Great start for the Rhinos at a bogey ground. Really not sure what to expect with Leeds this year but find it amusing that some critics still choose to write them off despite the fact they are masters at finishing the season well and winning the playoffs. If Leeds don't do it, I kind of hope Castleford win it. Felt sorry for them last year, they just didn't perform when required but that experience will be massive for them this year.

I feel like it's more than coincidence that without Matic in the middle, we've seen you forced into more mistakes by teams high pressing, not just in terms of the wing back weakness as you mentioned. I don't see as much dominance in midfield without him and for me this is the key area on the pitch. This is where you win football matches. Matic is a phenominal build, tall, big, powerful, imposing and deceivably quick. He's very good at what he does. Probably underrated infact. Bakayoko has come in with a similar physique to do a similar job but hasn't performed this quite as well. For example, I thought a lot of your build up play last season was based on defenders playing out from the back into Matic, who could start attacks with his quick and accurate passing. He is a key cog in turning defence to attack quickly. This year, I think without him, teams have cottoned on that they can press you higher up the pitch into making mistakes without him there and that's happened more than you'd like. You have also seen at Man Utd this year where quite a few of their goals have come from him turning defence into attack. Bakayoko also for example, averages significantly less touches in a game than Matic and is also lower down on passes per game so clearly his presence has been missed. I think you've definitely lost impotence going forward and also become more exposed. There isn't really anyone in your squad that has been able to replicate what he brought to your team. Costa went missing in the second half of the season last year for me and Hazard pulled you through but the one person that was always there was Matic and I don't think that can be ignored this season.

Whoever's decision it was to sell Matic should be the one on the chopping block. That was, and remains, the key loss for me.

Had 4 days off to myself and have smashed a load of films out I've wanted to see. Short summaries only. Coco - 8/10 - Very good. Not quite the pinnacle of Pixar but close. Brilliant heart-warming storyline that is sure to tug at the heart strings and as usual with Pixar, a good mix of humour and song. And very good to see Disney embrace the Mexican culture. This will be a big hit. Brawl in Cell Block 99 - 7/10 Better than I expected. Vince Vaughn is unrecognisable as his great big brick shithouse of a character and it's without doubt, one of his best performance's. Start's as an initial slow-burner then get's quite gritty and bubbles along nicely when we learn the main plot of the film. The action scenes are absolutely savage as is the harsh realities of prison life and it's all about following Vaughn's journey to gain redemption. Jigsaw - 2/10 Gash. Can't say I've ever enjoyed a Saw film since the first one. American Made - 8/10 Tom Cruise back to his best in the true life telling of Barry Seal. A remarkable story told at a continuous pace with plenty of action and humour. For me, this reminded me a lot of War Dogs so if you enjoyed that, you'll like this. All in all a very entertaining rise and fall story with all the glitz and glamour around it. 12 Years a Slave - 9/10 Somehow missed seeing this upon it's initial release till it was on TV tonight. Brilliant watch. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender are absolutely unreal in this, particularly the latter as the 'bad guy'. The story is excellent and really hits home the message about slavery and what people really went through. The score by Hans Zimmer compliments the cinematography and leaves you feeling like you've just watched an epic.

Back on it after giving myself three weeks off over the Christmas period eating and drinking what I want with no exercise. Put on an inch and a half on my waist as a result but then I only weigh 78.5kg anyway. It's not a horrendous result but still enough I can feel the difference. Walked back into the gym today and blew the cobwebs away. Always feels nice after you've been and gives you a kick up the arse. I'm pretty good with keeping to my diet the last two years so I've upped the water intake and reduced the refined sugars. Hoping to slim back down to what I was then maintain and tone for the rest of the year. No interest in being a beefcake, I can't pack all the calories away daily so just want to stay lean.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer 8/10 Didn't think I'd like this but what an absorbing watch. Farrell/Kidman both very solid in this but without a shadow of a doubt, Barry Keoghan steals the show with a masterfully sinister display as a 16 year old chilling young boy called Martin. Every scene he is in is literally mesmerizing to watch. Eerie gliding camerawork, a haunting orchestral score and a cleverly constructed well-linked plot all contributes to what is a very fascinating/strange film in my opinion. The bleak and cold unfeeling nature of it makes the audience feel helpless and miserable. It presents a many uncomfortable situations and a moral dilemma that is very horrifying leading to a sway of opinion of the main character (Colin Farrell). The ending is quite dark and unpleasant as well. If you know your greek mythology, you will understand the general idea from the film title which is very clever as well. All in all, totally worth a watch.

