the first supervisory board meeting in October. Last season's fiscal report was presented during the meeting - the club made a loss of 8.8m (compared to a 23.8m loss in 19/20), equity capital is now -20m, long term liabilities are 38m in total (20m credit, 18m bond).
  20. There are two brilliant magazines in circulation, one is called Racecar Engineering and the other one's Race Tech Magazine - if you're into it and want to expand your horizons and learn more, I can highly recommend both. I've had digital subscription for years, some very insightful stuff there.
  21. I love mechanics and engineering in general, and it's crazy what kind of solutions those brilliant racecar engineering minds come up with regularly to find that extra speed, performance and drivability. Absolutely amazing.
  22. Only theoretically in terms of the downforce though. In practice, without any tweaks and modifications, the engine will just starve and stop working because the fuel and oil pickup is gravity based.
  23. I barely ever have takeaways. Maybe a pizza or a Chinese sometimes, once a month or two, but can just as easily go without it for half a year or so. I do eat in restaurants almost daily though, but mostly fresh fish/seafood or grilled lean meats, soup and fresh veg.
