Road to Perdition My other half hadn't seen this so we put it on Saturday night. Brilliant film. Somber, stately, and beautifully mounted, much in the vain of American Beauty. Brilliant cast, stunning cinematography and a gripping insight into fatherhood amidst the chaos of the mob. Never get bored of watching this. 9/10

Watching Soprano's right now. I'm on Season 2, about the 10th episode. I've been promised truly great things and I keep churning out the episodes but it hasn't 'got me' yet to the point I'm literally looking forward to watching the next episode. Going to start Narcos Season 3 when it's released on Friday.

Did a stag there last August. Very nice. Bernabeu tour was really good. I have a stag do in Lisbon next weekend, looking forward to that. Never been to Portugal.

We all wanted a really big death to 'shock' the audience, much like what we had with Ned, Robb, Joffrey etc. But was Littlefinger really big enough? Maybe it was too obvious we'd lose him. Perhaps it would have been better to go left field and take someone we never saw coming.

I thought Jaime was a goner when Cersei 'sort of' acknowledged The Mountain. He's a lucky boy. Definitely going to hook up with Brianne now. I really hope Tyrion doesn't turn. What with the way he was looking at Dany and Jon when they hooked up along with his meeting with Cersei where we don't know what was actually said after he acknowledged she was pregnant, I hope he's not going to become a mole and stab Jon/Dany in the back as 'repayment' for taking the blame of tearing apart the Lannister family that Cersei accused him of doing so. I really don't trust Bran. I don't know what it is but I just can't help but feel he'd tip people off more if he could see what was going. Like when he was watching the dead army tear down and march through the wall. Is he communicating with them in some way to lead them there? Is he actually in some way controlling The Night King or even is him? Where was Gendry? He was recovering at The Wall last episode after making it back alive but he was nowhere to be seen this episode? Not exactly the place you wanna be recovering... And there's no way Thormand and Sir Beric can die 'off screen' like that. I'm not buying it. They are alive.

I hope Jaime doesn't die anyway. Personally would love this series to end with him being provoked into killing Cersei. That would be a great shock given how devoted he has been to her. Maybe she could be lying about the pregnancy and he finds out, or she does something like get the mountain to kill Brianne that makes him tip over the edge.

Pretty sure I read something about the actor who plays Jaime saying that normally they are given their scripts for the whole series in advance, 4 weeks before filming but this time its been more hush hush that they only have up to a first few episodes. Obviously would assume he makes it to Series 8.

The only thing I'd say is that the impact of the dragons was so much more intense in Episode 4 because it was unexpected that 2 episodes later, I was less in awe at the impact of them. Still a great scene though if you enjoy it for what it is. I badly want one of those 'shocking' deaths that we've become accustomed to in seasons past. I really feel like we need that in the finale. Something that we just don't see coming.

You have two types of Thrones people. Those that have read the books and in doing so, are loyal to the original story and annoyed by the direction the TV series take. Or those that enjoy the TV series for what it is without any knowledge of the books. As long as we all have a hole in our arse, we will probably continue to disagree. I wouldn't knock you for your opinion but I wouldn't agree with it. Personally feel the majority of people love the TV adaption well enough on it's own merit.

I wasn't going to wait for this exact reason. Thursday to Monday is a bloody long time to try and avoid any kind of spoilers as far as GOT is concerned. I'd rather watch it and see everything unfold without any inklings at all. Like @Fairy In Boots said, no chance I'm ruining it for anyone until Monday has been and gone, but what I would say is the copy of it that I downloaded was brilliant so I don't feel I've dipped out not waiting HD. The episode is about 64mins long. Set's it up nicely for Episode 7.

I thought one of them was going for sure. The thing is we are that far into it now with certain characters from both sides coming up against eachother that it's leaving the audience torn as to who they want to see alive or dead. I could imagine many have been wanting to see the dragons let rip but on the flipside, Jaime and Bron are well liked.

I thought it was Bron that saves him. I'm actually more intrigued as to what Tyrion is thinking now. He was watching the carnage unfold with a 'What the fuck have i done' expression, almost as if he's backed the wrong horse with Dany going as mad as the Mad King. What with his failed plan with Casterly Rock, there looks to be some cracks in that alliance. As for Jaime, I'm glad he's survived although part of me thinks if he was to die, that would have been the best way to go out. Blaze of glory.