Detroit 7.5/10 Even having watched some really gritty movies lately (Shot Caller and Dunkirk) I still had to admire how Detroit drops you right in the thick of it. The action is in your face and they don't shy away from the brutality. Although Detroit feels firmly grounded in reality, the movie does have a sense of style. For example, the beginning has an animated segment that isn't pretty and they use it to drive home the hopelessness of the situation. Detroit is an engrossing and tense thriller. The movie is very intense and some scenes are quite hard to watch given the content. Things get downright brutal and where some stories play with some of the characters having ambiguous motives, this is not one of those. The villains are disgusting and their behaviour is downright savage to hit home just how real things were. Every turn the story makes, things get nastier but you can't turn away. Detroit's cast is well rounded and there is definitely some excellent acting from everyone involved but one person kind of steals the show. Will Poulter is the villain of the piece as Krauss and he puts on a show that feels like a coming out performance for him, his character is so detestable. He seem's to have come a long way from a kid in the Maze Runner films. If I had one complaint about Detroit is that by the time you get to the end of the movie, it does begin to drag. This is a long movie and I get why they had to include so much but I was hoping for a quicker resolution. And it was weird to see John Boyega in something other than Finn from Star Wars, but he did a good job. All in all, a gripping watch.

MVG v Barney. Taylor v Anderson. If ever there was an evening session of darts not to miss, tonight is the one. This could be Phil Taylor's last ever game. I have a really funny feeling he'll go through though. And I wouldn't be surprised if Barney shocks MVG tonight either. It's going to be a huge night in the World Championships.

I think tonight's session was the night this World Championship really took off. Peter Wright out. Barney on fire. MVG nearly, and possibly fortunate to still be in it. Great atmosphere all round, great darts. Taylor and Anderson tomorrow. You can tell we're right into the business end of it now.

No Super Sunday so today has been film day. Was going to watch something I'd downloaded and then saw War Horse was on. Somehow I've never seen this film and heard great things. Visually, a beautiful piece of filmmaking with impressive camerawork/cinematography, a well-put-together cast, not to mention a magnificent musical score by John Williams. The war reenactments and locations are positively stunning of realism, The story is almost too excellent to be true. Overall, this is a fantastic slice of Spielberg, albeit a little Disneyesque which does make things a bit too predictable and sickly at times, but still thoroughly engrossing. 8/10.

Close but you're wrong. He's actually 11. Incredibly quick witted for his age, has full on facial hair on the go, got a blowie off of the best looking bird in the year above him at his school and is the king of the playground. And for such a young boy, what a great knack he has of rattling posters. Earns my respect.

Had a very good day betting wise today, although perhaps a tad unlucky. Won only my second accumulator of the season by having Middlesbrough, Swindon, Roma, Man City and Everton. £2 on won me £51.40. It could have been more. I also had Lazio but the game was postponed. That would have been roughly another £16-17. I also had 3 matches, BTTS. Man City came in, Roma came in and the one that let me down was St Etienne v Lyon, even though I had Lyon to win. Only they would score all five.

Eye opener for Loftus-Cheek and Abraham that. Wouldn't have any chance of going to the World Cup next year had they not moved out.

It's the culture you are developing there, encouraging players to play the same way from senior to youth level. Yes, you may cherry pick some of the better pool of youngsters from others but you're developing that talent further in your set up, it's to be admired. I wouldn't usually watch this level of football to be honest but I'm hooked. That was quality.

Just got up after my night shift and flicked on BT Sport for a bit. City's kids playing away to Napoli's kids. No joke, some of the best football you'll see at that level. Even better than some senior games, not over reacting. City 5-0 up at HT. It is a joy to watch.

Yes. It's shit here. Pretty tacky and half arsed. Plus it gives Chavs an excuse to be even more cuntish than normal. I would say the only highlight is seeing birds dressed like slags for the night in sexy witch or pussy cat outfits, but as a contented boyfriend (incase she's spying), I'm on lockdown most Saturday night's now so don't even get to see that perk.

Annabelle Creation The first movie was gash. Therefore my immediate thoughts were fuck this for a game of soldiers. But the missus overruled me. What I expected was another tedious regurgitated modern day 'horror'. What I got was a pleasant but scary surprise. All in all, it's a really good watchable movie with genuine scares that hand on heart, did make me jump. For a 'prequel', it is so much better than the first film on all levels. Infact, I think it's rare these days you get a better prequel/sequel than the first. Slow enough to provide adequate build up for the scares, but fast enough to keep everything moving and on edge. From the location and atmosphere, to the sound and creepy tricks to play on your emotions, it all contributes to the scare's that occur during the film. And of course, there is that fucking doll. It's soulless stare and deceiving smile continue to give me the willies. And I really enjoyed the way the end of the movie tied perfectly into the first one, exactly where it started. Such a shame that one was so crap. 7/10