Ok guilty. I couldn't help myself. I caved and watched it. Decent copy to be fair, although as @RandoEFC and @Cicero said, your experience of watching Thrones is greater in HD. And if you have surround sound, it must be even more amazing. It's easy for me to say now but my advice is to wait. Will be worth it. Not saying fuck all till others have watched it and are commenting next week because I'm not that guy, but I agree with @IgnisExcubitor, it's fucking intense and the best episode of the series.

I work for a Freight Train operator based inside Southampton Docks so deal with a lot of shipping containers and trains. I work Day/Night shifts, 12 hours at a time. It's good pay for what I do (compared to some people out there in the real world) with little pressure, and I get a fair bit of time off as we sort of work to a 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off pattern. But, I do feel like I've become complacent in my role and have lost the impetus to test myself further. Perhaps it's because things are too easy for me or I've now got to the state where change unnerves me.

I read an article on this where the showrunners actually explained the reasoning behind it. It's actually a call back to Season One. Not that I can remember but Ned Stark said to Arya that one day she will be a lady and get married to which she replied "No. That's not me" When she see's her direwolf, she obviously wants it to come back home with her and be a loyal companion. But the direwolf, recognising her, doesn't want that as "That's not her", it's clearly moved on doing it's own thing and leader of a pack. So by Arya saying "That's not you" to her direwolf, even though she's kinda heartbroken, she realises that the wolf is only doing what she would do if she was the wolf.

Bit surprised to see Carl Frampton's fight has ended up on Channel 5, what went wrong for him there? I thought they only screened bums.

I've seen us linked with Elphick. That is one that could happen. I'd probably take him as well although I wish it was Chester.

I disagree. I think Bruce has been quite astute bringing in experienced players to be fair. Aston Villa have a huge squad, which still contains a lot of young players. Inexperience at times, was a contribution to their downfall last season, particularly when they tended to concede late goals. They gave far too many points away from winning positions. He's creating a good balance. When you add in your John Terry's, Glen Whelen's and Elmohamady's for example, you are also blending them with your Hogan (25), Kodjia (27), Hourihane (26), Lansbury (26), Johnstone (24), Grealish (21) etc. The only thing I'd say about Villa is, perhaps they have gone too OTT that they are extremely top heavy in certain departments and it will be hard to keep everyone happy. For this league, their squad is huge. Most sides that go up, are promoted because they have pretty much kept the same nucleus of players over the course of the season, which in turn creates a great team spirit. That could work against Villa if they don't find that and try to please too many players, but it's better to have options than not.

I was a little disappointed this wasn't the case too given the route they eventually took, especially as the start was so gripping because of such action. I actually think they missed a trick with The Colonel's character (Woody Harrelson). I've seen him play a bad guy before in Out of the Furnace and if he was portrayed as sinister as that, I think it could have potentially set up a great altercation between him and Caeser.

Yeah, I'd say it was 'steady'. I guess you assume with only 7 episodes. it's going to chug along at a ferocious pace but it was pretty much how all the opening episodes to each season are in the main. A focus on all the main players in the game. But great to be back. My thoughts... (Spoiler alert. Don't open unless you haven't watched the first episode)

War For The Planet Of The Apes - 8/10 Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar. There's no getting around the power of his performance in this, the conclusion of the prequel Apes trilogy of films. In Rise, he portrayed the character of Caesar as a fast-maturing ape who was learning to grapple with his human side. In Dawn, we say that humanity firmly take hold after what was left of his peaceful ape habits began to fade. Now, in War, like Anakin Skywalker, his goodness is in constant battle with his darker side, and the result is at times chilling. But this is what makes Caesar as a character, so compelling. The film starts off really solidly. Action from the word go, fantastic scenery, and an absorbing plot which runs along at a fluent pace keeping you firmly absorbed for the first hour or so. After being teed up nicely, the second half of the film doesn't quite reach the high expectation levels set from the start for me. And I would also say that the film was a little longer than it needed to be given the direction in which they took it. However, that said, it is still more than enjoyable. If you liked the previous two, you will enjoy this film. Best compliment I would say is that film trilogy's have a habit of starting strong then getting weaker but in this case, the third film is as good, and probably a little better, than the first for me.
